I came here the other day for an aerial yoga and two pole dancing demo classes. The aerial yoga was…read moreabsolutely fantastic! I loved the class and how fun it was. We did inverts and had a really good experience. I can't wait to go back for a full hour class. The pole dancing course was okay. They taught us a choreographed dance (it was difficult to follow along) but we didn't do as many spins as I would have liked. I took one pole dancing class at a competitor years ago and it felt more like a workout but if you want to learn a sexy dance routine for a special someone, this would definitely be the class for you. They also offer bachelorettes and private lessons. I definitely want to try some of the other classes. This location is located on the third floor of Seduction. I wasn't sure if I was the right address when I arrived but it was. The instructors and employees working at this location are extremely friendly and kind. I definitely recommend you check it out for a flirty time.

The classes are loaded onto your account, and the easiest way to book the class is online, or via their app. The classes open up 72 hours (or 3 days) before the actual class, and these things fill up QUICK. So, some planning ahead is required. They do have waitlist available, which means if someone cancels, you get their spot. Beware of their cancellation policies, though - give it a good read and realize that this will be a commitment of your time, or else you're paying! I have no problem with this, but I can see where others who are prone to changing-plans might find this tedious. The classes themselves are upbeat and fun, and always loaded with awesome music. I think I've tried at least 4 of the instructors in Pole Beginner 1 now, and they all have a different "style" but they stick to the same syllabus, in terms of moves you need to master to move up the classes. You can't just jump ahead - they make sure you've got these moves down before they'll promote you. I love the classes because they have equal parts fitness, dance, and just plain ol' sexiiiii girliness. Sexy crawls on the floor? Twerking? hair flips??? Yes, yes, and yes, and with some upper body strength too. My Groupon is coming to an end soon, and then they'll be looking at a regular Vixen!

The vibe is very warm here as well (I've been there over a year now), and the community's invested in your pole progress at your pace. One of my favourite classes is Czarina's Strength & Flexibility--she's super good at helping you develop that body awareness, and it's one of the classes I frequent more consistently. Each instructor has something different to offer and they all have varying styles and strengths! I recommend trying a variety (go for that unlimited intro-month at $80 if it's accessible to you) to figure out which instructing style best works for your fitness journey, as well as the types of things you'd like to develop like pole basics, coordination, musicality, presence, strength, or flexibility.

Not only am I sore with some new bruise acquisitions; I'm also starting to notice muscles I didn't know I had, I feel energetic, excited to go back, and I even consider the classes as therapy (they have helped me to relieve my moodiness...). I like the studio; it's surroundings are great because you can have lunch, take a coffee or an ice cream while you wait for class, plus Eglinton West Station is just 2 stops away. Although at the moment the studio only offers classes (week days) at evening (from 6-9), & weekends from noon till 3, I saw a poster that says they'll start classes on mornings too (yei!!!). Would you like to learn a super fun kick boxing way to warm up? Have you dreamed about throwing yourself to the floor in an elegant&sexy way? Do you like adrenaline? Then you should drop in to check Iris classes on Mondays (levels 3 and up). She'll also challenge your balance, stability, strength and determination with spinning poles. Las Wednesday I took Verti Barre. Elisa (who is extra witty) decided to shake us salsa style: sexy-fun moves synchronized with a J Lo tune (awesome). This class really helped me to spot the mistakes I was making when performing some moves (I started learning with videos...). Yesterday (Monday), I put my Rocky Balboa attitude and decided to take 2 hours of pole. Inversions with Diana were like joining an army camp (after 1 month you would be ready for mudderella). No pain no gain sist!! Those perfectly flowing moves upside down need hours of squeezing, breathing, ouches, and a collection of marks. However, once you reach your move, you won't be able to hide your joy and the pole passion will take possession of your life (don't pole drunk in the subway please). Ultra Violet offers promotions, drop in cards for individual classes, or the 1 month membership ($140+tax)) which aloud you to try as many classes as you want/tolerate. They have a check in table when you walk in, get your heels (if you want), get changed and head over to the studio where there were plenty of poles for you to choose from. The entire experience and our instructor was amazing. It's something that none of us have ever done before so it was brand new to the entire party. The entire experience was fun but very hard, as some moves were difficult to do as a newbie. I love that they had spray bottles for each station so that you can wipe your pole before and after your lesson, since there was another group before us. The entire space is also covered with mirrors for you to check yourself out/ see if you're doing the moves properly. Overall, such a great experience and fun activity to do with friends! Highly recommend this for a bachelorette party!

Came here to attend one of the restorative yoga class in the smaller room across from the main studio. I can only comment on the facilities since the classes I attended is not one of the class on the regular schedule and the class was excellent! The room is really small and can only fit 5 student comfortably. I do like small class size but the floor is just really dirty and dusty. There are though enough props to go around. Noise level is quite high as it is facing Queen Street and you can even feel the vibration while lying on the floor if there is a "party" or a class going on next door. I though interest in one of their regular Pole Dancing Class, I definitely would try to come back to take one soon. Or maybe even organize a bachelorette or a divorce party here!

Sweet The Restorative Class was at the maximum capacity on this Sunday afternoon. Mat to Mat and don't even think about personal space...but since it is a restorative class and most of the poses are passive so it was ok. Tons of props: blankets, cushions, straps, blocks, eye pillows... and ACUBALLS!! This is the only yoga studio I experienced the Acuball (http://www.acuball.com/)..and it feels so good and relaxing especially on this cold winter day! I was snoring as usual...Zzzzz Zzzzz.. it was that relaxing! The change room though small, with 2 washrooms with no showers.. but is bright and tastefully decorated. Since there are not lockers, students are encouraged to bring their valuable into class. CDC has been around for years with great teachers and a wide variety of dance styles offered (plus some more fitness oriented classes like barre bootcamp or stretching, but I have never tried those). Location is great and the studios are clean and spacious (especially the large one with high ceilings on the top floor!). They even have a boutique with shoes, accessories, clothing in case you forgot to bring something. The studio and quality of classes is on par with others in the city like Underground Dance Centre or DanceLifeX, and in fact they have many of the same teachers. Their pricing is quite competitive, especially when you factor in that many of their classes are 90 minutes instead of the usual 60 minutes. I really appreciate that, because covering fundamentals/technique AND learning a piece of choreography in one hour can be pretty tight. Especially for beginner classes, it's nice to have the extra time to break things down. Also, the changeroom situation is much better than those other 2 studios. While you have to hike to the 4th floor, at least there is a spacious area to change and leave your things (plus single bathrooms on the other floors with coat racks and shelves to put your things). I usually reserve online using the MindBodyApp, but I haven't found classes too packed or full. Their cancellation policy is 2 hours (if you cancel within 2 hours then you will get charged). I think that is pretty fair. Some of my favourites classes I have tried so far: - Dancehall with Makka - Dancehall/afro beats with Nas - Contemporary with Lauren or Kahvontay - Broadway Jazz with Stephanie All of these were beginner level and really welcoming to newbies. I found the crowd slightly more diverse in age/background compared to the other studios mentioned above that skew a bit younger and also have a larger proportion of those wanting to learn dance because of their career (singers, models, actors). I go to all 3 studios but I think CDC is the least intimidating of the bunch because most students are recreational dancers and "regular people". Follow their social media to find out about different sales or promotions. For example, during the summer, they were doing $5 drop-ins on weekend afternoons. This month they have a special $99 for 10 classes for December.

I wanted to attend an aerial class the same day of the activation and based on the hours indicated on the site, I had called the gym right at the opening time. I've been to other aerial classes at another studio, and the classes offered at Cardio go are extremely fast paced. These classes are definitely not for beginners. They are trying to cram way too many people into one space and it is definitely not safe. With that being said, this was my first class at this location, and the girl beside me fell on her head while we were flipping upside down. However, the pilate classes offered at 200 Front St is amazing. Melissa is an amazing, funny, and ensures that all her students are doing each move correctly. I am a huge fan of spin - I've gone to spin class pretty much across the GTA and I was really intrigued by a Groupon here because it was close to my house. The instructors are great - super energetic and Chuck's story is incredibly motivating. I thought this was it! This is going to be my spin place from now on (because SpinCo was too far and SoulCycle at the time hadn't been opened on King W yet). I purchased the 10 classes for myself, and after a great first class, I purchased the same package for my boyfriend. And that's when it all started going downhill... Breanan, who is the manager there was super friendly the first class. He did the whole "sign up with us for 3 months free" speal, but I was at the time still sitting on a 35 class package somewhere else so I told him I'd have to wait. That's when he started making things incredibly difficult for me - I couldn't book classes until 3 days until the time of the actual class because I was subclassed as a "Groupon" member. I pretty much had to just call in the day before to see if they can squeeze me into whatever class they had available, even though most of the time there were at least 2 bikes free. When I mentioned that my boyfriend was only able to attend 2 out of the 10 classes because of their inconsiderate booking methods, Breanan told me "well you can just not come." Classy. So I took his advice. I wrote off the Groupons as an unfortunate loss and I haven't been back. Which is a damn shame because Chuck is a pretty awesome spin instructor. Chuck, if you see this and you're teaching anywhere else let me know!

I've been training with Albert Phan for a year and a half now, and to say it has been life changing…read moremay sound trite or hyperbolic but is true. When I first started working with Albert, I noticed he was different from other typical trainers: - He is extremely knowledgeableable and analytical. He really listens and watches, figuring out how I move and where my biggest needs are. Albert reminds me of a physiotherapist who is attuned to not just how to build muscle, but also how muscles should move and fire. And for someone who hasn't really gone to the gym before, had constant back pains and a disproportionate body, this is key. - He isn't just going through the motions. Albert clearly puts a lot of thought and work into the customized plans he develops. He also created spreadsheets and trackers that not only provide me with my entire training plan, but also laid out my targets. For someone who likes to assess and see progress-to-goals, this is great. - He is holistic in his approach. Albert doesn't just focus on the muscle building aspect of training, but also on the importance of nutrition and sleep. He developed a nutrition plan for me and is constantly holding me accountable to it. Over the last year and a half of working with Albert, the changes have truly been significant: - I feel better. I'm stronger and move better, with years-long backpains gone. The routine and discipline have also helped me focus-in other aspects of my life. - I look better. I obviously could see the fat loss and muscle development as I was training with Albert. But a year in, many people around me have as well. In my recent visit home, everyone I met commented on how great I looked and asked me what my 'secret' was. - I am better. Every since I was a teenager, I'd get regular blood tests to monitor different aspects of my health. Even as recently as last year, my doctors were worried about my blood pressure and fatty liver, to the point that I was going to be put on meds. But because of the holistic plan Albert developed and the work we've put in, my blood pressure is great and I don't have a fatty liver anymore. I don't have to go on meds anymore, and my doctors are really happy and have encouraged me to continue doing what I'm doing. Albert obviously takes pride in what he does, exuding a professionalism I rarely see in trainers. He clearly views this as a craft and a calling, and I am better for it. I highly recommend Albert.
