We eat and shop a the Coffee Grounds weekly. The menu has locally-sourced options. They offer a Meal-Of-The-Week. Will & Megan also have an incredible frozen food selection. We always buy the lasagna, meatballs, and meatloaf when it's available. The service is very good. Will, Megan and their staff are happy to answer any questions you may have about their food, cheeses, kitchen ware (pots, pans, knives, and other items), wine, beer & hard liquor (& coffee & cigars). We don't drink coffee, but it's always highly rated in the Volume One's annual Best Of. They have continued the Coffee Grounds legacy and continue to excel. Food was good as hell and the place definitely has a vibe. The biscuits and gravy were flavorful, hot, and filling. My only complaint is that they put the sunny-side-up eggs underneath the biscuits and gravy. I didn't realize it at first, and once I cut into everything, the yolk started running all through the gravy. Some people might like that, but I'd rather have the eggs served on the side so everything stays separate. Other than that, the food was solid, the atmosphere was great, and I still cleaned the plate. I'd definitely come back--next time I'll just be more specific about how I want my eggs served. read more

Cute epicurean market and restaurant in EC. Met a locally based relative on the way from Chicago to the Twin Cities. Nice selection of sandwiches, salads and hot and cold/soft and hard beverages. If you want a departure from typical fast food highway fare and are willing to take a breather for table service this is a great option. read more

The combination of a coffee house and a liquor store is unique when considering that's not heard of on the east coast. The Minnesota turkey was solid, and I've been in multiple times for iced coffee and whole coffee beans. read more

The menu is loaded with many interesting and veg-forward dishes for both breakfast and lunch. I went with the falafel and my plus one ordered the Minnesota turkey. Both dishes were mediocre. The only side available was chips or a cup of pineapple. And both meals came with pickle slices. Two pickle slides on the plate. We were told that sometimes French fries are available but there wasn't a cook in back when we came here. Breakfast and lunch are both served all day. I thought there would be a wider selection of coffee drinks but there wasn't anything novel here straight forward coffees, lattes and cappuccinos. We also dined in and it was very cold outside when we visited but we had to eat with our coats on. There were maybe 7-8 other patrons dining in and everyone had their coats on. Service was fine and friendly. You order at the counter and then find a table/place to sit. Lots of chit chat going on behind the counter but for the most part we were helped quickly and they were helpful with our menu questions. There's also a ton of cooking utensils, ingredients, spices and a great cheese selection at the front of the store and a brewery on the other side of the same building. It was a fine lunch spot - quick and easy but I don't know if we would be quick to come back. Maybe in the warmer months. read more

Stopped in to do some work. Ordered a Turkey club with regular Mayo, instead of their horseradish Mayo. Man this Turkey club was great. A warm Turkey club which I really appreciated. Tried the Minnesota Turkey sandwich. The focaccia bread was good but the bread overpowered the sandwich as barely any meat or pesto was added. Very dry and bland. Sandwich was made by a bearded man who didn't wear a beard net. It is unappetizing feeling wondering if any of his facial hair which may contain bacteria fell into the food. read more

The owners are cranky, making for poor customer service. They also have add charges to the total of your bill in addition to state tax without telling you to offset other costs they have in the store, give me a break just raise your price. If I owned a store....this would be it! It has everything I love. Coffee, which they roast in house, cigars, craft beer, TOP shelf spirits, great wine, artisan chocolate, and tea. They have a small deli, soup and sandwiches, and some great cheese and gourmet kitchen offerings. The staff is always friendly to me. Eric is helpful with wine recommendations. The grain bowl is delicious. The pickled carrots and lime soaked onions give it a nice tang and combine well along with the ginger sauce. Nice and unique flavor combinations. And I always appreciate the mellow music at a soft volume and the tables spaced out so that it's easy to have a conversation with my table mates. read more

Bought 8 pounds online. When they arrived i weigt them properly, including subtracting for "tare weight", using one if their bags. Every one of the bags was short 1-1.5 ounces. To be clear, even if they did not subtract the weight of the bag ("tare weight"), the bags averaged around 1ounce low. And it was consistent, suggesting their scale us sufficiently accurate to avoid this. I then emailed to the same email i used to order explaining their shortfall. I never got a reply. I can only conclude they deliberately shorted me. I will not purchase from them again. read more

The new location is spacious and clean. I frequent this place because their sandwich menu changes monthly. I've yet to have a sandwich I did not enjoy. Obviously, given their name I do enjoy their coffee as well. My current regular drink is their vanilla latte. They also have a unique selection of beers, wines, cheeses, and chocolates! read more

I visit The Coffee Grounds whenever I'm visiting my family in northern Wisconsin. They've moved to a new location off Southtown Road and now share the building with a nice salon & spa. I stop by for the robust and dark iced coffee, as well as their interesting collection of chocolate truffles. My favorite is the espresso with citrus. It's such a great combination! They're paired with a wine shop that also offers a really cool array of novelty cooking items. As I was typing, I can hear James Mercer singing overhead, which just made my afternoon complete. Eau Claire has changed a lot since I went to high school, and The Coffee Grounds is one of many great businesses that keeps me coming back! read more

My family has been going to Coffee Grounds for years. Am hoping today was a one-off but VERY DISAPPOINTED in the service today. FIVE staff people behind the counter, chatting/ laughing and not working. Took very long to order, and the employee had to make sure several times she had our order correct, not a big deal. One of our coffees came out, the other didn't. Our monetary total was surprisingly low and thought maybe they forgot the other coffee, despite several times telling the employee. Oh well. My sweet potato kale hash came out but my friend didn't get her pork banh mi. Hmmm. Two ladies come up and ask if we had actually ordered the banh mi and not the grain bowl, yes we ordered the banh mi. They proceed to tell us we didn't pay for the banh mi and that we needed to pay for it if we wanted it. Fantastic. The new location is much bigger than the old one, and they seem to have plenty of room to expand into. They have more excellent beer, wine, and spirits than anywhere else in town, excellent ingredients and cooking implements, and of course their coffee! Fantastic idea, great open spaces inside, good beer, wine, liquor, specialty food selection. Their coffee bean quality and selections are great. So why three stars? The espresso drinks are terrible. This is just another "coffee" shop that sells espresso-based drinks but doesn't know how to make them. My cappuccino was a big heavy wet tasteless slug of hot milk. I'm sure the quality of the beans is great, so I'm not sure if this is a lack of training, or lack of interest on the owners part. If you want good espresso head downtown to Eau Shift. read more

Wow. They really price gouge on their beers. The price they charge should be criminal.

I'll start with the atmosphere. It's a large warehouse type of building. Not cozy or warm but more industrial and simple. It's not just a coffee shop. There is a full menu and full bar and loads of product they sell. Rows of wine, coffee, products, greeting cards and more. We ordered a sandwich and almond milk lattes. I would give the latte/espresso a B-... not bad at all but not awesome. Definitely better than burned Starbuck shots. read more
