I used to reliably get a great flat white from them in the morning and then over the course of a few years time, starting maybe in 2016 the service rapidly declined. And in this place nothing seems more important than coffee. Upon entering, I was welcomed with huge airy space, high ceilings, polished concrete floors and exposed brick walls. It certainly has chic industrial-warehouse feel to it. You can choose some pastry from the selections at the counter, order their specials or choose something from their menu. Their breakfast menu is pretty basic. My favourite is the 'Build-your-own' Breakfast for obvious reason, you can choose what you put on your plate. I built mine from bacon, poached eggs, mushrooms, chèvre and tomato. The poached eggs were cooked to perfection. There's satisfaction in watching the yolk oozing out as I cut into it. Sautéed mushrooms were nicely seasoned. My kids were able to choose their favourite breakfast, some bacon with scrambled egg. It was good simple breakfast done well.

Train Stop Café does attempt to make fresh foccacias and the like but I have to say my experience was more aci than fluffy focc. Meaning, the vegetables tasted like acid or chemicals or something imaginatively unkindly to my taste buds - I think it was the distinct flavor reserved for mass-produced canned capsicum and egglplant preserved in vinegar. It was edible but only because I was hungry and needed the sustenance to focus on an important task. Next time a Mrs Mac Pie might be a better option. Train Stop Café use Toby's Arabica coffee and a sickly sweet chocolate for mochas. It's a good place to sit on the grass outside sipping your coffee waiting for your train but that's about it.

Well, as a café it wasn't too bad, but certainly not one of the best that I've been to. The pot of tea was okay, and the staff were reasonable as well. Great location: I've always walked on George street, but I discovered Pitt street is even nicer! Less crowded, quieter, and more tree shades. Doppio Espresso is located at the heart of CBD, convenient and accessible. Good coffee: I ordered an ice mocha and it far exceeded my own expectations! First of all, I loved the way they presented it in a mason jar. Second, I'm a big ice cream, chocolate, and coffee lover. My ice mocha had a good balance of all three goodies. It wasn't overly sweet or overly bitter- just right. Great service: The servers were all really attentive and friendly. They made the effort to ask me specifically what I wanted for my orders- ice cream in my ice mocha? Toast and butter for my banana bread? Pleasant atmosphere: Loved the decor and set up of the coffee shop- local and friendly atmosphere. The music volume was also just right- in my case, I went to Doppio Espresso intending on drinking a nice cup of coffee and reading some books. The music had no lyrics, so it was pleasant and at the same time not distracting. Why is it missing a star? - The inside sitting space is a little too cramped. Great for a short stay, but not for a long sitting. - As I was reaching the end of my ice mocha, the server came multiple times to clear my plate/mug. It felt like I was being rushed to leave. In general, I really enjoyed my stay at Doppio Espresso :)

I reached my serviced apartment block and hadn't found anything, then I looked across the road and saw Doppio Espresso. A muffin it is, I thought. I got inside and all my dreams were answered, with a big bowl of Bircher muesli, with a big bowl of yoghurt and fruit next to it. They had heaps of other breakfast options (cooked to eat in) and lots to takeaway too. Smoked salmon rolls, blueberry glazed bagels, muffins and much more. The guys were really nice behind the counter and it looks like they could make a good cup of coffee too. They do catering. Oh and the Bircher was delicious.

My reward one day was stumbling across Wolf and the Honeybee. What a great find and so to do the owners justice given I started the review in reference to my screaming kid. I would like to say this is some of the best coffee, food and art I have seen in awhile. Unbeknown to myself this cafe has only been opened for a few weeks and is a sister or cousin to The Bunker in Darlinghurst. There is art from local artists that adorn the wall and they serve up rustic, home-style food matched with the best coffee. Why does the Wolf and the Honeybee have to be in Newtown we need one like it on the North Shore. Congfratulations Marrickville/Newtown yet another little addition to the neighbourhood

The exterior is pretty corner cafe typical, as is the interior. We just had take away coffees and a chocolate, raspberry & coconut brownie. Coffee ticked the caffeine box but wasn't anything to get too excited about, the brownie was good but not at all typical in brownie texture. It was more like a really dense and decadent fudge slice. Apparently 'coffee, vanilla and mung' represent the three core tenants of this company: ethical, healthy and tasty. O....k... So odd nomenclature aside, this is a pretty solid cafe franchise and the Hornsby kiosk is worth a stop if you're in the neighbourhood. The coffee is Fair Trade Alliance and the gourmet sandwiches are all delicious. They obviously use fresh produce and if the service is a little slow, it's because they're busy making your sandwich. The baristas could be better trained, but it's consistent enough that you could grab a coffee card and make this your regular. The only problem is you're stuck in the doorway of Westfield Hornsby. The cafe is nicely cordoned off, but you still have to deal with the hoards of shoppers streaming by, and the odd blustering wind coming in from the centres double doors. That said, I've never really been a fan of coffee shops in malls. Ethical, healthy, tasty. Turns out they were right all along.

This made it very easy for us to make up our minds on what we wanted to get. The food came out in good time. The wife got a chicken melt with a side of fries. I got the fish (flat head), chips and salad. The wife loved the chicken melt. It came with avocado and sliced tomato. Very filling, very fresh. Did not disappoint in the slightest. My fish and chips were terrific. The fries was cooked to exactly how I like it - hot fluffy potato on the inside and super crunchy on the outside. The battered flat head was amazing, crunchy batter and moist fresh fish inside. This was one of the few times I enjoyed my salad. Tartar was a little runny but tasted great. We had a cappuccino and chai latte. The drinks are big by Australian standards. My chai latte was silky smooth with a rich spicy taste. I'd happily come back here again as the cooks know what they are doing and are very proud of their work. Very chill, very cool. Five out of five!
