Would have guessed this was a Mexican restaurant just driving by, but a friend noted it was their favorite place to eat at when in Farmington and now we see why. This place does flavor very well and it's a mix between authentic and their take on things. Regardless, it's working. The enchilada's were loaded with meat. The masa used in the tamales was as perfect as it gets with flavor and moistness. The crunchy taco was fried to perfection and so yummy. And the salsa was amazing! The service was friendly and on point. The ambience made it feel like we were in an enclosed patio with a deli in it, interesting but comfortable. After hearing how good The Chile Pod is from several friends we decided to eat here while in town since our favorite restaurant was closed for the holiday weekend. The food was disappointing. I ordered the Navajo taco but it comes on Sopaipillas not Frybread and was not at all what I was hoping for or expecting. The chili rellano was also disappointing. The basket of Sopaipillas we ordered took so long we almost cancelled them, and then seemed to be possibly frozen/premade. However the biggest disappointment was the service. We stood at the front door area for almost 10 minutes waiting to be seated while 3 employees sat in the first booth not acknowledging our party. Had it been busy I may understand. Our waitress was nice enough but appeared to be over busy and irritated when we asked for items like cutlery and more salsa. Overall a lack luster experience. We will not return our next trip to Farmington. read more

I had the chile queso chicken, and it was AMAZING....grilled chicken on a bed of fajita-style vegetables with a mix of their green and red sauces topped with melted cheese. I loved my food. I know and love New Mexican Cuisine. I had one of the best Carne Adovada burritos I have ever had. The red chili had great flavor and texture. Service was exceptional. We sat near the bar and the bartender waited on us. He was unbelievably efficient. We had to wait for nothing. He handled everything with several tables and the bar without missing a beat. Decor is subdued and clean. Host staff was very friendly. We pass through Farmington a couple of times a year and will definitely stop here again. read more

The burger is served on a tortilla, covered with cheese and chili, then covered with fries. I then had them cover the fries with cheese and chili. It was excellent but it was so much I couldn't finish it all. The service was helpful, efficient, and very friendly. I live on the east coast and made a trip back. I of course wanted to eat here again since its been so long. I have been thinking of a Navajo taco for months. I was beyond disappointed. It was not done on traditional fry bread like they used to. It was on a bisquick bread in four squares. They did the same thing for the sopapillas. I was told they have a new chef from NY City. Came here for a Friday night dinner and drinks. First the happy hour is kind of a joke one margarita on special for $15 and a random white claw for $2. No draft or other drink specials on a Friday night. The food was good but the green chili stole the show, full of flavor and a really good addition to the combo plate. My husband and I stopped here on a long-distance road trip, and we were not disappointed! It was our first time in New Mexico, and we were so excited to have Xmas chile, and The Chile Pod delivered. We had great New Mexican cuisine in their outdoor dining area with our little dog. Since their New Mexican mac and cheese and red and green chili are "best in the Four Corners" I ordered both and they were delicious! We took the leftovers home for next day's lunch beans. My husband got the enchiladas with carne adovada, half of which were smothered in green chili sauce, half in red - also delicious. While we are no experts in New Mexican cuisine we do live in the California wine country and have friends whose Mexican restaurants / trucks when "best of" in our area. The food was freshly made, non greasy, flavorful, and plentiful. Service was great. I've always driven by this place and never thought to check it out until someone recommended it to me. I parked in the back since the front parking was all taken. Entering from the back you have two large steps to traverse. Once inside you have to make your way to the front host to be seated. The host was nice and welcoming. A patron who was passing by said that the food would not disappoint. Our waitress was Lindsey who was very nice, prompt, and attentive. There were free chips and salsa that were both house made and fresh! Me and my partner both ordered burgers. One open face chile burger and one jumping jalapeño burger. The fries were smothered in chile and cheese but remained crispy (I hate soggy fries). They ask you how you want your burger so I got it cooked medium and it was delicious. Lindsey refilled our chips and kept the drinks flowing (Dr pepper and lemonade). I rarely find great food that I write a review for or have the urge to come back for but the Chile Pod has a new repeat customer. The ambiance is a mildly dim area with booths and tables with nice open space in between. I met a waiter outside when leaving and he was friendly and inviting and was excited to tell us about his experience working there. He loved it and the food shows the other employees do too. Great food!! Excellent awesome food here and excellent service by Bertha & her team. We walk in with 6 of us for dinner and we were sat quickly. Bertha bought us Chips & Salsa 3 baskets of chips and 3 salsa's for the table. We don't even have to ask, she's super friendly and hilarious. We ordered and she and another server brought out our food in no time. We all were very happy with what We ordered. No leftovers. Fresh tasting green & Red chili. I had on green chili on my Navajo taco spice & heat was absolutely there on point. My cousin had Christmas chili which is Red chili & green. It's good too he let me taste it. We walked around at an event in town & when we didn't get that text we went back to the restaurant & waited. About 7:15 they sat another party at the outside tables, we asked again when we could expect to be seated & they said another 30-40". They did have a high rise table in the bar and other tables empty! We had two little kids who were very hungry and crying so we left and went elsewhere. We did have a party of 9 adults & 2 kids.
