This place is definitely worth it during the holidays. It's definitely a more chill go at your own pace Christmas experience. Now heads up You have to get tickets early before they sell out for the train and the experience. First the train ride is a really neat ride with plenty of lights to look at and enjoy . Second there's a pizza place to eat at same with food and drinks that are sold separately. Third this place does get packed a lot and the parking is pretty good but the Christmas show that they have ain't worth it . Overall if ya want something different and more lowkey this is the place also the staff is pretty nice . And the prices can add up so be prepared. read more

December 12, 2020 Came from Galveston to check this event out that's been going on since the year 2000. It's a 24 gauge train that circles a lake along with a concession stand, small gift shop, elf show, go karts, coffee and Big Al's pizza. They really decorated it nicely...everywhere you look something is lit up. This camp is part of Living Stone church and school...which is HUGE in itself and its lead pastors are a husband/wife team, the Pitkin's. Honestly, it's a family affair...her parents are the pastors that started this non denominational church in 1974...the Jandl's. (tid bit---her dad never had formal bible training, in fact he worked for Kroger's in Galveston prior to his ministry. He was ordained twice...first time by reverend John Olsteen of Lakewood church in Houston, the second by Oral Roberts) Anyways, facilities are used for summer camp and can be rented out to other church groups. Had a great time. We rode the train and raced the go karts for 5 minutes. We got funnel cake (yum) but, the pizza looked delicious. A lot of people ate it. Everyone had their masks on...the train had plexus glass in between each seat. Well prepared during this pandemic. Fun. Family oriented event. read more

If you're looking for a non religious outing with your kids, avoid this place at all costs. Nowhere in their advertising did they mention that this is sponsored by a church. They actually went out of their way to not mention until right at the door, which is extremely manipulative. The 7 minute train ride is littered with biblical messaging, the elf show is the same, and they use several tactics that work on younger children for indoctrination, such a chanting, displaying enticing items, and pushing their messaging through song. I wish I could give this place ten stars. Before yesterday, I have never heard of the Christmas Train. It was absolutely beautiful. My daughter did not want to leave. All of the volunteers were very friendly & more than willing to help. We actually missed out train, but they allowed us to catch another one. Entering into the building was lit up with Christmas decorations. All of them were so beautiful. When we started riding the train, we were amazed at all of the beautiful lights. They even had the different Bible stories along the route about Jesus. I must say that it was a beautiful way for my daughter & I to wrap up our wonderful day. read more

We love the train!! This is our yearly adventure with our two kids. Even though they are getting older they love coming to the train!

If you've never been here, you need to come! We've been here twice now and it's great. First off, they've got volunteers that will direct you where to park in the lot. Then you walk across the street to get to the train and all the other activities. There are a lot of photo opportunities here so don't forget your camera. You enter the main building which houses the ticket booths for the train ride. My tip is to purchase those tickets online. Why? Well, number one, they're cheaper and number two, who wants to wait in line for a ticket? Anywho, they've got a train right near the doors and restrooms are also near the entrance/exit. In this building, there are also concessions like popcorn, cotton candy, funnel cakes, hot cocoa, etc... There are tables set up so you can sit, snack and relax. As you walk in deeper, you enter Santa's Toy Factory! This is where you take a picture with Santa. I like coming here for Santa photos because they're very reasonably priced, they've got a very nice background for the picture and the people taking it are kind enough to take multiple shots and let you pick the best one. Plus, the Santa here is very authentic-looking! After the picture with Santa, you can take a look at their Christmas village on display along with trains running throughout it. My son enjoys it every year. Go out the side doors and this is where you wait for your train. There are wooden rocking chairs to sit in while you wait as well as benches and tables. Once your train number is called, you start to get in line. These trains are just like the ones you ride at the Houston Zoo. When it gets really cold out, they'll have blankets for you to use to shield yourself from the cold air. The train goes along a predetermined path introducing you to their light displays and towards the end, a short story about Jesus. You have to understand that this is part of a church so you're going to be exposed to the religious aspect of Christmas here. It's a nice short story that kids can understand - which I think is the point. As the train makes its way back to the "station", you exit the train and then may walk along the path to go see Mrs. Claus. She has story-time every half hour. The kids sit on the floor and listen as she tells the story of Jesus. Afterwards, you can take a photo with her (if you want) and as you leave, you are given a book (which is really more of a mini pamphlet-type) about Jesus. Outside the door, they have a mailbox for you to drop off your letters to Santa. On the side porch, there are tables set up with paper and crayons for the kids to color and write their letters to Santa. Once you're done there, you may get back on the path and keep going farther out. You'll pass a Chick-Fil-A station and then make it to the on-site pizza parlor. The pizza is pretty good here. We had it the first year we came and it was great. In fact, ppl will purchase a pizza (or more) to take home. You'll see people milling about with pizza boxes the whole time you're here and you can definitely smell the pizza. Mmmm-hmmmm! We usually spend a couple of hours here. It's a nice outing for the little ones and relaxing for the adults. It's worth it to come out here at least once with the kids. We love coming every year! read more

Every year we are never disappointed the Santa the decorations the train ride the PIZZA AND SWEETS. This has been a family tradition for 4 years now and we plan on continuing it for years to come this Being at a church they are hear to spread the Christmas joy and not just take all your money and make you go to debt like most Christmas shows /experiences are you can come here for free just to walk around if need be but be sure to try the coffee it's wonderful . Bottom line: it is a wonderful place to spend a holiday evening with the family...and at the right price! This holiday display of lights and train ride is put on by Victory Camp near Alvin, TX. For being a local, non-profit, they did a wonderful job creating a holiday experience that the whole family can enjoy. I doubt if you have tweens or teens they would find it very fun...actually, they might find it "childish." But if your kids are around 9-10 or below, like my family, I will guarantee you they will have as much fun as we did. There are several things to do, beyond what the name implies. The biggest, naturally, is The Christmas Train. For anyone who has been to Herman Park in Houston or Zilker Park in Austin, the train they have here is the same. For those not familiar, it is about a 1/4 scale model steam train, large enough to fit two people per seat and 10 seats per car. Now, for older adults (grandparents) or those with mobility issues (i.e. arthritis), the seats do not offer much leg room at all, being mainly designed for kids. You will find yourself with your knees up towards your chest or having to cross them under you, like I did. Not a huge issue at all. But I could see it being a bit uncomfortable for those that already have issues with mobility. They run two trains all evening, and have a very efficient numbered boarding system. No standing in lines waiting to get on. You can just wonder anywhere you want on the grounds. When they call the number printed on your ticket, you just make your way over to the train and get right on. Very easy and relaxing. If you have small children, you don't have to suffer from "when is it our turn?" questions every 30 seconds. You can just walk around and look at some of the other light displays before your ride, keeping the little ones entertained and happy. The ride itself is about 7-8 minutes long. The first half of it is a take-off of "Twas the Night Before Christmas", complete with story boards to read as you go along. The displays are rather well done, with Peanuts characters making an appearance along with toy solders, penguins, and other animals in every scene. The second half is themed to the nativity and the life of Jesus. The displays on this part, I have to say, are really well done. Almost theater quality set ups. NO tacky plastic light up figures here! All-in-all, very enjoyable. The rest of the grounds are split up between: a small lake, with its own displays and a walking path for you to stroll around; an indoor pavilion about the size of a school gym with concessions, a seating area with couches, tables and chairs; a "North Pole" where you can get your picture with Santa and see more small displays; a very sizable "Holiday Town" set up from miniature ceramic houses and Lionel Trains; a full-size pizza restaurant serving rather good, made-on-the-spot, deep-dish pizzas; and a small house where kids sit around a living room and listen to Mrs. Claus tell the story of Christmas every half-hour. For those in Houston, the drive out to The Christmas Train takes exactly 32 minutes from downtown (I timed it on purpose!). If you can believe it, driving out to Alvin for this event actually takes you LESS TIME than driving to the Houston Zoo, trying to find parking, and then waiting in ridiculously long lines to get in to Zoo Lights (which took me 65 minutes door-to-door and I live live not far from the Zoo!) The price is only $6 for adults and $3 for kids. Go and enjoy a nice holiday tradition with the whole family! read more

Has been one of our Christmas traditions for years. My kids are too old to enjoy the train ride but there are plenty of other things to do. We enjoy the miniature Christmas village & have fun finding Waldo and all the other characters. But the best thing about this place is Big Al's Pizza. It's the cheesiest, yummiest pizza around. Overall, this is a good, inexpensive family holiday activity. However, with all the hype, I really expected more and find parts of the process very frustrating. The adult tickets as of 2015 are $8 per adult and $2 per child (3+). 2 and under are free. It's advised to book online in advance to get the time slot you really want, and to arrive 30 minutes in advance to get your actual train ticket. Now, the hours are supposedly until 10. However, on the Thursday we came, everything shut down by 9:30. The coffee/hot cocoa stand was closed by 8:30 (why??) and the volunteers were so unhelpful. They couldn't tell us if the stand would re-open or if anyone was even in charge. If you have volunteers sitting at a stand, they should either be running it, or leave so it actually looks closed. So silly. The lights themselves are just okay in my opinion. Dickinson's display feels much more exciting, even if there isn't a train. It's so Jesus emphasized too, which I found underwhelming as a non-Christian. We came for lights, not a Biblical story. I'd also be fine with it being so Biblical - if it was portrayed that way. But the website has next to no information, makes it sound like there's nothing to do, and actually there are several activities outside of the train! There is a photo op in the North Pole with Santa; a beautiful display of miniature houses and trains (this was my favorite part by far, it was so detailed and pretty); a house where kids can write to Santa; a pizza house; concessions & a tiny gift shop. Certainly allow yourself an extra 30-45 minutes to see these things. Lastly, it smells SO bad. Like old cheese everywhere, probably because of the pizza? But it's the holiday season so get some Christmas smells going on, use air freshness. Yuck!! So overall? Good for little kids, not older. The train is 10 minutes top and not all that (despite glowing reviews) but it's still a fun place! Could use some improvements for sure. read more

If you are going for the train only, its about an 8 min ride. I drove from Sugar Land this was disappointing. There isn't nearly enuf lights to justify my drive, but if you live in the area and u r bored, I guess. The volunteers r friendly everything is organized, clean, music was nice, and food priced fairly, but there wasnt any excitement. I was really looking forward to my visit here, but it was just okay. We had never heard of this event until a few weeks ago . My hubby loves trains and I love Christmas and all the lights . We ended up getting tickets online ($7) for the first night which was Friday . We arrived about 6:50 as our train wasn't until 8 . Upon arrival , all of the lights looked amazing ! We were greeted from several volunteers at the door as we came in. We browsed around inside to see the snack stand , small gift shop , Christmas village display ( I loved this ). Santa was there taking pics with the kiddos , we didn't stand in line as it was just my hubby and myself . Outside , there is a place the kids can write letter to Santa , Mrs Claus House , as well as Chick-Fil-A stand, and The pizza stand ( Big Al's?) . We decided to go in and try the pizza as it smelled great , like garlic bread lol . That was enough to reel me in . The line wasn't too long but place was packed , it's a full sized restaurant. Hubby ordered a pepperoni personal pizza for us to share . While waiting , I kept seeing others getting their Pizzas and all look yummy . We got ours , it was hot , super fresh , cheesy goodness and a great deep dish crust . It was cooked perfectly in my opinion . I thought I was going to have hubby go order another as it was that good , but after finally getting my second slice down , I was stuffed .( I was tempted to send him tonight to get my a pizza lol ) Train ride was great ! I'm in a wheelchair, the men that volunteer at the train were all very accommodating. Very friendly guys ! We enjoyed the lights and was amazed ! I like the idea that they incorporate the true meaning of Christmas during the ride .
