Our oldest hit the teenage years at a speed that we weren't prepared for. After speaking with…read moreparents; reading articles and books; and personal experience, there was so much of the behavior that was "normal" (not to be confused with Good). My concern was in finding ways to minimize the amount of resentment we were building as parents, and finding ways to better communicate and bond, during this VERY TOUGH development time (Lord help us all). I found Teen Therapy Center and reached out. Kent called me and spent an amount of time on the phone with us that I felt exceeded how much time any healthcare professional had spent with us in the past. Fast forward a few months of weekly visits, and although we are far from the MAGIC cure of teenage attitude challenges, I feel confident that all of us are on the same track as far as bonding and building a healthy relationship. As issues come up, we reach out to Kent. I hesitate to text him because (1) I've never been able to reach out to a provider that way (2) I'm afraid he'll find us a burden and fire us. I'm grateful that he takes the time to reach back out to me. The process is not inexpensive, by any means; however, for us, the lifetime damage that we can cause ourselves as a family, far outweighs the financial aspect of this therapy. In Kent's (and the Center's) defense, I will say that he is active in the community, offering free blogs, webinars, events, to serve the community. He is active in trying to find ways to provide more cost affordable services. It is unfair to accuse Kent and his team of being more concerned about money, than of our children's well-being. That is absolutely not true.

Initially I was a bit wary at the prospect of even starting therapy, but when I finally decided to take the plunge I was treated with a prompt and informative email; from the very beginning, she was responsive and attentive to my needs. She recommended an over the phone consult and paired it with a questionnaire for me to fill out in order to get a sense of who I was/am as a person. Those two small gestures allowed me to feel comfortable, and gave me a solid sense of who I was going to be spending 1:1 time with for my sessions. Since the first interactions going forward it has been a rewarding experience. I've gained definitely gained perspective and insights from my time spent with her- she's challenged me, provided me with out of session tasks, recommended supplemental readings, as well as offering ideas of personal projects to further my insights into what I want and how that's possible. She has been non-judgmental, is a great listener, provides great counsel and is incredibly kind. Would recommend her to anyone willing to better themselves!

I worked with Lucy Minassian, and her approach is very straightforward and real. She doesn't sugarcoat things, but instead helps you clearly see patterns, behaviors, and habits that need to change. Sessions were structured, practical, and centered on accountability and growth. Since working with Lucy, I've noticed major improvements in my sleep, stress levels, anxiety, communication, and overall performance. As a medical student, I needed an approach that focused on results and functioning under pressure, and this made a noticeable difference in both my academics and personal life, including family relationships. If you value clarity, honesty, and tangible improvement, Chapters is an excellent choice.

As I'm getting ready to discharge, I wanted to share my experience at Miracles in Action…read more From the beginning, the environment felt supportive, professional, and well organized. The facility is clean, calm, and welcoming, which made it easier to stay focused and present during treatment. Communication was clear and consistent, and I always felt informed about my schedule, care plan, and next steps. The therapists, doctor, and counselors are highly qualified, certified, and deeply experienced in recovery. What stood out most was how individualized the care felt. The staff genuinely takes time to understand each person's situation and adjusts treatment accordingly rather than using a one size fits all approach. Beyond traditional therapy, the program offers additional support that made a real difference for me. Weekly sound baths and guided meditation helped me slow down, reset, and gain mental clarity. Those sessions became an important part of my routine and overall progress. They are also in network with insurance, and the team was transparent and helpful with coverage, which removed a lot of stress during an already important time. Connecting with other patients, it was clear how impactful this program has been in their day to day lives as well. As I prepare to discharge, I feel grounded, supported, and more confident moving forward. I would strongly recommend this program to anyone looking for high quality IOP or PHP care in the San Fernando Valley. Thank you for being there when I needed guidance and support the most.
