Now after attending, I can say that this spot really exceeded expectations. One of the best things about this spot was having a large variety of different areas for guests to spread out and socialize. This led to a much more relaxed atmosphere for talking than most weddings that I've attended (I'm not huge into dancing). Even throughout the afternoon and evening, it was very nice to be able to enjoy appetizers on the beautiful rooftop deck, enjoy music and dancing on the dance floor, while still being able to carry on a conversation in the large main dining room -- or head downstairs to lounge around to avoid the crowds and noise. As I attended for a family wedding, I was also able to utilize the generously sized suites that had more than enough room for everyone to bring items they needed and have space to get ready for the event. The Haight has done the look of a rustic venue better than most places that I've seen. One thing that I really appreciated is that the look is rustic, but the facilities themselves are in great shape and modern. There were also plenty of great photo spots all around the venue that were lit nicely and contributed to guests having plenty of photo opportunities that they could create on their own. For those who were looking to rest, I did enjoy having sofas and softer cushioned chairs available to relax in. Overall, excellent venue that I would love to attend another wedding in the future. A beautiful facility with friendly service and lots of space to move around make this a great gathering spot.

I don't know if there's a negative thing I can say about hiring Plan it Perfect for my wedding…read morecoordination - I wish I could have Rachel and her team with me at all times to field everything disorganized that comes my way. My now wife and I got engaged 3.5 months ago, and went all-in on planning our wedding for last weekend. With 3 months till d-day, we raced to find a wedding coordinator to ensure our speedy wedding would go off without a hitch. Thank goodness we came across some recommendations for Plan it Perfect. And thank goodness they had availability for our day. Rachel knew it was a bit of a quick and DIY wedding, but she jumped on the challenge - there to steer us in all our indecisions. I had most of the major planning done, but needed plenty of guidance with the details as the day drew near. She dealt with wedding party antics, awkward family dynamics, last minute decisions, and everything else we threw at her with grace. Her two assistants, Kim and Jess, stepped in to ensure the flow of the evening, while not making sure we didn't feel rushed or out of control. When I say that Rachel, Kim and Jess saved my wedding - it is no exaggeration. My wife and I's caterer, little did we know, was in sky high over its head. The ladies with Plan it Perfect didn't let us see them sweat, they kept themselves calm and at the helm... While they dealt with the caterer showing up an hour late, missing half their poorly trained staff, and completely unable to set a table or bar. Myself and my bride were none the wiser the entire time. It wasn't until service started that I saw how much of a shitshow the catering company really was. Yet, Rachel intervened and her team picked up the slack, jumping in to clear tables and coach waiters. It's because of them I was able to dance the night away, unbothered by the terribly late food and disaster of a bar, amongst other things too frustrating to mention. If you are thinking about whether or not you should hire a wedding coordinator, hire one. And if you're going to hire one, hire Rachel Hoffberger. She cares. Her team cares. And they're damn good at their job.

Let me tell you, it did not disappoint! The new location within the Bell Works Chicagoland campus is a thing of beauty. The design aesthetic is what you would expect from a high end brand like GNO and the best part is that they make it feel inviting and like home. Just like at home, we kicked off the evening in the kitchen area greeting friends and ordering drinks. I really liked that we had the option to cater food through a GNO catering partner or coordinate a pot luck amongst our friends. The hosts were amazing and it was an honor to have the man, the myth, the legend Alex live and in person with us! I am not the type to break out a board game for fun, but my friends and I agreed that GNO is on a different level and has a game to meet the knowledge, interest and physical ability of every player. 2 hours of fun, games and laughs flew by and each of our friends who attended for the first time were raving about their evening and how they were planning to tell their friends, family, and employers about GNO. It is obvious that the owners (Brandon & Aaron) have dedicated their time and talent to curating a unique experience that brings families and friends together. If you are interested in a game night but don't want to go through the hassle of hosting, GNO to the rescue!

Today they seem to be more social and civic-oriented. The chapter near me is in Elgin, IL, a distant western burb of Chicago, just south of Interstate 90, and their Friday night fare offers a choice of Haddock, Catfish, Walleye, Shrimp, or a Grilled Chicken Breast, including sides of slaw, baked potato, fries, rings, or seasoned baby reds. Rolls and butter are also provided as well as generous amounts of tartar sauce, lemon and butter. All entrees are priced between $11-$13, and service is from 5-8PM Fridays at the hall, which is located at 112 Villa Street in Elgin. Parking is in the rear of the building, service is on the second floor. There is a full bar, and their hours are longer than just the dinner service. We opted for the catfish, as it was a whole fish, bone-in, lightly battered, and it's been difficult for us to find bone-in cat lately, most everyone serves filets. American habits, I guess.  Also had the walleye, and exceptionally large filet, nicely breaded, and went with the onion rings for a side, large whites with a tasty thick beer batter. Both fish selections were prepared perfectly. Crispy coatings, flaky, moist flesh. The slaw was creamy but with a little bit of kick to it. Service was fast with an affable professional waitperson who came around just often enough to make sure our drinks were kept full. I had been once before. 2016 apparently, and I wrote about it on this site. At that time, the service was on the lower level, but it's moved upstairs which is roomier and lighter. I'll go several more times before Easter, I guarantee it. While I haven't checked their calendar recently, they also used to serve special dinners on National and German holidays.

Could not have nicer things to say about working with My Chef and Jamie Walsh for our wedding day…read morecatering. We met Jamie at our venue's vendor expo and were immediately impressed by their services, pricing, and vast food offerings. It was a no brainer to book with their group! We had our tasting a couple months before our wedding day; which is complimentary to the couple and a $50 charge for any additional guest to join. They have you select 8-10 appetizers, 2 salads, and 4 entrees to taste at their Naperville location. They also have displays of china, silverware, glasses and more to help couples select what aligns aesthetically for their special day. Jamie worked with us to make small modifications to their standard offerings to make the food exactly what we wanted! Our wedding day came and we were floored by the quality/presentation of food, level of detail in place settings, and service from all staff members. We had multiple guests say that this was some of the best wedding food they've had, steaks were not over cooked, and food tasted fresh. Jamie also let us add desserts a week out to reallocate money from a couple of guests who last minute were unable to attend. Their team was even nice enough to service items not purchased through their group: disposables for the late night snack, display and refilling of cupcakes, etc. Overall, their group went above and beyond for us under Jamie's leadership. Our tables looked great, our food was wonderful, and their team was fabulous. We truly appreciate all they've done for us and could not recommend them more! Disappointing experience despite a fresh and new business relationship. We have used this catering…read morecompany for multiple corporate events and have spent considerable money with them. Historically, the food and service have been very good, which makes our experience with our most recent BBQ event particularly disappointing. The weather was questionable the morning of the event, so we understood the decision to precook the burgers and brats. However, the weather ultimately cooperated, and the event proceeded as planned. We specifically requested that we use at least one large gas grill we provided, even if only to keep the grill/char lines going, but that did not happen. The catering team arrived on time, but the setup was not completed as expected. Two chefs who had originally been scheduled to be onsite to cook the food ultimately spent much of the event standing around with very little involvement. More importantly, the food was served lukewarm to cold even though it arrived in hotboxes, and some food was undercooked/raw. The sternos were not lit until well after the food had been set up and less than 10 minutes before mealtime, which did little to address the temperature problem. For the price we paid, the quality of service and temperature of the food were simply not acceptable. I immediately raised my concerns with the event planner after the event. When I didn't receive a follow-up, I emailed to express our disappointment. To the event planner's credit, she responded and said the owner wanted to address the matter personally and would contact me after returning from out of town. That was over a month ago, and we have still received no communication. A coworker who also helps coordinate our company events separately contacted her point of contact at the company, but also received no response. What is most disappointing is not simply that one event did not meet expectations. We have been a significant repeat customer, and we expected our concerns to be acknowledged and addressed professionally. Instead, we received no follow-up at all. We have had good experiences with this caterer in the past, which is why this situation has been frustrating. Unfortunately, the combination of cold food, a lack of attention during the event, and zero follow-up afterward has made us decide to seek catering elsewhere for our corporate events.
