After years of great service; today was very disappointing. Brought us an empty ketchup bottle. Replaced with a full one after we were done eating. Food was bland tasting. All the staff looked new. Took a long time to be waited on and the place was 1/2 empty. Maybe its under new mgmt. Will never go back. Use to be a friendly fun place to eat at. Everything was fresh and staff was very attentive. The Jager schnitzel was very authentic and so was the coleslaw.

Had lunch with a few friends mid week. The place was packed. It was hard to find parking because of all the work trucks in the parking lot. I guess this is where workers eat. It's very dated inside with wobbly chairs and dim lighting. You can smell the oil frying from back in the kitchen. Service was fast and very friendly. I ordered the Jagar Schnitzel with gravy. It came with German potato salad and sauerkraut coleslaw. The meat was breaded nicely and very thin. It really needed the gravy. The German potato salad was sweet and vinegary. No mayonnaise. Our first time going to Campbell's Kitchen and it was really good! The entire area was very clean organized. I had the fried chicken strip dinner which included fries and coleslaw. The slaw is vinegar based and it was very good! The chicken meat was good too- not one those chewy funky pieces that you sometimes land up gnawing on that never seem to actually go anywhere. My son had the fried shrimp basket and was able to sub the fries for tater tots which was perfect for him. Everything came out hot and fresh in a timely manner. The waitstaff were all very kind and refilled the teas whenever they walked back. As a first time visitor, the only thing confusing was not knowing if you were to seat yourself [yup, pick a table, any table!] and then cashing out if we were to go up to the stand and pay or pay at the table. [we went up to the little hostess/cashier stand and paid there] All in all it was a nice and easy place to dine with good food. Will definitely stop by again! read more

I love this place. The folks that opened this place used to work at the Ride and Gun Club on Fort Campbell, Kentucky, back in the day. And where they are now, I used to work in that building when it was Super Giant Dairy back in the day. I do miss Super Giant, but when Campbell's Kitchen moved from the old Nagey's building into that place, it just brought back memories of that building and that area all together. I love their food go there a lot of times to eat. I missed my time eating there with my parents back in the day. read more

Delicious Jager Schnitzel! I have ventured off of this meal only once to try the spicy pork, and...while it is tasty, it's not as good as the Jager Schnitzel! Nice large piece of pork, ponded out pretty evenly and fried to perfection. The sauce is good too...with the onions and the mushrooms - Yum! I always order mine with fries, but tried some onion rings today as well. Would be mo' better if they were fresh fries and rings....but hey, the Jager Schnitzel alone is worth the trip. I love eating here because it's close out here for the "country" side of Clarskville, that doesn't mean it's only for country folks this place is for everyone young and old. While the food is perfectly acceptable, and I actually found some of their Korean options to be quite good, but nothing here really stands out as being something I would come here for specifically. They also no longer serve liquor or beer; which for a restaurant that serves German and Korean food is strange to me. Honestly, I really think they should pick one style of food and focus on that. It seems like they are a classic American diner, but they have German and Korean food. I suppose the only benefit for them for having multiple different styles of food is that they managed to keep their menu small, and didn't try to cram it full of item's they can't manage. Here in Clarksville, we have a few places that have the incredible, unprecedented combination of American, German and Korean food all at the same joint. Now, if you're from here, you know why. If you're passing through or new to the area, you're like, WTFBBQ? I'll explain. Since we're an Army town, we get a huge eclectic mix of culture. Especially Korean and German, why? There are massive Army posts in both those countries. Single GI meets lovely lady in Korea, gets married, restations in Germany, ends up back home. Boom. German Seoul-Food. Get it?! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Anywho, Campbell's. Chuck Campbell and his wife, Mrs. "M" have been open for well over 10 years now. Previously they managed the Sportsmans Lodge on Ft Campbell (Restaurant/Bar/Club of epic proportion, well, it used to be, it's a long story). Chuck and Mrs M know how to run a casual dining facility. They have an emphasis on cleanliness and personal service. If you come with any regularity at all, they'll remember you. The building is actually an old cinder block grocery store, but they've made it in to a nice, spacious dining hall. Nothing fancy in the least, mind you, just comfortable. They have hamburgers, fried fish, chicken tenders, etc... but people come for the International food, not the typical grub. Without question, the most ordered item is schnitzel. A pork cutlet, pounded very thin, breaded in cracker meal and deep fried. Served either plain or with Jager gravy which is a mushroom, onion and green pepper brown gravy. Excellent, robust flavor. I'm still a big kid, I eat mine plain, with a big squeeze of lemon juice and ketchup. Yeah, yeah, laugh it up. The schnitzel is served with German cole slaw and German potato salad. Both are very vinegar-y and delicious. They fit the meat perfectly. The other big draw is the bulgogi. This is a Korean beef dish, mildly sweet and soy-ish and very delicious. I've had it a time or two, but honestly, I can't pass up the schnitzel if I go here. Another Korean item to consider is the hot pork. I've never had it, so I can't describe it. I just know it's spicy and people swear by it. Yelp made me choose the $$ category for price. I think that category is a little too obtuse. They're just over ten bucks per person. Nowhere near the top end of 30 that the $$ category could suggest. A non-food intangible Campbell's has is Gail. Gail is the single most skilled server on the entire planet. I don't think she has a gear lower than 5th. I have personally witnessed her waiting 20 tables simultaneously without sacrificing quality service. I don't know what on earth she takes, but I want some of it. Energy to the 50th degree. Oh, and not only is Gail the head waitress, she's also the bartender and friends, when Gail is making your drinks.... well.... watch out. Campbell's is a great place. I've never left there feeling less than satisfied. Stuffed, usually. Chuck or Mrs M are almost always are near the register to thank every guest for dining. Sometimes Campbell's will stay open for live bands. Usually about once a month, they'll stay open past their 8pm closing til midnight. Bands are hit or miss. Some are good, some are funny, some are lacking. But either way, Gail will be pouring drinks, and that's a reason to stay late. So, let's sum up. Go to Campbells. Order Schnitzel. The place looked nice, with blue and white plaid table clothes that slightly reminded me of Bavaria. Although it's in a repurposed fast food restaurant, it's very much mom and pops-style decor and not a dive; also it boasts an outdoor seating area as well, which is a charming European touch. The waitstaff was friendly; everyone was greeted with a "hello" as they entered. I ordered Jäger Schnitzel which came with a lemon slice, German potato salad, German coleslaw, a bread roll (with margarine spread), and lastly brown mushroom and onion gravy on the side. I also ordered a lemonade (which came in a can), and a piece of Key Lime Pie to go. Let me preface this by saying I lived in Germany on and off over five years; I genuinely love German Bavarian food, none more than a great Jäger Schnitzel, it's a meal everyone should try once. I enjoyed the meal overall, but it wasn't without its missteps, the main one arrived at my table with an excellent cut of schnitzel with the gravy in a bowl on the side, which quite literally was the first time I'd seen it that way. Part of the greatness that is Jäger Schnitzel is those last few minutes where it soaks up that gravy while still in the pan. Overall, the taste of the gravy was satisfactory (I'll come back to that), and while they cooked the schnitzel well, I've noticed a trend that permeates nearly every restaurant I've eaten at in the Clarksville area, under-seasoning. The German potato salad and coleslaw tasted great and didn't suffer from a lack of flavor, but I do have a slight gripe about the coleslaw, it's one that happens regularly: the juice from the slaw drains onto the plate giving every other item that sweet taste which puts me off when I'm enjoying a savory cut of pork in a nice mushroom gravy. The gravy's taste was adversely affected by the slaw juice, but not enough for me to not clean my plate. Still, it's a lesson learned should I once again order the schnitzel. I've yet to eat my key lime pie, but I'll try and remember to update this review once it's inhaled. Overall, I'd give the food three and a half stars, but since I can't figure out how, and the service was excellent, I'll happily round up. I would recommend this place with the caveat that the coleslaw should be on the side, while the gravy should be on the plate. Next time I go in, I'll try some of the Korean parts of the menu and leave another review. read more
