Driving in Selma can feel a bit down seeing spots out of business, but this is one of the many gems. Stop here and you won't be disappointed. Easy parking, a drive thru, clean and spacious inside with a small lounge in the back. I ordered the basic hot latte and a white chocolate and raspberry scone. So tasty...all of it. Fresh and warm just like the staff. The beautiful lady that helped me lit up the room with her smile. This spot lifted me up! read more

I was disappointed when I learned there was no STARBUCKS in Selma, but after going to the COFFEE SHOPPE, I was very pleased. . .while small and intimate, it is a great place, wonderful service, and would drive Starbucks out of town with their EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE AND PRICES. I found this nice place by looking for a local food spot with good reviews. The Coffee Shoppe was just that. It is just down the road from the Edmund Pettus Bridge. There was a steady stream of cars picking up their food via drive-thru, but I decided to eat inside. The staff were friendly. I had a little wait while they assisted other customers, but nothing more than a few minutes. The panini sandwich and coffee were both great. An excellent food choice when in Selma. read more

Honestly I came here for the free WiFi and boy was I happy! The upload speed is 30+Mbps and download 40+!! You can't ask for more in a small town such as this. I had a mocha and it was good, nothing to brag about but it hit the spot. Also had a bagel and it was alright since I was hungry. A lovely spot for coffee, and the smoothies looked fabulous. I was only there for a morning cup and a bagel and cream cheese, but ran into friends who are frequent patrons. A cute little spot, a one woman show. Jackie is super sweet, with lots of southern charm. Came here for some breakfast. We were told that she didn't have "breakfast breakfast" but she did have breakfast sandwiches. My friend and I both got the ham and egg croissant with cheese; cheddar for me, pepper jack for here. This local spot, about half a mile from the Edmund Pettus Bridge was a delight to find. We walked in and asked if they did breakfast. The woman working there said, "well, we don't do Breakfast breakfast, but I can make you some croissant sandwiches with eggs and stuff." Of course we agreed, because there was no way we wanted to start the day off with some crappy fast chain breakfast, which are in abundant supply in Selma. Let me tell you, what we got was quite the bourgeois of breakfast sandwiches: a fresh and flaky croissant, with eggs, meat and perfectly melted cheese! That's what I call breakfast. read more

If you are looking for a basic lunch at a locally owned place with a good vibe, this is it. In passing through Selma, we looked long and hard for an open lunch spot that wasn't a chain. The Coffee Shoppe stood out by its look and menu. Not a long list of choices, and we settled on a panini (lots of choices of fillings) and chicken salad on a croissant. Simple presentation, a bag of good chips and a crisp pickle spear. Place is very clean and well lit, with an array of photos showing local folks and various celebs who have passed through this important place in American history. Counter staff very very sincerely friendly. We didn't have coffee but they were doing a steady business in the various offered hot and cold choices of regular coffee and espresso-style drinks. read more

Coffee and drinks are passable, food also not horrible but nothing stands out enough to make me want to go out of my way or spend extra money to go here. People were ok and for Selma, I guess it's better than no coffee spot at all. Took a wrong turn and stumbled upon this precious coffee shop! People are so very nice and friendly there and I had the most delicious cup of masala chai. Truly didn't expect to get a cup of chai there, but was so pleasantly surprised and enjoyed it so much! Have found a new route and a great stop for my next trip to my sister's in Montgomery!! Lunch options looked great...but it was early morning and only wanted tea. Also their scones and muffins looked delicious. Will definitely stop again my next trip through to Montgomery!!! Never had a bad experience. The staff is very friendly. The coffee used is made locally. The decorations give the place a warm and happy vibe. The building is very clean. While the selection isn't grande, the menus offer nice selction of coffee, sandwiches, soups, and salads. All have proven to be very tasty. read more

So I was slightly worried about the 5 stars with only 3 ratings. Glad I took the chance and stopped. Customer service was great and the only agenda I had was trying the coffee.
