Great bands ant the weekend. Amazing beers in this eccentric pub. A wonderful community quiz night…read moreon a Thursday. Well worth a visit.

I could pretty much write the same that 'willyum1950' has written as I totally agree with…read moreeverything he has said (apart from I don't live in Addlestone but do live about 2 miles from this pub). This pub is a FANTASTIC pub everything a pub should be. The Barley Mow has many, many regulars and that shows what a fantastic pub this is. The regulars are all very friendly and 'newcomers' are made to feel very welcome. It's dog friendly too and there's lots of regular dogs that enjoy the attention that they always get too. The ale served here is served how it should be. The barrels are looked after and kept at the right temperature in the cellar the pipes are kept clean and all of this makes for a delicious ale. One would think this sounds easy but so many pubs get this wrong the Barley Mow isn't one of them. They frequently rotate the ale and the guest ales are a plenty. Summer lightning and Twickenham ales are regulars I believe. They also sell 'proper' cider but as this isn't my thing, I can't comment on how good it is. John, the landlord, is a friendly, happy guy and clearly enjoys what he does and he does it exceptionally well. This pub continues to win Camra awards year after year and quite rightly so. The live music (Friday/Saturday) is great and everyone joins in. Haven't yet been on a Wednesday but I'm sure it's just as great. Weekend daytimes are great too. It's a perfect place for a pint and reading the newspapers. I have never been to this pub and not enjoyed myself. No beer 'garden' as such but there is an outdoor space with tables/benches that probably seat 50 or so people easily. There's also a car park out the back and plenty of parking out the front. It's a very eclectic place both inside and out (there's a dinosaur outside and loads of lovely odds and ends inside). I'm pretty sure that they offer free wi-fi now too but don't quote me on that. Have been going here for about 5 years now and have no intention of stopping. Will continue to support this fantastic 'local' for as long as I can. Thanks to John and the rest of the staff for running such a great pub. The website has been updated so more info on there http://www.themow.co.uk/ SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL PUB!

This beautiful pub has a charming indoor bar area, and gorgeous outdoor seating along the river. The service was prompt and food quality fantastic. We had a few pints as well, it was a record-breaking day of heat in the area, so the pints went down a treat. I wish I could go back and try more things on the menu. They have daily specials too. Someone else said the menu is limited, but I didn't feel that - perhaps they've expanded their offerings since 2011. If you're in the area and want somewhere charming, quiet and serene to spend an afternoon, you could do much worse than The Pelican.

We decided to have a starter and asked if we could get the mixed starter for 3 of us(as it's usually for 2), and the waiter was more than happy to do this. The king prawns, prawn toast and springs rolls were all delicious, but the chicken satay was immense! Our mains were also excellent, my friends both had Pahd Thai which was really nice and not too spicy. I had the Thai green curry with steamed rice, which was absolutely beautiful. Cost of the meal was not expensive at all for 3people with drinks, so we have all agreed we will definitely be coming back to sample more of the menu.

Well Jimmy how true, I did wish lunch could last forever. The Sun Inn is not only a very comfortable place, it also has great food a great menu and a very responsive staff. I know my comfort as I dine on the ocean, beer and boiled shrimp in hand on almost a daily basis. But, no ocean here, however, the Sun Inn reeked of ambiance and charm. The staff professional and attentive, they made you feel at home. I had the asparagus with cauliflower crumbles, they were good; However, the asparagus were small and stringy. I also had the mussels in saffron sauce, very fresh and very good, not one mussel had turned. My guests had the Dover sole, said it was excellent and the minced beef with cous cous, also excellent. My only let down was the cheese course, kind of anti-climactic and blasé! But, if I lived here I'd live in the Sun Inn a very good place.

A vast menu meant I had loads of choice and it catered to all around the table. The cheddar cheese Soufle I had for my starter was light and airy - it went down a storm. The main course - pie of the week - was also a delight. The gammon and leek within the pie was excellent and topped with mash and some light creamy sauce it was pretty much faultless. Served with a more than generous helping of carrots on the side that were big enough to keep me seeing in the dark for years. Overall it was an excellent meal with excellent service. A must try if you're in the area.
