The chip's are always cooked to perfection when I've been there and their fish is always cooked from fresh each day still a five star chippy. Parking is not too bad there are dedicated parking spaces outside on the sie of the road and the other side of the road to park so it' s not too difficult to pop in and collect an order. There is an eat in facilty available with tables and chairs as well. The menu has it's usual items on and are of very good quality. The prices are moderate and not the cheapest but you do get what you are paying for. The walls now contain pictures of the youngers process of making fish 'n' chips from start to finish just to reassure you the quality you getting !

Prices are high for a chip shop, but worth every penny. Car parking can be hit & miss s is on a very busy road, but don't let that put you off! Highly recommended.

Horrible experience here. The staff are very rude and insulting. Also very unsanitary conditions…read more Food was OK, but would never go back.

I don't know if Albany Fish Bar has gone downhill over the years - it must have because I keep…read moreseeing everywhere how fantastic they are but after ordering from here several times and being disappointed every single time I am here to warn everyone. DISCLAIMER: I've only ever ordered from Albany Fish Bar off Deliveroo - I haven't actually physically been in the shop myself so cannot speak on customer service or anything like that CHIPS: The only thing that saves this place from 1 star. Their chips are actually pretty decent. Not the best I have but well-cooked. I probably would be satisfied if I only ever order chips from Albany. FISH: Just awful. They leave the skin on, which normally isn't a huge issue but the skin is not crispy and is just a soggy mess. I have to dissect my fish and remove the skin otherwise you get a mouthful of squidge. So if you like non-crispy fish skin, maybe that's for you. However... *BONE WARNING BONE WARNING BONE WARNING* I've ordered from Albany Fish Bar several times (I know, I never seem to learn my lesson) and EVERY SINGLE TIME the fish has been riddled with bones. I spend more time picking tiny bones out of my teeth than actually enjoying my meal. The only reason why I've ordered from them more than once is because if you're doing delivery, there are very limited options depending on time of day. I always end up thinking "Maybe I just got unlucky" but with the fish being consistently awful I can't do it anymore. If I have a craving for fish and chips, I'd rather eat canned soup than the fish from Albany's at this point. --- Overall, come here for everything else but fish.

There has been much debate over the years as to Cardiff's best Fish & Chip shop. I heard a few when…read moreI first moved back and, dutifully, tried them all. And The Codfather is certainly my top pick. Punnage in the name aside (although I do love a good pun and the shop is all the more memorable when singing its praises than others) this fish and chip shop is fab in my mind because it does fantastic fish and chips. No gimmicks, no cult status, just really good fish and chips. There is usually a bit of a wait, but then that is because the fish is cooked freshly for you. The chips are good, and go well with their proper mushy peas - not too lurid green, but with just enough pea! The staff are always friendly, the place looks clean and there are always other people waiting, but not too many. They do seem to have quite an obsession with dolphins though! My only criticism? They charge you for tartare sauce and the last few times I've been in they've not had pickled onions. But then, that hasn't stopped me going back!

I know a few people who will drive here from the other side of town rather than settle for their less distinguished local chippy. You can spot the Codfather a mile off thanks to its bright blue exterior, and inside it's clean and tidy. They buy their plaice, cod and haddock from local suppliers whenever they can, and it always seems to be covered in consistently good batter, both crisp and fresh. The chips are equally good, and all these are fried to order except at the very busiest of times.
