My appointment lasted over five hours, and my hair was left noticeably damaged. The manager told me the products had not been mixed correctly, which explained the outcome. The cosmetologist drank Crown Royal served to her by her superiors. Afterward, I was threatened with legal action instead of being helped. I had to pay $220.00 to stop legal proceedings. I cannot say enough about the service my mother and I received at the Color Bar in Conroe. My mom is getting up there in years and outside of medical appointments, she doesn't get out very often. I don't live in the area and am not able to take her out to get her hair done and she doesn't have much help at home with grooming since it's just her and my elderly father. In fact she was embarrassed about the condition of her hair and scalp. From the moment we walked in the Color Bar, we were treated with nothing but care and respect. Camilla was her hairstylist and was so kind and patient while we figured out what my mom wanted and how to get close to it. She took her time combing through her hair which was quite tangled. My moms scalp was tender and she was so gentle with her. She washed her hair and scalp multiple times as there was build-up, but she never made her feel uncomfortable about the condition of her hair. In fact they made her feel pampered. Jade, the wonderful receptionist, came over during the lengthy wash and massaged her hands and arms with lotion. My mom felt like a queen. Everyone was so patient and took some time to ensure my mom was getting the cut she wanted. Amanda, the team lead/hairstylist was busy with a customer herself as well as training another stylist who was practicing on a wig. Despite that, she took the time to consult with my mom to ensure she was getting what she wanted and took the time to show the other stylists some techniques to get the "softer" look my mom was wanting. They ended up washing her hair a second time after the cut to make sure they got all of the buildup off. Then they retouched and styled. I wish I had a before picture because the difference between that and the after version of my moms hair cannot be described accurately. She glowed and looked beautiful afterwards. She kept raving about it during lunch. I cannot thank everyone enough for what they have given my mom. It's much more than a haircut! read more

If you want to throw your money away, definitely come here. I brought my daughter to The Color Bar to get her hair dyed on 2/20. Originally we were only coming in for a consultation. I had concerns about her hair as it had been dyed previously with semipermanent dyes, one of which being black. The stylist happened to be free so she did a quick consultation and assured us that while she couldn't get the vibrant red that my daughter wanted, she would get her as close as possible. My daughter and I agreed and accepted the appointment and the $400 estimate she provided. It was a lot of money but in my mind I thought a higher ticket price would yield better results and a more experienced stylist. I mean "The Color Bar" sounds like a place that probably knows a thing or two about color. Wrong. Now, I know next to nothing about cosmology but I do know that everyone's hair is different and it's going to react differently depending on what has been done to the hair in the past. I also realize that the stylist isn't fully responsible for how her hair reacted to the products used but I'm wondering if she even did a test strand at this point. Where I do think she was wrong was not being upfront about how bad my daughter's hair could have turned out. Like if she had said "Your hair could come out orange with an ugly-ass band all the way around due to the previous color so you might want to rethink some things." I would have respected that and maybe would have gone back at some point with another, more achievable goal. Unfortunately, I think she was more interested in making money than the integrity of my daughter's hair. When we picked my daughter up I could tell she wasn't happy so I asked how soon we could come in and fix it. She said 6 to 8 weeks. We left and for the rest of the day my daughter tried to convince herself that it was okay. She was trying to not seem like a brat for not liking something that I'd spent so much money on. The next day it looked even worse! I called TCB to talk to a manager and there was no one available. Mind you, I'm still under the impression that there's nothing we can do about it for at least 6 weeks and I was not informed of the "7 day guarantee" or whatever it is that they offer. We end up going to another salon for a second opinion because there's no way I can let my daughter go to school with this hair on Monday. So I end up having to spend another $200 to get it fixed. When the manager gets back to me she say they don't do refunds. Okay. So the moral of the story is, "you get what you pay for" is not true at all bc I paid $400 for my daughter's hair to look like this. read more

Will NEVER book here again. I called and requested a color with the same stylist that I had last time. I was booked for 6:00 pm via phone. I then got a confirmation for 5:00 p.m. via text. I called back and asked why the discrepancy. JOHNATHAN said the system doesn't allow us to book past a certain time but your stylist knows and is willing to do it. I said are you sure? He said yes. I said can you check and he said there was no need. Needless to say, I showed up at 6:00 pm and was told NO we are closed. They said they don't know why I was booked for 6:00 pm. The people that booked didn't talk to them! How are they running a business like this? I rearranged my schedule, called to check on it and drove over 35 minutes to be here on time and was told.... Sorry! The stylist Kayla at the front desk was super rude and unprofessional. She spoke like I should have known better. She walked off in the middle of speaking to her. How was I supposed to know that scheduling at your company is at your own risk? I simply asked for an appointment and got JACKED around by this unorganized company. My time is valuable and they just wasted it. They didn't even offer to reschedule. I will take my hard earned money elsewhere! They don't deserve this one star. Find another colorist for sure... one that schedules and communicates with each other. read more

First two visits were great, liked the stylist, cut my hair as requested. Third visit, the stylist I had gone to was gone, had to try a new stylist. She did well, went to book with her again, she was gone. Tried another stylist, it was her first day, I just needed a trim, Im thinking 30 - 40 minutes, one hour later, I asked her to finish up, one hour for a trim is too long. The employees were very busy when I went! However, they were nice enough to make time to do my hair in the midst of the craze. You can tell that they have great team work because they all pitched in to help when things got busy. All of them did so with a great attitude and made me feel very welcome the whole time. This place is a JOKE. I requested a a perm. When I arrived I was told they had a new perm that would not harm my hair. The perm didn't last a week. I went in to return products I bought that I didn't use and to let the know the perm didn't lasts and I was told no refunds on products (which I wasn't told when I purchased nor was I given a receipt stating this). I was told if I had used the products the perm would have lasted. They must get a lot of complaints to have a come back like that. I never asked for a refund for the perm that was worthless, they were more focused on saving $50 but instead they pissed me odd so bad I chose to dispute everything. She was very laid back but ensured that my hair was "perfect" before I left and even offered to come back within the next few days if I felt like anything was off or not how I had envisioned! my experience with The Color Bar was not great. I booked this appointment because my birthday was coming up and I wanted to get something different than what I normally do. I usually get just a trim and some light framing around my face. I'm pretty plain Jane when it comes to my hair. This time I decided to get bangs, and some soft layering. My stylist was Kloye, and right off the bat when I told her what I wanted I could instantly tell she was uncomfortable. I showed her plenty of pictures of what I was looking for but also told her I was open to what her thoughts were. My appointment was only suppose to be 45 minutes but took 2 hours. She kept making comments on how thick my hair was, and I could tell it was frustrating her to brush and comb my hair out. When we went to cut my bangs, AFTER she made one cut to my bangs (which was the first initial chop) she then said "I've never cut bangs before this is my first time". She had another stylist come over and help but she still let all Kloye cut my hair and was walking her through what to do. As if I was an experiment. I also showed the other stylist pictures of what I was hoping for. Let's just say I did not get what I asked for. They basically just chopped my bangs straight across with no shaping or framing at all and did not resemble the pictures I showed them. After they were done Kloye proceeded to tell me "Haircuts are not my strong suit, I only deal with color and bleaching". I was super kind and polite and even gave a $10 tip, however I cried on the way home. I was VERY upset and totally disappointed with my experience. When I first booked my appointment online, it asks you what services you want. After I selected a women's haircut, it then shows you the stylists you can pick from. I picked Kloye because of her affordable pricing. Some stylists charge $85 for just a cut and blow dry. Kloye only charged $45. I see why now. Please DO NOT offer cuts from a stylist who specifically does not do haircuts. I would not come back. However, just because my experience was not good, doesn't mean yours will be as well.
