The Cave is one of my most favorite retailers. Every time I go there, the employees are friendly, knowledgeable, and won't up-sell me... or even sell me something I don't probably/actually need. My PAX battery pack was acting up, I think it was a bust and went in to get a new one. When I described the problem to the guy, he replied with a list of things to try before buying a new one... and lo-and-behold it works now that I tried his very first suggestion (cleaning the prong with isopropyl alcohol). I was all ready to buy a new one there, but he steered me instead to a free solution. Some time before this, my Ooze Duplex 2 vaping device was acting up, so I went back to them. Their return policy said no, which was fine. But their guy took the time to explain to me that the manufacturer's policy is really good and how to go about getting my device serviced by them. He noted that I would need a physical receipt to get warrantee work. I didn't have it. So he took the time to look up several days of Visa receipts from several month prior to find mine. He printed it out for me to send in. (And the vendor, Ooze, was awesome and quickly replaced the malfunctioning part.) I come in with what I know are newbee/stupid questions. Not once have they treat me with contempt or derision; they just simply answered my questions with a smile. If you have anxiety, I think you'll like these guys; they are very chill and non-judgmental. Parking sucks but that's a bad place to have to exit anyway. I was getting service on my car and needed to kill some time. I found myself over at the cave which has an amazing assortment of different products and smoking instruments. They even had some retro video game consoles that worked and had plug-ins for vaping I think? Either way some really great glassware and different options for different budgets. I ended up getting just a bubbler attachment for the 3' binger I have at home. I got a 40% discount for first time purchase and they gave me a cool mousepad as well. Came to go to the smoke shop as soon as me and my friend got out of our cars the owner stalked up and started interrogating where we were going. I had to explain we were talking and might go in the shop, he got hostile and continued to argue taking out his phone taking pics of our cars calling us "bad people". Mind you this is my first impression of The Cave-San Mateo. Its been years that I have been a customer of puff puff pass -SF. For a flagship location Im disappointed in the customer service I received. I called the day prior to get an idea of what i was looking for- on the phone the person I spoke to Chris was almost scared to tell me what was available, i asked for photos possibly of the choices . I come from over 45 minutes away for the glass selection and a simple picture or even a more accurate description of what was available would have saved me time and money. Upon asking further questions chris was happy to tell me that the bowls "start at 30" but for what i was looking for the price "goes up alot" . I asked what alot meant and he said "like alot , over 100" . Mind you thats exactly how much im looking to spend regardless. All in all the opportunity for a sale was lost and so was the client. this place sucks - they do not stand behind their products - i purchased a vape battery from them, and it didn't work.... it cost me $10 and they would not exchange or allow me to return it... the problem - it would not charge - i followed their directions and it still would not work - when I came back, 3 things happened - first, they told me it was my fault... second, they were extremely rude... third, they said, well, if that doesn't work - why not buy a new one!!! Furious, I stormed out of the place - as I did, heard them say 2 things... first, was laughter... and second, was... well, we don't need a customer like that..... funny - but the store was empty - and for anyone who is interested - they are very overpriced.... clearly don't care about their customers... and every time I have been in the store (this was my 4th)... they had new people working there - this time, the kid referred me to their attorney - and said he is used to having our clients call - he will just laugh at you like he does the rest.... They said no refunds, exchange only. I said ok just give me a new one. I got the new one. I was super happy with it until I had to go charge it. Battery won't charge. Brand new and can't even charge it. Stuck with a $50 battery that is complete trash and was backed by the guy working there and it won't even charge once, or last more than a weekend. I've been to a million head shops and they're mostly the same--except this one. They customer service there is absolutely unbelievable. And it's not just one or two employees; it's all of them. You'd think you were in an Apple Store or something. Mad props to Blake, the owner, for ensuring such a high level of professionalism and customer-centric focus. He's also an expert (no really, an actual expert) on electronic devices. and all of his employees, whom I've done business with each. And of course, they stock every item you can think of. Walking in, a couple of dudes greeted us immediately. Boyfriend knew exactly what he was looking for. The guys here were very friendly and very helpful. They taught the boyfriend how to use the equipment, how to clean it, and threw in some cleaners and a grinder. I'd definitely suggest coming here for your smoking/vaping needs. read more

Brought a new juice for my vape and you just use the "new" tips and if you already know how to use a vape and you would accommodate yourself to try the juices. IF YOU ARE NEW, then you will have to ask for assistance. Many times I've come in here with a bunch of different questions and the employees are always helpful in answering them. My friend bought a hookah here earlier and it was faulty. So they replaced the shaft, no strings attached. That's pretty cool. It still was a POS so my friend complained again and this time the owner said he'd replace it with a $200 dollar egyptian hookah. Even better. The service at this place is impeccable. And they're fast and knowledgable of their products. Plus the selection here on ANYTHING is huge. Maybe the biggest in norcal. Id give this place 5 stars however if we didn't hassle with our hookah. I two made the mistake of purchasing one of their vaporizer batteries. It stopped charging a month after I purchased it. I went into the shop expecting them to be understanding and exchange it out. oh no, I was told this was my fault and I had to purchase a new one. Having no other choice in that moment I did purchase another one. I kid you not it wasn't more than 10 days later that the NEW battery stopped working. I went back with my receipt and battery yet they STILL proceeded to say this was my fault and would need to purchase another one. Review a little late but I came in with my girlfriend about a month ago after buying a Puffco Peak device from them. (The product is AMAZING and I can literally dab anywhere). Anyways, the only downside was that I was not properly cleaning it so I took it to the shop & the manager (I believe) was AMAZING, he had properly shown me how to clean the rig, as well as recommended me amazing products that basically instantly cleans the F out of it. I've been coming here for years and bought tons of glass as they have a HUGE variety of everything you would need, also they have tons of cool stoner related parody art available for sale that you MUST check out. The first time I walked into this place, I half expected a man to come out and start singing to me, "Come with me, and you'll be... In a world of pure imagination..." while floating around with a purple suit. I like how every time I go there, the employees will take their time to help out. They are knowledgeable and they don't mind taking time to answer any question you have, big or small. On top of that, they're really friendly and professional. No thugs, no creeps, and no a*holes. If you want to invest in a fancy piece, or you're buying a bunch of stuff, they usually can give you a great deal as well, so definitely come here if you're in the market for something pricey. Because they have such an impressive inventory, I also think it makes their prices simply unbeatable by smaller stores that don't buy as much.
