I found the interaction inappropriate, presumptuous, and inconsistent with the level of professionalism I would expect from a customer-facing employee. Upon entering the store, the sales associate greeted me by saying, "Hey Mama." I was taken aback by this and asked her directly why she was referring to me as "Mama." Rather than acknowledging that the comment was inappropriate or simply apologizing, she responded, "I assume you were a mama." I left your store immediately. I find this response particularly concerning. The sales associate did not know me, had no personal information about me, and had no basis for making an assumption about my personal circumstances. Regardless of what she may have intended, referring to a customer as "Mama" based on an assumption about their appearance, pregnancy, or parental status is presumptuous and crosses an appropriate professional boundary.

I don't have kids, so what the heck do I know about buying gifts for them? Answer - nothing! And…read morethat's why a store like Little Peeps is great. I was suddenly hospitalized with baby #2 and with the threat of induction any day needed to get my second carseat installed ASAP. My husband and I have crazy hectic entrepreneurial lives and the ladies at Love Me Do literally offered to drive to St-Joes and install our seat in the parking lot if needed. I've both worked retail and owned my own business for years and the care that goes into what they do is beyond amazing customer service. But to my surprise, Catherine was particularly very attentive to our needs and even went back to their stockroom a couple of times to get me a more suitable size. It was excellent customer service! The only issue I had was when we were paying I didn't check the price. When the cashier scanned the item, the price was a lot higher than what was on the tag. The item was supposed to be 40% off but in effect, I ended up paying for the full price... So I recommend this store but do check your items and receipt before you leave.

I have also worked them as a buyer/designer for clients without any issue. I would say that their store is the finest in Toronto for beautiful baby and children things. I was so happy to find the French brands I purchased, while living in New York, and they also offer unique, well-chosen local things. I buy almost exclusively from them for my children and for gifts. The woman that I encountered was very friendly with a lot of information but not at all pushy. She helped me understand how winter items for strollers work and gave suggestions on what I might be interested in. When visiting the store while the gentleman was there I received a much colder reception. That said - there are some nice items for sale and when I am in the area I will probably stop in.
