I moved away from portage over a decade ago and still think about the Chatterbox. Genuinely a one of a kind place with some amazing people

The Chatterbox is my favorite place on earth. If I don't get my Friday mocha nothing goes right until the next Friday. And the treasures you will find there - unbelievable! I have so much in my collection that came from there. And the real treasures are Mayor Fox and Bonnie. They are the nicest people and their homemade brownies are amazing. One of my favorites is the iced mocha. You have to try it. And the Mighty Mayor - exquisite. The atmosphere is understated and makes it feel like home. read more

Great coffee served by an extremely pleasant staff. I like the great collection of "Grandma's attic" stuff for sale at nice prices.

We stayed at an Airbnb in town that included a breakfast at The Chatterbox. The Chatterbox's friendly owner made us feel like we were part of the town. Wonderful pastries and excellent coffee. Don't settle for industrial coffee in a paper cup when you can get the real stuff in ceramic and sit in a civilized cafe eating a fresh, homemade muffin. read more

Great local coffee shop! The staff was so friendly and helpful. They serve CommonPlace coffee which is great! The baked goods are amazing. I've been to a lot of coffee shops and their prices are probably the best I have seen. Free wifi, lots of seating and power outlets for those wanting to stay for a while. My friends and I were staying at the Quinn Inn a couple doors down, which includes free breakfast at this cute cafe. Everyone we met in Portage was super friendly, and the people at this cafe were not an exception. I loved their chicken salad sandwich with sourdough and their large drinks! This place has a lot of seats, and we felt very comfortable sitting and chatting (haha) for a while after our meals. Also it's very fun to just look at all the decorations! The Chatterbox is easily one of the finest establishments in Portage Pennsylvania. It has a fantastic variety of Coffee and Tea, Specialty Coffee Drinks, freshly made bake goods, and daily lunch specials. It is built in a historic building that originally served as a town department store. The creaky wood floors, nostalgic decor, and unique seating options (including a soda fountain!) make the Chatterbox a must! Try their Gobs! read more

Our visit to Portage included lunch at The Chatterbox. We enjoyed fresh sandwiches (Chicken Salad and Sloppy Joes) and hot tea (the green tea with peach is lovely). Nice little find in a sleepy town. The store is nested in an old town department store, and there is a lot of historical ambiance. They have coffee, ice cream and other sandwich type fare. Recommended you stop in! read more

My wife and I were looking for a good cup of coffee, and we did find it at The Chatterbox! We enjoyed our Americanos, and decided to try some of the delicious-looking baked goods. I found the cinnamon roll tasty, and added a bowl of oatmeal just to feel like I was being healthy. Turned out to be quite a large bowl full, and could choose toppings like local blueberries. The atmosphere is very welcoming, and the owners are so friendly that we stuck around for a while to look around and enjoy their company. Was out for a day trip with my wife, she needed a coffee and Sheetz wasn't going to cut it. Pulled out the yelp app and low and behold the chatter box popped up. Awesome little place to get some brew, if you blink, you'll miss it though. The owners are great and very friendly. Glad we found it. The Chatterbox is one of the things I miss most about working in Portage. While they have a somewhat limited menu, in a year, I never ordered anything there I would not recommend. Homemade bread most days for chicken salad and tuna salad sandwiches (which were like $2!) and PHENOMENAL baked goods (gobs, cookies, muffins), plus top quality coffee, espresso and lattes make this place a winner! Owners Bob and Bonnie are super cool and take time to chat, so don't expect fast-food speed service! The Chatterbox is a gem worth seeking out if you're in the Portage area. read more

I was out in Portage for business and stopped at the Chatterbox for a cup of tea. As I sat there enjoying the wonderful fresh brew loose white blueberry tea, I noticed that they had sandwiches and soups. I had a few moments so I ordered a half of chicken salad and chili. Both were FABULOUS! My total bill was $5.75!!! I have never had such a great lunch for a great price. Also, I wanted to add a tip to my bill and the owner said no, we just ask that you come back. Came in from out of state and was looking for a place to sit and enjoy a good cup of coffee. Found this place on YELP and was not disappointed. The coffee was excellent and the atmosphere was wonderful. The food was just as good and the prices were perfect. Best of all it's a local place and the people are just wonderful. read more

I did not care for it. Limited menu. They had some kind of flourless cookies that were awful. Not a friendly place. I found a couple better places in Portage. read more
