We booked the Clancy for a Birthday Celebration. At check in the gentleman at reception said we could upgrade to a Suite for $50.00 additional for each night . We agreed ! Loved the room ! Bed is so comfortable! The extra space was nice so we could have our friends over to celebrate a bit ! The staff are always friendly and welcoming! Restaurant and Bar in the hotel always has good food and service . This is our go to to stay now in SF !

Beautiful view from my room!

2nd time here! Customer service is always wonderful! Very attentive. Upgrading to a city view for only $25 more and the room was ready at 1pm!

Had a wonderful stay at the Clancy as a staycation in the city. Arrived shortly after standard check-in time of 4 pm and received my room promptly - huge shoutout to Erin for her exceptionally warm welcome to the property, and her patience in assisting with my questions and requests. Not hugely happy about the required destination fee, but like to think I was able to recoup a decent amount of value from leveraging most, if not all, of the benefits as part of the destination passport - only thing that wasn't available was the reusable tote. Another shoutout to Robert the bartender, Luis the server at the Taproom/restaurant, and Jay at the front desk, who ... amazingly, seemed to be at the front desk during every shift during my stay. Loved the holiday decor at the property and will certainly come back in the future. Only points of improvement w/r/t the rooms is 1) no auto-shut off of lights and HVAC whenever the front door opens, and 2) a way to shield shower water from coming out the massive gap in between the very chic looking shower glass doors.

Just to set expectations, this is not a luxury hotel, it's a true business hotel. There are co-working spaces throughout, the rooms are clean and a good size. There's no room service. They offer a café, restaurant, and bar. You can order online and head downstairs to pick up your food, and there's a small market with toiletries and snacks if you need anything last-minute. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the decor is modern and bright. I also appreciated the abundance of outlets, so you're never hunting for a place to plug in and work. The location is downtown, just minutes from major tech offices like LinkedIn and Salesforce. I'd definitely stay here again when visiting my office.

whenever we're in the city, this is our hotel of choice. we consistently have a wonderful experience here. the front desk staff is exceptionally warm, attentive, and helpful, and the bartender is equally delightful--offering thoughtful recommendations whenever we had questions. we will absolutely be returning whenever we need accommodations in the area. be sure to take part in the hotel's curated activities; they're engaging, interactive, and a true highlight of our stay. and a special mention for the pillows--exceptionally comfortable and made for a perfect night's rest.

I'm not sure I gave the Clancy the best chance. I arrived after staying in the nearby Hyatt Regency, and the Clancy certainly has a different vibe. It's a bit more relaxed and casual, including the clientele, and offers colorful decor and a unique set of benefits. We arrived to find we were afforded a $35 dining credit per day (1 for 2 of us). A bit of a surprise and delight is always a welcome gift. I'm assuming most parties use the credit for breakfast. This also means that if you choose to do so, any parties 2+ cannot eat breakfast together without paying for the additional meals. While we would generally find somewhere beyond the hotel, this incentive kept us here, paying a hefty amount for our first meal. It's worth mentioning that the breakfast, although expensive is solid. Although there are 0 freshly baked items, and the spread was absent of on site prepared goods (like omelettes or pancakes), there are plenty of options including DIY waffles. Dialing out was a little unconventional (press the green button before dialing). The shower was a bit unconditional (if you need hot shower water, press the button on the handle and turn the knob to the right). There were 0 exhaust fans in the bathroom, but a room with a city view gets you a king bed with an additional pull out sofa, TV, and mini fridge (well...that's what it got us). We did love the comfortable beds and pillows, clean room and the beautiful city view. While it's a bit relaxed for my taste, it was a pleasant stay overall.

Art boutique hotel in SOMA San Francisco. Stayed on the seventh floor for a few nights and really enjoyed my time here. Nice fitness center, very elegant rooms and the interior design is flawless. I would suggest this hotel if visiting San Francisco, CA!

This is a nice hotel and it's strategically located in the middle of downtown. They give away a bunch of free stuff too. Only thing is you have to bring your own water bottle and fill it at the water station in the lobby or in the gym, but you get a small bottle at check-in. It's more environmentally friendly so I didn't complain. The gym is really nice and there's a punching bag in there, cardio equipment and free weights. The breakfast is nothing to write home about and does get tiring of you're staying more than 2-3 days. Other than it was a great experience.

I really like the Clancy. It's clean and modern; the rooms are spacious and updated. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. They are happy to assist and always make conversation. I also love getting offered a complimentary water upon check in! The hotel feels safe, especially because the lobby doors lock at night and a key is required for elevator access to rooms. There are many amenities as well: 24 hour fitness center, bar, restaurant, cafe, small market by the front desk, etc.

Explain how to use this phone? How do you call the front desk? Or housekeeping? Seems simple - but nope.

The Clancy is a beautiful hotel tucked into a quieter part of SoMa. It's modern, stylish, and located in a spot where everything is walkable if you're up for exploring. During the week, the vibe is lively but relaxed. On weekends, it's a bit of a ghost town. That isn't necessarily a bad thing. That said, we spent a lot of money not sleeping. The hotel's design, bar, and overall atmosphere are impressive. But our stay was anything but restful. On our first night, the guests in the adjoining room decided to turn up the volume. EDC music blasting. Loud conversations. This started at 1:00 AM. We weren't the only ones who complained. Security was sent up. Allegedly. At 1:25 AM, I called the front desk myself. Security went up again. We actually heard them talk to the guests, who apologized. Then they went right back to being loud. Around 2:30 AM, I called again. Security confirmed they could hear the them from the elevator. One of the loud mouthed guests even complained that in Vegas, "we don't have this issue." As if the hotel was the problem, not their behavior. Security asked them to move to the lobby if they wanted to keep the party going. Security then waited in the hallway and when the guests thought it was 'all clear' they went back to what it was. Security knocked heavily on the door and said THAT IS TOO LOUD. More complaints but they shut the music down. FINALLY I called again because despite the music down - they were rudefully loud. Did they know they were loud? YES... Because one of them kept SHUSHING the others. So... third visit followed (actually this was the 4th visit because the 2nd visit consisted of two warnings) . This time, it got a little heated. Security mentioned possible eviction with, "If I have to come here again..." The guests gave the usual "We'll talk to the manager in the morning" routine and stayed in the room. Eventually, the music stopped. But they didn't really stop talking. They finally quieted down at 4 AM. The next night? No music. But the same inconsiderate, late-night talking. One of them kept trying to shush the others, so they clearly knew they were being loud. I recorded A LOT of the noise from the first night. The front desk, after my 3rd call the first night said they'd let the manager know. But... No follow-up. No apology. No small gesture. Not even a courtesy bottle of water or a drink voucher. I didn't push it. I wanted to see what kind of service recovery they'd offer on their own. Turns out, the answer was none. Would I stay at The Clancy again? Probably not. There are other boutique hotels in the area. Just as stylish. Maybe even cuter. Hopefully with better insulation between rooms. Was it the hotel's fault? Not entirely. Mostly it was rude guests. But the hotel didn't go above and beyond the obvious price of stay to make the stay any better OR apologize. My experience might've been a one-off. Most likely is a one-off. But when you're paying boutique prices and dealing with Motel 8 issues, that's a hard pass. Oh, and tell me how this phone works? How do you call the front desk? Or housekeep for that matter?

Krystal G.

We stayed in a suite and it was very nice and spacious. Plenty of mirrors in the bathroom and bar area - great for multiple girls getting ready. Water pressure in shower was good. The area was walkable to nearby restaurants. The hotel also had it's own café. Lobby was decorated very artistically. All staff we encountered were friendly.

Scratch from Valet Parking
Chris V.

My wife and I would frequent the Clancy quite often since we are season ticket holders for the SF Giants. My last stay (Sept 14th) a parking attendant scratched my vehicle, a 2020 Chevy Silverado Trailboss. When I checked out and inspected and discovered the scratch, I was assured by the parking attendant that the issue was an "easy fix and the Valet supervisor would contact me and resolve the issue immediately. Fast Forward to December 4 2025, The previous supervisor and employee are no longer with the Clancy and I was finally told the company who does Valet parking for the Clancy will not honor any type of claim. This was after numerous attempts/ calls to management, supervisors and anyone who would listen. I do enjoy the amenities of the hotel but the complete lack of integrity and professionalism with how my situation was handled prevents me from booking with this hotel again. For each new baseball season I will make it a point to stay elsewhere. As some advice, if you choose to park a vehicle, make sure to do a thorough walk around, take pictures, and do not leave until you are completely satisfied. And if there are any type of customer concerns or complaints, be prepared to receive constant delays and runaround with response and accountability.

How much is parking if you stay at the Clancy?

$80

Do all rooms have sofa beds?

Our King room did not. But the couch was more than spacious if someone needs to sleep there.

When they converted the courtyard to the chancy did they remove/fill in the pool?

I believe so, I did not see a pool while staying there.

The check-in process was smooth. The front desk was very helpful in getting us in and filling out a card authorization form. We were surprised by the valet price however - $90 is definitely high. There is no self parking but the prices for the lots nearby are just as high, if not higher for overnight. We really enjoyed our room. It is definitely not the most spacious but felt quite luxurious. We booked a double queen room and were placed in Rm 920. There was limited walking space around the ends of the beds and desk. There was a beautiful view of the courtyard and city. I love that the room was very well-lit. There is ambient lighting and brighter lights you can turn on next to the beds. My friends and I loved the window that separated the bathroom from the sleeping space. It was quite comical and made getting ready for a night out very fun. There blinds for both the bathroom window and outside window were motorized which was a nice touch. The beds were pretty comfortable but nothing too special - I appreciate them having a bunch of pillows. The mini fridge and coffee bar felt pretty luxe and were much fancier than those are other hotels I've stayed at. There were plenty of outlets throughout the room and next to the beds. The whole vibe of the hotel feels very sleek and modern. The hallways are lit with a ambient blue. The inside of the elevators are themed which is super cute for pics. The gym is very nice too, loaded with more than your typical treadmill and elliptical. The lobby felt clean and had little robot things scooting around that apparently are used for room service. I would definitely stay here again so I can explore what I didn't get to see on my short stay!

There is a cozy bar if you want to decompress after work or a long day of touring around. The Omni was not cheap but worth every penny of it. However, from the very beginning to end ranged from confusion, annoyance, to plain nightmare. The check in process was confusing and and cumbersome. I was given no check in information, and there was no front desk. The intercom at the front door did not even work, and I had to call their actual "front desk" who apparently said they did not have my information on file and made me go through these annoying steps just to find my hotel room key in a lock box. The most frustrating and nightmarish experience came the next day when I lost the hotel room key (a physical key). I called the "front desk" several times but received no answer then finally got one after about 10 minutes. When I told the man at the "front desk," he told that he would have to speak to the housekeeper. After waiting for another 10 minutes, he informed me that I would be getting fined $200 for the lost room key, which is plain ridiculous, since they didn't have a replacement key (other than the housekeeper's key). I understand a $25 or $50 fee for a lost key but $200 for a freaking key???! After waiting for about 40 minutes total, he finally walked over with my replacement key and begged me not to lose it since that would mean the housekeeper can't even get in (how laughable). What's worse was that the other guests were able to use their phone or a passcode to get in since all the room had e-locks. When I asked the man at the "front desk" why I needed a physical key, he said that not all of the e-locks were working--including the one for my room. What a load BS. A horribly dingy hotel that can't even get its most basic sh*t together. Stay at this incompetently run hotel at your own risk or better yet find much better options.

Amazing Service. Good Value. Butler Service…read more I came to the Bay Area for a relative's 80th birthday and booked The St. Regis because it was the only Forbes Five-Star rated hotel in San Francisco. I'm usually hesitant to stay at American hotel chains' "luxury products" because they often just feel like Marriotts with nicer tile (most new Ritz-Carltons, for example). I found the St. Regis to actually offer the kind of luxury service that is often missing in American hotels. I arrived fairly early, around 11:00 a.m., and the staff were incredibly friendly, accommodating both an early check-in and late check-out, along with a room upgrade. Prior to this stay, I didn't really understand the purpose of butler service, but they were kind enough to gift-wrap the presents for the birthday party I was attending while I booked a massage and walked around the city. The spa at the St. Regis is fairly large, with an indoor heated pool (well designed), a gender-separated steam room (out of order during my visit), and a sauna. I will say the spa could use an expansion or renovation. The "relaxation room" felt a bit like a repurposed salt room, and the men's lounge basically just had tea and snacks. The massage itself was great, and everyone there was extremely friendly. What really impressed me was the service. I casually asked whether they had bath salts available for use in my room, and within 30 minutes of leaving the spa, bath salts, bubble bath, and bottled water were delivered to my room without my needing to make a special request. Great attention to detail. I walked through the gym and it seemed large enough for a full circuit workout, with plenty of equipment. I do wish the hotel had more dedicated lobby or guest lounge areas. The check-in area, bar, and restaurant all seemed to blend together into one shared space, which felt fairly busy in the evening when non-guests came in for happy hour. The bar was nice but honestly expensive and not especially memorable. I was a bit surprised by some of the clientele (there were what I assumed to be a couple "working ladies" at the bar who I wonder if their services were less than the cost of breakfast in hindsight), though very friendly occasionally felt slightly out of sync with the otherwise polished atmosphere of the hotel. I didn't try the restaurant for dinner. The hotel does offer a complimentary car service around the local area, though unfortunately it was booked when I needed it. Breakfast was expensive, easily over $100 per person for a fairly normal order, but it was very tasty. The Eggs Benedict were perfectly cooked and included truffle, which was fantastic. The room was clean and comfortable. I do think it could have used a deeper scrub, though I admit my standards may be skewed by an exceptional housekeeper at home. There was also a slight musty odor. It was not on the level of a room at an average Belmond property or the former Mandarin Oriental Miami, but it was spacious and perfectly comfortable for one person. I'm not entirely sure whether St. Regis considers itself directly competitive with those brands. In summary, the service is what makes this hotel worthy of five stars. They seem genuinely happy to accommodate nearly anything you might need or even casually mention wanting. Personally, I find San Francisco itself dirty, stressful, expensive, and rough around the edges, so having a hotel that felt calm, polished, and attentive made a huge difference in my trip.

It was SF restaurant week so we ordered the $90 3 course meal for dinner at the hotel restaurant Astra. We ordered the duck cannoli (ok tasting but the duck is cold), braised short rib (very good! Love the polenta) and the brussel sprouts (menu said it was gremoleta/garlic/parmesan flavor but it ended up being gochujang flavor and it was overly sauced). Was not a huge fan. The hotel is dog friendly. They give you a bed and bowl and treats. The pet fee is steep at $200 per stay. There is the Yerba Buena gardens across the street (5 minute walk) to take your dog out. The hotel used to be quite a few other properties, so while they may have decorated it, it's not the luxurious experience we've had at other hotels. The views are to die for, we had a room that spanned windows from Golden Gate to Bay Bridge, it was amazing being on the 45th floor and seeing the night sky and morning sunrise. The property doesn't really have a real lobby, spa, and the restaurant is average, as in the quality of the food was just not top notch, and they have access to the best ingredients. They only have two elevators and are quite slow, at a busy time this can be quite annoying. The room itself was small, no real furniture, would have been nice to have a sofa and table with two chairs. There was no dresser. The bathroom was great for one, but small for two. The shower didn't have a bench, no his or her's sinks. The bed when we got into it was super soft and not supportive, when we called they did something really odd and put a board on the mattress and then a topper. I guess they have a guest that asks for this. Why didn't the service people know they have a firm version of the mattress topper they could have switched for us. We didn't have the best sleep. Again, usually the Four Seasons beds are amazing. While this property doesn't charge regular Four Seasons prices, it also doesn't deliver the experience and it would be a shame if the brand started doing this.
