As a Californian, I am surprised to find this good Louisiana Texan restaurant. This place is worth trying, while its value is reasonable. The inside is a common family operating restaurant, with updated outdoor signs worth reading. While comfortable, I was most impressed for the fast cooking and table delivery! Went to The Catch for my mom's birthday dinner. The food, I got the catch-fish basket with fried okra, was great! The place needed to be swept and all the tables were sticky. This is more like fast casual than a sit down restaurant. I think it could be made into a cute sit down spot. If you're into ambiance, this is not the place for you. Good evening, I visited the restaurant today, and was excited to finally get crawfish in Texas. This was not the case here... i ordered 2lbs to start. Then was asked what kind of seasoning / butter... very confused by the question. I requested "hot and Cajun Crazy". I was not used to picking flavors of seasoning. I also asked if the crawfish was alive, and the employees confirmed that it was. Upon receiving my order. They were covered in said seasoning or "toss" as it was clarified. The tails were very hard to peel ( indicating they were undercooked), and had very little to no flavor. After ordering hot spice I was a bit confused. But ate them anyways as for I haven't had crawfish this season after moving to Texas. I figured I would give one more pound a shot. This time, I requested them to be cooked longer. And asked if they were being boiled, and how it was happening since they tasted like water, no Cajun seasoning, not any sort of spice... just boiled water... so this order, I requested them to be hot. But didn't care to have them "tossed" since adding flavor to a crawfish shell, adds nothing to the tail meat. Although the employee ensured it does... I went with "too hot to handle" or so I thought. The next order came out, the corn had zero flavor, along with the potatoes... and who would have thought... the crawfish also had no flavor and were just as hard to peel / chewy as the first batch. I am writing today in hope I could get clarification on a few things regarding your cooking process. And hopefully please more crawfish loving people like myself. Okay this place was quiet the waitress was nice. The prices are a bit steep for what you receive, you will leave paying $20.00 for the most part, especially if you get a drink. They do have military discount if you have your ID. The lobby had a few dirty tables, so we moved a bit. My fish was fried light, not crispy and could use some seasoning. My crawdad's had a really fishy taste, but thank God I didn't get sick afterwards. The fries were okay, but the banana puddin was like water flowing. No thickness, 1 cookie and I did see a tiny piece of banana. Do not get this banana pudding if you like traditional southern banana pudding. All in all it was my first time popping in. I heard nothing, but negative comments which is why I never came in. A friend invited me, so I came. It wasn't bad except that banana pudding. Try it for yourself. read more

The catch is NOT the catch!! The restaurant is clean, service needs help too BUT we're coming here for good catfish and it's not real catfish that they are serving.... The texture of the fish is like a gum with fried cornmeal on the outside... You just keep chewing and chewing - it's not real catfish - it taste like a scientific lab-fish not catfish! It's real shiny and mushy! Catfish 0 out of 10 Fries was a 5 out of 10 Corn on the cob was a 0 out of 10... I wasted $18 never again! Ordered the fried shrimp po boy which came with two hush puppies and fries which I changed out for fried okra. The hush puppies and okra seemed a little over fried but tasted fine, and the po boy was very good. Service was fairly quick, and the staff were nice and made sure to check in and see if we needed anything. read more

I recently made a trip to Wichita falls for the HHH. While there we stopped to have dinner at the Catch. First now I'd like to say that the food was excellent, I had the catfish and it was cooked perfectly most times when I ordered catfish it's either overcooked which means that it's flaky and the breading is blackened more than what should be, or undercooked where the fish is kind of gummy and very impossible to eat I also had the gumbo and the red beans and rice which is the best I've ever tasted including that in New Orleans. The service was very good and it was quick he ordered you sat down and within a few minutes of that the food is cooked and brought right to your table and the service was very congenial and delightful and was ready to help you in any other items that you might want or need. As far as the ambience goes the restaurant is a simple restaurant there's no flashing lights or anything else like that but the decor it's the type of food that is being served. All in all the catch is a catch you have to visit I know I will I often travel up to Wichita falls at least once a year for the HHH THE 3H STANDS FOR THE HOTTER THAN HELL HUNDRED.. it is a 100 mile bicycle ride that my son and I do every year so every year I know I'm going to be eating eating supper at least once at the catch I hope you will too. read more

We tried The Catch the same week it opened so they still have some things to work out. Food was absolutely delicious. Everything we had was good, great flavor, seasonings were spot on, cooked perfect. The restaurant itself was pretty dirty, they were struggling to keep up with the cleaning of tables, straightening up the self service station, bathrooms, etc. The self service station was gross, not stocked, no ice, no tea. The lady taking orders was not friendly but everyone else we encountered was. I know they were busy and still learning so based off food alone we will be back. read more

I grew up in north west Florida and I think the fried gator is pretty good. It's sit down quality food but set up with take out or dine in. It's honestly better than most seafood places back home and has a pretty wide variety of entrees. Manager is great too, gave me a free beer while I waited on my food. read more

A majority of the reviews here are very disappointing. And that's sad. You can't judge a restaurant based on a to-go order. You can't judge a restaurant based on how staffed they are during a pandemic. I listened to the reviews and didn't go here based on what I heard. I was wrong. And so is everyone else. I'm honestly shocked we have this type of eatery here in Wichita Falls. I've been across the south and sought out legitimate Cajun food and I have to tell you this is it. I had the fried catfish, red beans and rice, and banana pudding. That's how you test any southern Cajun place worth it's salt. The catfish was perfectly cooked. Very moist and flaky, perfectly seasoned crunchy cornmeal breading. And stood up on its own without any tartar sauce. I actually felt guilty for dipping it. It just needs a little lemon juice and you're good to go. The first thing I noticed when the woman brought our food to was the bowl of red beans and rice which I substituted out straight up for the fries that were supposed to come in my meal. That stuff was legitimate. You could tell someone made that chocolate roux. Someone sautéed that holy trinity. Someone slow simmered it with sausage and ham and whatever else they had. It was real. And it was an absolute steal to be able to substitute French fries for that. That should be an upgrade to the meal. Banana pudding is a religion down in the south and everywhere you go. Everyone claims to have the best and everyone has their own take on it. This place is no exception. Even the sweet tea was real and the hush puppies weren't frozen from a bag. I don't know about their staffing issues. All I do know is when I went, they had everything staffed. It was at the very tail end of the lunch hour and we had their full attention as our meal was made for us and it took a little bit of time to come out because everything was freshly made and prepared. Very pleased with this addition to WF! Happy for a Cajun option now. Looked very busy but once we got inside there was plenty of seating. Good amount of parking here. Interesting there is a drive thru. The kitchen is totally packed so they must be cooking up tons back there. We maxed out the booth we sat at with our family of 5...there may be some bigger tables back in the partitioned area. Very cute inside! I think they did a good job with the remodel. Everyone here was super friendly and helpful. This is counter service only but there are people walking around checking on tables and taking trash. The food comes pretty quick. And it is SO good. Very authentic gumbo. The beans and rice are great, loads of flavor in those guys. The key lime pie is extraordinarily sour and tangy, making it the absolute best key lime pie on Earth. Next time I am not sharing that. The fried shrimp is maybe the best I've ever had. Not overcooked or chewy, not too much breading. We had lots of different sauces but I think the best was the ranch, tastes homemade. The po boy was great, the flaky bun was a good complement to the soft shrimp. The fries are super crunchy and salty and one thing some people (like me) will most appreciate is the malt vinegar available on every table! The beignets were only ok. If we had tried them when they came to the table it may have been better, we waited to the end of the meal and they were cold and not fluffy. Was basically a dense donut. I took off a star because I thought it was a touch pricey for the portion size. Maybe its for premium sourced seafood? There is gator on the menu. And we only had one tiny hush puppy in our combo, so only the 6 year old ate it. Everything was pretty salty, not surprisingly. Also this is heavy, rich food. Went through the drive through where I waited for 15 minutes in line to get my order. There was no one else in line and they never even acknowledged that I was there waiting. There appeared to be only two people working. By the time they came out to talk to me they were rude and unapologetic about the wait or their poor service. No food safety protocols. Food was just ok. The Catch was a welcome site and became a family favorite when they first opened here in Wichita Falls, but here lately, they seem to be falling into the same rut as other new restaurants with very poor customer service and lack pride in the food quality and preparation. To make a long story short, I had ordered 4 meals to go through the drive through. After a 20 plus minute wait at the drive through window with no one in front of me, Jacob the manager (the title he referred to himself as at least a dozen times) apologized and gave me a cookie for the long wait. I then proceeded home only to find out that the Po Boy sandwich I had ordered for myself was just two pieces of bread with no fish inside!! Was this some kind that of a joke? I drove back and confronted Jacob about it and after a long wait, he gave me another sandwich and tried to give me a $5 coupon for all the trouble. I told him that was a slap in the face after all they put me though and I refused the coupon. I'm sorry to say that we will more than likely never return. read more

Being a lover of fish and sea food I had been looking forward to eating here ever since I heard about it's opening. It did not disappoint. The fried shrimp was perfect, the cole slaw tasty and the hush puppies superb. My husband loved his extra etouffee very much. The only complaint we had was that the fries were nothing special (I'll probably order another side next time) and the large okra was way more than we could eat. We spent more money than we intended but we didn't realize how big the portions would be so we ordered sides we didn't need. We look forward to eating there again to be sure. read more

I'm VERY picky and I can't handle spicy food but I thought I'd try it anyway. Omgoodness it is SO good! We split the medium catfish basket, fed us both easily, and every single thing was fabulous!! Tried the Catch for the first time tonight and I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised! It's obvious they are still working some of the bugs out, but all in all the food (crawfish, fries and cole slaw)was good. The star of the night though was their Gumbo. It had a really rich, dark roux and plenty of sausage, shrimp and goodies. My MIL made the very best Gumbo around and hers is what I compare all others to. Short line at the counter to order. Line moved a little slow because many customers had lots of questions about the menu. The person taking orders was pleasant and readily answered all questions. Everyone working there looked busy and fully engaged in making things run smooth. I had the crawfish po boy. It was excellent! Loads of fried mud bugs. The bread on my sandwich had the texture and crumb of real New Orleans French bread. It came fully dressed but with remoulade instead of the usual mayo, but remoulade is my preference so that's a plus! Also ordered the fried jalapeños. They were medium hot, nothing to be afraid of. They were out of ranch dressing to dip the slices in, so they served them with jalapeño ranch instead. That was a nice substitution. If I were to order them again I would ask for the jalapeño ranch. Went in Tuesday afternoon there were 4 of us. Two of us got the fish basket. The fish was ok at best. One got shrimp ,it was ok. Daughter got chicken strips they were so hard she couldn't eat them. Wait was very long service sucked and the portions were way over priced. read more
