I'm guessing Daniel Seymore is renting the shop off Malcom, but it's no bad thing. 3 stores specialising in meat might have been too much, especially in a place littered with raw meat. Known as the grocery store on Butchers Row, Daniel Seymore sells the other stuff. From drinks, including milk, to eggs, to cheese. It's a nice little shop that doesn't focus on any one thing. Any shop that has a sign that reads 'Any size block of cheddar for £1.50' cannot be a bad place. They prices are unbeatable, and it feels like a quality shop, rather than a load of stuff that's been thrown together. To hold on to the Malcom Michael crown, I suppose it would have to be worth it!

Now they've got a setup smack dab in the middle of the Arndale, and I couldn't be happier - though I'm certain my midsection is going to get puffy fast. I can never resist buying in bulk to get a bit of a discount, and usually go for the spicier varieties. My favourites are: El Gringo Chili Lime & Tequila; Caramelised Rioja & Onion Cheddar; Jamaican Jerk Spicy Gourmet Cheddar; and the classic Black Bob Extra Mature Cheddar. Those are just the standards for me, but there's always something new to keep you coming back for more. They come out with new flavours on a monthly basis, and with about 12-18 cheeses available to taste test, you're bound to find something you love. They've also got a large selection of wines and chutneys to pair with the cheeses you get. I've had some tastings of the chutneys and they're quite flavourful, but the cheese is what keeps bringing me back for more. If you see me walking out of here with 5 wheels of cheese, just try not to judge me...and help me find some crackers.

Wow, I love this place!…read more If you're into the 'deli life' of fine cheeses, wine, gourmet chutneys, crackers and all things treat-wise then this place should be somewhere you need to hit if you're in the Hebden Bridge area. We popped in twice while holidaying around here for 3 days and bought some lovely picky items to enjoy a home picnic. The cheese was excellent and with Camembert and Old Amsterdam served perfectly ripe and ready to dive in to! The wine selection is really impressive and don't miss out on the olives too - the chilli ones have a real kick but really hit the spot. Get there early as well so as you can get bread, we were lucky enough to get a couple of ciabatta rolls on the last visit, very tasty! Not the cheapest place on the planet but perfect for a little treat or to live the 'dolce vita' as often as possible!

The emphasis is on high quality and you will find things here that you will not find elsewhere in this region. The wine selection is excellent. It's not comprehensive but the stock is thoughtfully chosen and is particularly recommended if you are looking for something out of the ordinary and a cut above the usual supermarket fare. There are also some speciality beers and a good range of spirits, including some less well-known single malt whiskies. The food is very good and covers a wide range of cheeses, meats, condiments, preserves and other speciality foods. I can recommend the Craster kippers and the haggis is very good also. The service is excellent, being friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.

These butchers are better and always cheaper than leading supermarkets. Another added bonus to this wonderful butchers is the cheese. They have every cheese you need but does any of you now that Martin Platt out of Coronation Street has now turned to cheese making? NO well he has and this shop is one of the few that stock it.
