It would be like if you combined the Westin with a dude ranch with a Michelin restaurant. My group was there in January, so as you can see from the pictures, it was very dry/ brown, but im sure in the spring/summer it is gorgeous and green. The rooms are well appointed; the sunsets gorgeous. They have a lovely community porch/lookout area where you can sit wine or coffee and just soak in the scenery. They also have a community fridge for guests to utilize. There is a Nespresso in every room, as well as filtered water. They also have some very sweet farm animals (donkeys, horse, dog) that you can play with and pet. My only complaint about the rooms is that the showers have low water pressure. I assume this is b/c they are on different infrastructure than an "in the city" hotel. Not a big deal to most people, but i have long thick hair and so like strong water pressure to wash my hair quickly. As for the restaurant, it reminds me of a friendlier, more texas version of French Laundry (the famous restaurant in the Napa Valley area). There is a fixed menu of 5 courses, all of which were very tasty!! I would have liked bigger portions, but the quality was great. I greatly enjoyed the food, the other guests, and the nice but not invasive wait staff. The staff largely leaves you alone, so make sure to expect that when you stay here. They are not constantly bugging you or checking up on you. If you are looking for a lovely country getaway, do make the trip out to Coleman, TX, and spend a night or two at Ranch Loma!

Robert led us to our gorgeous king room where the most delicious yuzu margaritas, prepared by Laurie were waiting for us. We enjoyed relaxing with our drinks before dinner, taking in the beautiful landscape and visiting with the other guests. There are several very comfortable (and stylish) outdoor seating areas. Really, everything at Rancho Loma is comfortable (and stylish). Dinner was 5-courses of PERFECTION. I brought wine and my hubby brought a couple of bottles of beer which were kept cool until he was ready for them. Hubby was super impressed with the little pilsner glass with orange zest that Robert brought to the table for his beer. When I asked for bread, the waitress brought 2 freshly warmed slices drizzled with olive oil. (It's all about the little touches, you know.) I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite course, so I'll say it was a toss-up between the Lasagna Bolognese and the Akaushi strip steak. This was the first steak I've had in 8 months and boy was it worth it!! For breakfast, Laurie whipped up the best huevos rancheros in the world. SO fresh & delicious! I really cannot recommend Rancho Loma enough. Service, food & the accommodations were all A++. Robert and Laurie have created something truly special and we can't wait to return again!

Great food - lots of meals with exotic meats. We got to taste Black Buck, Zebra,Pier David, Fallow Deer and more. The guides will help put you on the game and help find the trophy you want to harvest even if it takes multiple attempts or even if you want to change animal types mid hunt like one of my nephew's did. Plus they helped him learn to field dress and skin his trophies. Which he really wanted to learn that skill and Jeff explained each step in the process for him. This made this hunt special for him on several levels. Plus they offered a tour of the Taxidermy shop that will be doing some work for us. The taxidermist does some super work. Its this kind of personal interaction between the staff and guests that makes the Texas Divide ranch a very special place. If they have an exotic you want to hunt, as we were not disappointed by our bucket list animals then neither will you be. I took a great trophy Ibex. What you see in the brochure is what you can get too. To bad you can't see the sincere energy and warmth that comes from these folks who treat you like family in there home! Its a great place to hunt! John C. Crossville TN.

I read it in previous reviews, skeptical of the cliche, but Texas Divide truly treats you like family. Judy and Lisa prepared amazing meals, guides Jeff, Toby, Zack, and Caleb took the 4 of us out and devoted all their time and energy into giving us the greatest hunting experience, far exceeding all of our expectations. I was teamed up with Toby and we had a blast! He is a home run! Thanks Toby!! My friends and I were all successful in our hunts and cant wait to plan our next trip back!!

From the moment you arrive, it feels like you're out in the middle of nowhere--in the best way possible. The rustic atmosphere is incredible, and on the cool day we visited, they had a wood-burning fireplace going right in the middle of the dining room. It made the whole experience feel cozy and authentic. What really stood out, though, was the people. The service was absolutely top-notch from start to finish. I even had the chance to chat with a woman who's been working there for over 20 years--she shared some of the restaurant's history and how it's evolved over time, which made the visit even more special. For food, we started with the fried quail legs--perfectly cooked and seriously delicious (we could've easily eaten more). For the main course, I had the ribeye cooked medium rare, and it was spot on--full of flavor and didn't need a thing added. My wife went with the hamburger steak and loved it as well. Great food, even better people, and an atmosphere that's hard to beat. We'll definitely be back.

The ambience is fine; sortuv a rustic cabin feel. We've had great service the two times we went, and the table bread is wonderful. Not impressed with the thick, (cooked?) carpaccio or the overcooked brussel sprouts. Compared to the USA, it's a 3/5. But in Abilene? Maybe a 4/5.

To be honest I knew nothing about it, accept my buddies would head out this way Hunting. Now that I have had the opportunity to stay here and the surrounding areas... I can honestly say it is one of my very favorite towns in Texas! The Phoenix Nest Guest Houses are where we stay. On this trip we decided to visit the "Guest House". The Guest House is located between Llano and Mason off Hwy 29. Located on the Kassel Ranch, this home was built in the 1800's and was home for 3 generations of the Kassell family. In the mid 50's there was a terrible fire that left it vacant for nearly 40 years. The house was completely restored in the mid 90's with the original exterior still intact. If this house is not enough, the ranch and beautiful landscape that surrounds it is even more grand. I spent endless hours outside with my better half trying to soak it all in. The porches were plenty worn out once we left. We sat outside, sipped on Iced Tea, and watched the sunset with the donkeys in the evening. The landscape is another type of beautiful at night. In the mornings, I had breakfast made and coffee ready for the sunrise. It did not disappoint us and was always a great start to the day. The Phoenix Guest Houses are the perfect place to stay while visiting Llano and they have numerous houses to choose from for different occasions. Not only are all their houses beautiful in their own way, but the owners are a joy as well. They are so passionate about Llano, Texas and I can see why.
