The end we came in from started with food and there are beignets, oysters, boils, crawfish, and a whole bunch of other options. There is something for everyone to eat here. The other section had a lot of stalls selling trinkets, clothes, and artwork. I bought a couple of cute dresses and my friends and I all bought some artwork to bring home. From the moment you walk into this space, what you are confronted with is tons of all kinds of great and unique everything. Much of it is not only sold by local artisans, but made by them, as well. French market is predominantly an open air location. What you will find here are small shops that each offer a very unique collection of items that are very specific to their own shop. The items that are sold here span the gambit from jewelry, to artworks, to ethnic pieces that represent the culture from where the shop owner comes from. There is really a lot of everything at the French Market. Meaning, this is a great place to get that really unique gift that you wanna get for that special someone or to find that unique piece of whatever that you will personally use. As there are numerous shops here, each business provides a unique buying experience. Each one represents what they offer, and do it from their own perspective. From this, you'll find some shop merchants that are super friendly, very cordial, and more than willing to make deals with you. Others, not so much. But, that's what makes this location truly interesting. All the personalities that make up this shopping establishment. More than simply a place to shop for gifts, artworks, souvenirs, and the like, French Market also offers some great food stalls. So, if you need a snack, drink, or even a full meal, you can find it here. As this is open air, in the summer, it can get kinda hot inside this establishment. This is not bad or good, this is just something to keep in mind. This is the same during the winter months. You can't get kind of cold in there. But, at least from my perspective, that's a little bit easier to deal with. You just have to wear a jacket. Overall, this is one of the main stays of NOLA. It's truly a must see location. And, for people who know the city well, this is a place to go to when you want to find that truly unique item. Truly, you never know what you'll find.

If you asked me to write a review of second and Charles a week ago, I would've gave it a five star…read morebut today I walked in and was sadly disappointed to see that the entire Disney funko pop section had been moved to the floor and was stacked up into the back of a bookcase. As a Funko pop collector, this was very disappointing to see that they changed the Disney display. I couldn't even look at any of the Funko pops that I wanted to look at because they were stacked up on the ground hidden in a bookshelf. Super disappointed with second Charles decision to do this.

Alas, all good things come to an end, so does this location. Years ago, I raved about this place…read morebeing a nerd-vana? Now, it's nothing like that. All the little things that made me want to drive out to this place are dead and gone. Shelving for old X-Box, PS, Nintendo, Sega, Atari, and Intellivision games? Gone. Replaced by row upon row of soulless Funko Pops. Boardgame section? Hardly any used and all new... and no real reason to buy there as opposed to Amazon or other online BG retailer. RPG section? No more 1e D&D modules or older materials, or anything else for that matter. Just the same old 5e crap, with Critical Role mixed in, with video game guides slowly spreading into the section like a cancer. The only good thing was not in the store, but in the parking lot, where they had a car show going on. The place turned from nerd-vana into just another BAM! bookstore (the owners of 2nd & Charles). Won't be back.
