Would have guessed this was a Mexican restaurant just driving by, but a friend noted it was their favorite place to eat at when in Farmington and now we see why. This place does flavor very well and it's a mix between authentic and their take on things. Regardless, it's working. The enchilada's were loaded with meat. The masa used in the tamales was as perfect as it gets with flavor and moistness. The crunchy taco was fried to perfection and so yummy. And the salsa was amazing! Another one of my all time Farmington favorites. Not sure how it has taken me so long to post about them. I've been coming here for years, the chili is great, lists of great NM stables, but for me, it's hard not ordering huevous rancheros every time because they are so tasty. I had their old fashioned to drink, and it was such a unique flavor with their spiced syrup...it was perfect. Their salsa is amazing...and will definitely clear out your sinuses! My friend got the combo plate with their spiced syrup chile relleno options and a mix of their red and green sauces. She loved every bite. I had the chile queso chicken, and it was AMAZING....grilled chicken on a bed of fajita-style vegetables with a mix of their green and red sauces topped with melted cheese. I live on the east coast and made a trip back. I of course wanted to eat here again since its been so long. I have been thinking of a Navajo taco for months. I was beyond disappointed. It was not done on traditional fry bread like they used to. It was on a bisquick bread in four squares. They did the same thing for the sopapillas. I was told they have a new chef from NY City. I loved my food. I know and love New Mexican Cuisine. I had one of the best Carne Adovada burritos I have ever had. The red chili had great flavor and texture. Service was exceptional. We sat near the bar and the bartender waited on us. He was unbelievably efficient. We had to wait for nothing. He handled everything with several tables and the bar without missing a beat. The burger is served on a tortilla, covered with cheese and chili, then covered with fries. I then had them cover the fries with cheese and chili. It was excellent but it was so much I couldn't finish it all. The service was helpful, efficient, and very friendly. I had the Smokin' Grilled Cheese BLT and the Green Chile Stew and hubs had the stew and the Blueberry Goat Cheese Salad. The Green Chile Stew was amazing with the right amount of heat! Came here for a Friday night dinner and drinks. First the happy hour is kind of a joke one margarita on special for $15 and a random white claw for $2. No draft or other drink specials on a Friday night. The food was good but the green chili stole the show, full of flavor and a really good addition to the combo plate. My husband and I stopped here on a long-distance road trip, and we were not disappointed! It was our first time in New Mexico, and we were so excited to have Xmas chile, and The Chile Pod delivered. I've always driven by this place and never thought to check it out until someone recommended it to me. I parked in the back since the front parking was all taken. Entering from the back you have two large steps to traverse. Once inside you have to make your way to the front host to be seated. The host was nice and welcoming. A patron who was passing by said that the food would not disappoint. Our waitress was Lindsey who was very nice, prompt, and attentive. There were free chips and salsa that were both house made and fresh! Me and my partner both ordered burgers. One open face chile burger and one jumping jalapeño burger. The fries were smothered in chile and cheese but remained crispy (I hate soggy fries). They ask you how you want your burger so I got it cooked medium and it was delicious. Lindsey refilled our chips and kept the drinks flowing (Dr pepper and lemonade). I rarely find great food that I write a review for or have the urge to come back for but the Chile Pod has a new repeat customer. The ambiance is a mildly dim area with booths and tables with nice open space in between. I met a waiter outside when leaving and he was friendly and inviting and was excited to tell us about his experience working there. He loved it and the food shows the other employees do too. We had great New Mexican cuisine in their outdoor dining area with our little dog. Since their New Mexican mac and cheese and red and green chili are "best in the Four Corners" I ordered both and they were delicious! We took the leftovers home for next day's lunch beans. My husband got the enchiladas with carne adovada, half of which were smothered in green chili sauce, half in red - also delicious. While we are no experts in New Mexican cuisine we do live in the California wine country and have friends whose Mexican restaurants / trucks when "best of" in our area. The food was freshly made, non greasy, flavorful, and plentiful. Service was great. We arrived at the restaurant at 5:30, we were told there was a 30-45" wait & they would text us when a table became available. We walked around at an event in town & when we didn't get that text we went back to the restaurant & waited. We asked if we could put two tables together out on the patio seating and were told no they couldn't do that so we continued to wait. About 7:15 they sat another party at the outside tables, we asked again when we could expect to be seated & they said another 30-40". They did have a high rise table in the bar and other tables empty! We had two little kids who were very hungry and crying so we left and went elsewhere. We did have a party of 9 adults & 2 kids. I feel that having to wait an hour & a half and then to be told we would have to wait another 30-40" is beyond ridiculous. We are regulars at this restaurant, we won't be going back! read more

Holy **** Got the sampler with fried chile relleno that was actually the most delicious thing I've ever eaten.
