Everyone goes here because it "used to" be the go to place back when the original owner ran it, but it has gone downhill big time with this new owner! The food is overpriced, the portions are obscenely small. One time I got cheesecake for a dessert and no joke, it was the size of an Oreo cookie. I told the waitress that it was insane how small it was and she responded with - but it's really good! Are you serious? I believe it was $7 and it was one bite! You know they're ripping you when you see the owner's expensive sports car parked out back! Nothing like not hiding how bad you're overcharging your customers! No thank you! This place has a very rustic feel to it. I went with my roommate and his family, when you first walk in it almost feels like you are walking into a Log Cabin. There is no hostess/host waiting to greet you, you just walk in & sit at a table of your choice. We were promptly greeted by our waitress shortly afterwords. We ordered a large pepperoni Pizza to share as our meal & also an order of fried cauliflower and buffalo chips as our appetizers. The buffalo chips were delicious! Just the right amount of buffalo and a nice dousing of seasoning, ranch came on the side and it complimented the buffalo chips very well. I didn't touch the cauliflower because I've never been a fan of it, but according to my roommate it was the bomb diggity dang! The pizza came out not far afterwards and it was delicious! It had the perfect cheese to sauce ratio and it was slightly crisp, equaling out to a fine treat! I finally got to try PJ's before I graduate from College and I had a very good time! I will probably be stopping by in the near future to try some other things on the Menu. read more

Service not impressive. They are just so disorganized. They have multiple people operating behind the bar and no one is in charge. It is pizza night and the first thing we are told is that it is a 35 min wait for pizza. WTF. One of these days they will figure it out. They were out of blue moon, then changed the keg because no one really knew it. Then they had to cut up the oranges, because no one prepped that. The kids working are unfortunately clueless and no one gives them direction or training. There was one guy that was on the ball, but he too seemed to have 25 jobs and couldn't focus. This place only stays open because there isn't anything else around. Competition would close them in a week. read more

Pj's Tavern is far from a 5 star restaurant, but it's good for a bite to eat when you're in Cresson. Pj's prides itself as an Irish pub, but, truth be told, you can find more American grub on the menu than Irish. The menu includes everything from burgers, wings, french fries, fish, salads, etc. Typical bar food. The waitresses, from my experiences, have always been friendly. Granted, the interior could perhaps use some updates here and there, but Pj's is good for a bite to eat in Cresson... Just leave your diet and health food at the door. read more

First off, PJ's is not a five-star establishment. I have no idea why anyone would rate a small pizza bar in a town of about 1000 people as the same quality of food, service, and atmosphere as Lacroix at The Rittenhouse. The service here is better than it had been but is still insufferably slow. I don't know if it's servers or kitchen but seeing as drink orders come quickly while food doesn't, my money is on the kitchen. Be prepared to spend hours here, much of your down time happens between your order and the delivery of your order. Expect incorrect orders and attitudes if you say that your order is incorrect (and, again, more waiting if you want it to be corrected). Again, this is getting better than it had been (check out reviews on Four Square). If you have young children, there is a small game room / arcade in back to help keep them busy while waiting. Bring their devices; there's free wi-fi here. The pizzas taste fresh but other entrees have that frozen/defrosted flavor to them. The thin crust pizza's good quality is the crust itself. The sauce has a jarred flavor and the cheese is sparse. The decor is all Irish, with some old photos and newspaper clippings (primarily sports-related and about the local high school). There are meeting spaces which are usually quiet and easily available. Seating includes booths, tables, and a bar. For the best service, sit at the bar. Pluses: free wi-fi, friendly regulars, clean, newer bathroom (ADA-friendly), pizza (although it takes about an hour to get a pizza), large private parking lot (well-maintained in winter), long established business. Minuses: Step-up to get in side entrance not ADA-friendly, old bathrooms are unsettling (look for the newer bathrooms, past the bar) and not ADA-friendly, service times, food (with exception of pizza). read more

The worst food I have ever had in my life. The wings were not cooked (raw inside). I got so sick from this place. They had BAD service WARM BEER. I told the unfriendly owner (I think his name is Larry) about the service and food under cooked and he said "would you like a box to take it home". What a poorly run place and over priced. You can drive 15 minutes down the road to Altoona and get better food, service and at a better price. I watched the owner bring a pizza box to a family with it under his sweaty arm with a stain on it for the customer to take the rest of their food home. WOW! RED FLAG! My family and I will NEVER return.... This place should be shut down on health violations. The people that made good comments about this place have to be out of their mind. They can't even get your order correct. My wife ordered a hamburger and got a pizza. If you like bad service, warm beer, bad food and over priced maybe this is your place but we will NEVER EVER GO BACK...... read more

Not bad for dive bar atmosphere, but not much of a tap selection. Buffalo chicken salad was passable for bar food, but I don't recommend the bread pudding. It comes drenched in nasty fake-Maple breakfast syrup. Yuck! That'll teach me to order dessert at the bar! read more

As a local, this is a great place to gather with friends and family. Great tavern food - the Cresson gold wings (honey mustard) are the best. Also has great pizza - especially if you are a fan of thin crust. A must-stop around St. Patrick's Day, always great live music and green beer! read more

The wings were undercooked and barely had any sauce.They must've run out of fries, because everyone at my table that got them did not get very many... Good food, fun and relaxed atmosphere, no smoking allowed even though it's a tavern, so we enjoyed our decent steaks and beers in complete comfort. Our waitress greeted us warmly and, when she realized we were out-of-towners, she chatted about home and travel, not intrusive, just friendly and nice. Steaks were good, cheap, chatter of other diners added to the good atmosphere. When we go back to Cresson to watch trains, we'll definitely eat at PJ's again. read more

The atmosphere in this place is awesome. There are themes almost all of the time. The staff looks like they are having fun, and they always chat with the customers. There is a band playing most of the time and the bands they pick are the best around. The have a wide variety of foods and they are DELICIOUS!!!! The bar is nice, and have a wide variety of beverages. They also have an arcade in the back for kids. read more
