This place was good! Local spot here in town, not bad of a price, good portions. Had the egg sausage with spinach. Their coffee is not your traditional gas station coffee. I mean cmon, if you're ordering a club (3) slices is a must! The first layer of the sandwich is actually a BLT, then they put the ham, turkey, and two cheeses on the second layer. I decided I didn't feel much like cooking in the last few days, and so I haven't. On Wednesday at the Choppin' Block, the special was chicken fried chicken, with mashed taters and corn. I ordered two for takeout for my hubby and I. I was rather shocked when I opened the boxes at home. Each had two chicken tenders with white gravy, only two small tenders that weren't even as long as my finger. Despite that, it all tasted delicious. This review is solely focused on the butcher part of the shop, but based on that I wouldn't eat anything here. Super gross place. Dirty, unsanitary, and likely out of health code. The food wasn't seasoned. Everything tasted bland, and nothing was hot. Maybe warm at best. Even a lady at another table asked if they would remake her biscuits and gravy because the gravy was cold. They scoffed at her and took it, the waitress yells at the cook "I know how to fix it." And tosses it in a microwave. As far as atmosphere, it's not very welcoming. A local place for fresh meats, and breakfast and lunch sandwiches and plates. They always seem to have a steady stream of customers both eating in and buying meats and prepared foods to go. This review is specifically for their sandwiches. I was hoping for more. There was just something off with each of the sandwiches. For instance, the Cuban sandwich had a spread on it that was almost like a jelly, a little bit too sweet. The steak and cheese sandwich had slices of beef that were slightly thick rather than smaller shredded pieces like a Philly steak which are easier to eat. Even the cheesecake was a little bit off--the consistency was too thick and grainy. They have desserts that you can carry out, such as slices of peanut butter cream pie and pecan pie. They also have things like bratwurst and Italian sausages that are pre-packaged in a little section by their deli. read more

They have really nice cuts of meat. The chicken breasts are small but you can tell they're natural and not full of steroids like store bought breasts can be. The leanest ground beef they had was 90/10 I believe. It was a nice place. read more

My husband loves hole in the wall type breakfast places and this is definitely one. You know the ones - there's no frills, you eat off styrofoam plates, and the waitresses call you "sweetie". It's a little out of the way from where I live but it's a great place to come in for good, cheap food and good meats. It's hard to find a real butcher shop anymore but I wasn't here for the meat my first, but not last visit. I brought my mom and sis here before they drove back up north and we were greeted quickly and asked if we were here to eat. We were but we all just kind of stared in awestruck wonder at the awesome meat bonanza that was spread out before us, especially in such a relatively small space. Two meat counters, a soda fountain, a small section for grill supplies and a register for all of it. When we did sit down my mom wanted to know about breakfast and our server went to check-it was pretty late but he came back to let us know it she was good to go to order the meat and egg breakfast. My sister and I got steak sandwiches. I got the ribeye on the hoagie while my sister got the steak/cheese sandwich. Our server was quick to recommend to my sister get it with onions, mushrooms and peppers "kinda like a philly steak." I also got my ribeye similarly prepared with the twice baked potato, which he also agreed on. He was very quick and friendly to answer what a Neiman Marcus bar was-their special dessert for the day. The ribeye was grilled-they grill out in a big green egg and their twice baked came in a paper basket and at first didn't realize what I got, it was huge and I looked at the meat counter and there was what looked to be a mashed potato with a single strip of cheese in it-it was a huge potato is what I'm saying. My sis was similarly impressed with her sandwich and it's just a great, fresh simple place to get your carnivore on. read more

love this place!! Its really 3 businesses in 1. Restaurant: Amazing home cooked food using local produce. Ive only eaten breakfast here but they have a full menu. The breakfast omelets are amazing!! everything is very fresh and made fast. They also have a bunch of pre-made food to go (cold and warm) Butcher shop: Decent selection of meats, mostly beef though. Its such a small shop that they really don't have to room to be full meat market so they specialize in beef. Very knowledgable butchers and very helpful. Green Egg shop: they sale green egg grills and tons of accessories. All in all this place is awesome, the staff is always kind and helpful. i eat here and get meat at least once every time i come back into town. read more

Husbands burger & fries were really good, although the bun fell apart after second bite, but it was a loaded burger. My Cuban sandwich was bland and the pork was a bit tough to be on a sandwich. What a great little find in Clarksville. Butcher shop that has a little greasy spoon restaurant. And I mean that in a very affectionate way. They serve breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday and half day on Saturday. I decided to order the rib-eye steak sandwich and it was extremely delicious tender and very flavorful. Bought a few steaks and some other cuts which turned out really nice. Prices are up there especially with the price of beef right now. Not a butcher I would feed my family on due to the prices but, a few rib-eye steaks cut right every once in a while is well worth the price. If you're like my wife and I we love to have a good breakfast and we are pretty tired of eating at Waffle House and ihop every weekend morning. This little shop tastes exactly how my grandma would cook breakfast in North Carolina. All of the meats and eggs taste very fresh and the pancakes are so thick and rich. They also sell their own meats and have their own butcher in the back I think. Have to say the best breakfast place if you want a taste of a home cooked meal.
