Sometimes, there will be a fun bargain. They have limited clothing, seasonal items, toys, gardening items and more. The produce is decent. The bakery selection is varied. There are Virginia locations with more inventory but this place will due when I don't want to drive as far. The prices are cheaper than Harris Teeter and Safeway. I still prefer some brand items (ketchup, soup) but I like inexpensive items. Aldi is regularly in our rotation. Just remember to bring a quarter for the shopping cart.

I appreciate the variety of ingredients I can get here, from fresh nopales to cashew milk to tamarind to canned ackee. The huge number of fresh tortillas, both flour and corn, is also awesome. The only thing that would make Avenue better is a more diverse selection--it's missing some basics like nuts and tofu and fresh herbs (besides cilantro and parsley).
