I have stayed at two of them: the Plaza Courtyard Stay and Rose Court Cottage. Plaza Courtyard was an absolutely enormous space, with a full kitchen, bedroom, living room, dining table, and large handicapped-accessible bathroom. When I checked in, we had to use a combination we had been given ahead of time in order to get into the courtyard and the room. There were numbers to call in case of emergency, but otherwise, I was on my own--which was fine with me. The location was excellent, right off the main plaza. There was free and very good wifi. The bed was very comfortable, and everything I needed was available. Rose Court Cottage was a different experience. It is a very small cottage attached to the owner's home. It does have a beautiful rose courtyard, but that courtyard adjoins the windows to the owner's home, and when the weather is nice she opens her windows, so there really isn't any privacy. In addition, there is a door in the bathroom that leads directly into the owner's home, and you can't lock it from the guest side. The cottage was very cute and well-appointed, with lots of books and travel guides, as well as free and good wifi. The cottage is across the street from the local market, which was very convenient, and a short walk from the downtown plaza. However, we were really weirded out by the close proximity to the owner. When she let us in and showed us around, she even said, "I'll just let myself out here" and walked out of our bathroom. All in all, both of these were good stays, with very comfortable beds and lots of the comforts of home, and a decent value. However, if I go back, I will choose the Plaza Courtyard for more privacy.

I stayed in two while visiting before permanently relocating to the area. Forest View was an amazing experience. Very private with a deck and beautiful views of the redwoods in the distance. I loved the gas stove and, although I didn't use them, all of the cooking amenities. Rose Cottage, however, was completely different. While it was very convenient, located directly across from the fabulous Wildberries Market, there was very little privacy, as the other reviewer noted. I felt quite strange showering, while I could hear other people cooking on the other side of the bathroom door. The space was very small and musty. I would highly recommend staying at Forest View and I'm curious about Gateway and Sweet Home Stay, which I imagine are closer in quality to Forest View.

This delightful "cottage" is really a suite adjacent to the main house. It's whimsically decorated and has some nice touches, including a private entry and courtyard, plush linens, an electric fireplace for ambiance, an interesting selection of books, a wide variety of coffee and teas in the little kitchenette, which also included a reusable grocery bag for gathering provisions at the nice store just steps from this place. While well appointed, the small place is a bit overwhelmed by a lot of furniture, including a couple big pieces, leading to the space feeling a little cramped. But all in all, a comfortable stay for sure. Even the beautifully tiled little shower was surprisingly excellent. One down side: when we arrived and departed the first time during our stay, a vehicle was parked in the driveway, which is the only access to the cottage door. It was very challenging to get past the car, either having to practically cling to the car to avoid getting snagged by the rose bushes on either side, or having to tromp through the yard and then try to find our way through said rose bushes. This access issue was really the only problem we encountered during our stay.

This place is truly a thing of beauty, an adorable little refuge, and Christy is super available, helpful, and thoughtful. It's a cute neighborhood with Victorian houses; our dog loved the flowers, plants, and a little park nearby; a wonderful organic co-op is diagonally across the street; and RCC is within walking distance, just blocks from the quaint, sweet downtown shopping district. Happily, we unsuspectingly happened upon stunning protected marshlands on a morning walk, and we were close driving distance to prime redwood hiking and even sand dunes. Such a magical place and location, a total gem!

The hot tub is lovely and sort of nestled back in the garden which makes it more private. Fantastic kitchen with everything you need. I wish we would have had some friends to stay up in the loft. I would think it would be a great spot for kiddos too as it is like a secret hideaway with its own deck. Anne is a sweet person to communicate with and super helpful. After having poor communication and lack of follow through with another vacation property owner in town, this was a nice, easy and pleasant experience. We will be back and will recommend to friends. Tip: if you are one to sleep in, bring an eye mask. The sleeping nook gets a lot of sun in the a.m. which is great for early risers like me and not so great for those like my partner that enjoy sleeping in on weekends.

I follow up by checking out rates, deals and of course the websites. (Yes, I'm this obsessive). I yelped and saw mediocre hotels/B&B's in Eureka. I had booked a B&B but then did step 2. Unfortunately the reviews weren't consistent so then I started browsing even deeper on tripadvisor. With that being said I stumbled on Bayfront one condos here: http://www.tripadvisor.com/VacationRentalReview-g32363-d1571795-Luxurious_Waterfront_Condominiums-Eureka_California.html Hmm... this look appealing. Back to step 1. Shoot no yelp review. Onto step 3: http://www.bayfrontone.com/ Hmm.. now I'm intrigued. I bit the bullet without a Yelp review (shocker!) booked through the site/email and showed up. I can't emphasize how great the place was. We did the 2 br (R1). It was clean, new appliances, cable TV, comfy beds, gas FIREPLACE (clutch in winter) and cute little deck. R1 is on the end so the views probably are better in the 1br which is directly facing the water. Regardless, the location was great. Right in Old Town next to a bunch of restaurants, shops and the Co-op. Great place to cook but also conveniently located to go out. It's always wonderful to have a place to just "hang out" while on vacation. Do note that it is a condo, so we could hear the other members of our party while they were int he kitchen and we were in our bedroom but wasn't too big of a deal. HIGHLY recommend staying here. Place was great, Kirsten was awesome to deal with, and the whole process went extremely smooth.
