We stopped in for breakfast, my wife had eggs benny which she said was not bad no where near the top of her scale, I had a regular 2 egg breakfast with bologna, home fries and toast with a side order of toutons, which the waitress forgot about, no big deal it happens. it finally came out when I was finished my meal which consisted of 1 slice of toast and a thin slice of packaged bologna 2 eggs and processed home fries a meal which you might expect at a hospital cafeteria not a sit down restaurant. And all this for $72.57 with tip. If your looking for a pricey cafeteria meal this is your spot, if your looking for a good down home meal I recommend finding another place.

The food was AMAZING! We got burgers with their house made BBQ sauce and I've been craving it for days now. The service was great. Fast and friendly. We loved the patio and the fresh flower baskets. Will visit again

Sitting in this restaurant right now and I just had to write a review. We have a party of 8 and our waiter Terry is unreal. He is the ChatGPT of drinks. We have been telling him all night make me a sweet drink with vodka and it's the best thing we've ever had. We ask him for a spicy drink with rum it's the BEST thing we've ever had. He makes these drinks on the spot randomly with the craziest combinations of things and the 7 drinks we ordered are the best drinks we've ever had and I guarantee youyou will never have anything better. Just give him an alcohol and a prompt and I guarantee, it will be the best drink you've ever had. He is an Artist. Go when Terry is working.

LOVED THIS PLACE! I am not a huge fan of super crowded places and that is a main reason that I came in this bar, also someone indicated that they had the best poutine in town ! here is street parking as they are located at the Water street the main hub for the downtown St. Johns. it is definitely best to walk here if possible. this is a 24 HOURS spot, it is perfect for that late night drink and poutine. we came by and the bartenders were super! they let us pick even the music to play in the bar! they are super friendly, definitely the best feature of the bar is the staff. STEAK POUTINE- OMG this was definitely the best poutine I had in the entire town, we went to a couple of other spots for the poutine but this place cooked the steak perfectly, the sauce was just perfect and onions so caramelized. just amazed with the poutine, a lot of sauce and cheese, definitely enough to share at least 4 people can share one of their poutines. if you are looking for some amazing poutine, LOOK NO FURTHER, come over here and try their poutine.

Came here with a group. Service was ridiculously slow. 2 hours until our overcooked meals came out. Really disappointing.

Sometimes the food here is hit or miss. I stopped coming here due to it usually being a "miss"....... and I found a hair within my food.

So we came in, took a seat at the bar, ordered a couple pints of Guinness (the best pour in St. John's we were told), and listened to several musicians around a big table churn out a number of traditional tunes. Another Irish word for this is seisiún or session. It was very relaxed and informal, with individual musicians starting a tune and others quickly joining in. Gayle and I really felt part of a local crowd of very nice and hospitable Newfoundlanders. A significant percentage of Newfoundlanders come from Irish descent. That started in the 17th Century when ships from the English West Country stopped into along Ireland's south coast to collect food and servants for the fisheries around the coast of Newfoundland. As such, the traditional music of Newfoundland and Labrador is rooted in Irish, Scottish, and English music. The Bar itself has a sort of local divey vibe, with dark woods, a cool bar, no pretense, and even a 24-hour camera screen on Quidi Vidi. It was a place where we really enjoyed staying awhile, which we did until this Celtic jam session was over.

Somehow this turned out to be pretty incredible. While practically all bars in St. John's are…read moresimilarly Irish and quite casual, Erin's is a standout. For all that is said (and really overstated) about Newfoundlanders being the nicest people in Canada, I actually had that friendly experience here more than at other bars in the city. (As an outsider, you can be easy to spot.) The bartender was friendly and on the ball. The live music was impressive. The artist who played (July 2?) was furiously devoted to continuously cranking out great music. The local patrons were generally lively and willing to engage in conversation with outsiders.

They didn't have any pale ale so our server suggested an 'Rielly's lagar but it tasted more like a pilsner. I'm really not that hard to please but that's how it was. Once the drinks arrived the food also came shortly thereafter. The server apologized for the delay in bringing the drinks. That helped but this is a pub so if they can't get the drinks out there is a problem. My fish and chips were good. My guests were pleased with their dishes. This is a very popular establishment so for that reason alone I would recommend it. Our meals were good and it was really just the strange delay in getting our drinks that put us off. There is live music with a local flair. Interestingly many of the patrons were older folks. I don't know what to read into that. Perhaps it's the folksy music. Three stars because of the mistakes made in bringing our drinks, being out of common items, etc.

I had my eye on the PB&J burger that I had seen on Yelp, as peanut butter is my favorite thing ever! This burger did not disappoint. While the combo sounds strange, the flavors were well-balanced with the brie cheese, caramelized onions and bacon. The meat was cooked to a perfect medium and the hamburger bun was soft. I chose the kettle chips for my side, and they tasted house made. Very delicious! The only thing I didn't like about this burger was the price tag = $22. Hubby had the seafood chowder for $17 and it was enough for a full meal. He said the chowder was very flavorful and full of seafood. He was in heaven! We both ordered a Quidi Vidi 1892 amber ale on draft. They only had 7 beers on tap and I wished that they had a medium or dark beer, but this area doesn't seem to be big on that. They do have Guinness in a can, if that's your thing. Service was friendly and the food came out relatively fast. The booths were comfy and the pub reminded me of a cozy neighborhood bar. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area!

I worked in the service industry for many years and I Know how important tips are and I , as a rule, tip well. I asked if I could possibly order 2 side dishes and one to share. I was told 'Yes you can but these portions are small' but that's what I wanted .When it came it was exactly what I wanted, small portions. 2 sides for $4.00 each + sharable = Lunch for 20.00 +tax and tip. HAHAHA the joke was on me - My tiny little side orders have now ballooned in price - one was now $8.00 the other $5.50. When I asked the waitress why, she told me the order was upgraded to the higher price - but for no reason- sizes weren't upgraded. Her tip was in my Cup ( 1 cup measure) of $8.00 French Onion Soup and the extra buck fifty on my 'ok' cup of poutine, that I couldn't get cheese curds on.( Not as much as the $6.00 she was gonna get but hey - I had to pay taxes on that !!) As much as I like the ambience at Maccool's, in these times of food being too expensive to buy , this place is living up to that- Fionn's just lost my vote for Great restaurants! Here's how I think the backroom convo went " She thinks she's orderin that little bit?? I'll show her!" Consider me shown and little Miss out a tip - Thanks
