I've lived here almost a year and am relocating to the East Bay to be closer to family + work and let me tell you all you need to hear in this review: I truly believe that there will be no apartment complex that will ever compare to my experience at The Carlyle. From the amenities to the incredible staff to the absolute peace of mind you get in the safe community, this place comes out on top of any apartment hunting list. The gym and the pool (with two hot tubs and BBQ grills) truly are a necessity. I feel like I'm truly living in a resort. I have a unit in the back with a garage and getting out of my car and straight into my apartment is a luxury I know I won't get at many other places. The 800+ sq. ft space really gives you the flexibility to design in just about any way you want. The trash garages are a short walk from the units, mailboxes are well placed, the package room is secure, and the extra parking for guests is a huge plus. 10000/10 recommend The Carlyle for your residence -- I'm sad to be leaving. read more

Just wanted to update my review. Now, I've been living in this community for over a year. The club house has not been open since I moved in. So again, they have not been transparent about the construction and I have no faith that this will be ready anytime soon. Community has your strong qualities (apartment layout, location) but it is overpriced compared to other communities in the neighborhood that will offer a clubhouse at least. I haven't moved away for the simple fact that I wish not to deal with moving yet. read more

The walls here are so thin that you can hear every step your neighbor takes up above you. They also send contractors at random times of the day, doesn't matter if it's mornings or evenings. We love the Carlyle! As a disabled veteran with a special needs child this feels more like a home than an apartment to us. The staff is so friendly and absolutely supportive of any of our needs in a timely manner. Special thanks to Nichol Hendricks who has been a tremendous help in my housing experience! Is Good Customer Service Dead? Not at The Carlyle! For the past couple of months, my family and I have been searching to move into a new home. However, the process has been a struggle since the majority of homes on the market are misleading. Often times, the homes you see online are not an accurate reflection of what they truly are in person. The continuous disappointment mixed with the urgency to find a home was weighing down on us. Another prime issue we were having was the lack of communication (oftentimes absent communication) from realtors and landlords of these homes. Thankfully, we came across The Carlyle and met the property manager, Nichol, and leasing consultant, Jenly, who right off the bat, warmly welcomed us. From the moment I spoke to Nichol, she was friendly and helpful which was refreshing to see. She took the time to inform us of the available homes and worked with us, despite the complicated circumstances of COVID-19. We left feeling secure, knowing that we were moving into a safe, clean, and friendly community with excellent customer service from the leasing office. Needless to say, California realtors and landlords lack the admirable customer service that The Carlyle employees radiate. Little boxes, on the hillside, little boxes made of ticky tacky. The first three months of my American adventure were spent in a corporate housing type deal here at The Carlyle. I sat on my sofa and watched the hilarious (before it polevaulted the shark) series Weeds and remarked to myself how Agrestic and The Carlyle seemed to be cut from the same cloth. The highlight of this time period was having quite a raucous barbecue around the swimming pool, knocking back champagne and generally misbehaving while families looked at us in a bemused fashion. I think my friend Piggy went swimming in her underwear. Oh my. But to their credit, not one person raised an eyebrow and we were allowed to continue our party unmolested. The housing was comfortable and clean but didn't have a great deal going for it. It will always serve as a memorable introduction to the USA but also made me promise myself that no matter how desperate I got, I would never ever live in one of these places ever again. read more

The community is gated, very safe. There are beautiful trees and lovely garden in the community. It feels very quite and cozy. Next to a trail along with a small river on the backside of the community, very accessible if you love walking and enjoy the nature. Our unit was fairly big and the price is very reasonable, and the best part of it: it comes with attached garage so that our Tesla can park inside and charge. The leasing management staff are very friendly, helpful and also very responsive. They also got amenities updated recently. Me and my wife enjoy our time living at Carlyle. read more

My husband and I have lived at the Carlyle for a couple of years now, and it's wonderful. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Once when we were going away for the weekend, we couldn't remember if we had shut our garage. I called Nicole in the office, and she cheerfully checked for us, and texted us that it was closed. David and Jenly are always friendly and helpful! The maintenance staff is awesome. They are prompt and competent! Mike, Jeramie and Chuy (Jesus), are always friendly, too. The grounds are well maintained, and we love the amenities, especially the on-site Dry Cleaning. We usually get our clothes back in one day! Overall, this is a great place to live. read more

These ladies were flexible and kind enough to work around our schedule in order to give us the opportunity to view the beautiful community, but also to stay after their shift ended a short time to ensure the application process went smoothly. The property management does not provide clear guidelines/ any proper information. We don't find enough parking spaces inside the community to park. However the property manager makes false claims to find ample spots. Also our cars get towed without any notice there by in-curing huge fines to residents. Very unfriendly/ bad management read more

Great place to live. I have been living in Carlyle for 3 years. This is very cozy and homelike place. The complex has that relaxed and calm atmosphere where everything is taken care of. Nice pool with salted water, 2 hot tubs, great barbecue area. The spa zone in general is very relaxing and scenic. Central zone of the complex is done like a little European village: cozy trails here and there, trees, beautiful arcs and benches. Little a paradise, perfect place for families. Great nearby surroundings: a lot of free tennis courts, long trail for those who likes hiking or jogging. Good quality Safeway is just in 20 minutes by walk. The quality of life here is very high and this high quality wouldn't be possible without people who works there. These people are a cherry on the top of the cake :) My big gratitude to the managers team which runs the apartments. They are always helpful, polite and respectful. Whatever you need - they are fast with response and try to do maximum as they can to solve your problem. The complex is maintained clean and the guys checks that the established rules are followed. It is great pleasure to deal with them. My especial gratitude to maintenance guys: Jesus Lopez and Fausto Ramos. Several times I reported a problem with my apartments: broken disposal, change air filters, leak in washing machine, .... Every my request was processed very fast and with high professional approach. I was pleased when guys entered in my apartments and used shoe covers. Actually everyone in the maintenance team deserves high score. I am enjoying my life here and I hope the team of people who works here continue keeping that high standards. read more

If I could rate this complex zero stars, I would. There are several serious difficulties I am currently experiencing with the staff at the Carlyle Court property in Santa Clara, CA. As a resident of almost four years, I am sad to say that I will no longer be recommending this property to anyone. I've been completely disrespected and mistreated on several occasions. If it isn't bad enough that I've been talked down to, and made to feel inferior, I have also been shoved aside by the manager of the property so as to not have to deal with my concerns. This person is a despicable representation of the company, and I am beyond offended, disgusted, and downright outraged at the lack of professionalism that continues to take place at this residency. read more

I lived at the carlyle for 2 years and absolutely loved my time there. I moved to another city or else I would have stayed longer. I had a 2 bed 2 bath apartment. Some pros are: -spacious apartments -washer and dryer in units -nice sized balconies -free parking (although I wish you could pay for an additional assigned spot, during covid not many people moved their cars so if you left for a few hours and didn't have the garage spot and came back you would often come back to not many open spaces and have to park farther away) -AC -nice sized balconies -managers are nice and communicate promptly through email -maintenance guys are competent and awesome and are super nice and always helpful and always arrive on time with appointments -nice, large walk in closets in both rooms (I miss them) -master bath is also large and plenty of storage space -car wash station -trail behind apartments -walkable to a park -noise is pretty good within walls, I didn't really hear my next door neighbors in the master bedroom and living room, the only place I could hear my neighbors was in the bathroom and smaller room but that wasn't really a problem for me it was still fine Cons: -I lived near the gate so it was nice to be able to use my gate opener from the balcony but sometimes the gate would wake me up because it has a high pitch and squeaks--this comment is just to consider which apartment to choose based on what is more preferred by you -I personally had some issues with my hot water heater, even after they fixed it if both showers were in use the water would get cold within 10 mins so I always had to time my showers but it may have just been isolated to my apartment so test it out ahead of time to make sure it works by the time you move in -the smaller bedroom has an extremely thin window, it was always super cold in the room when it was cold outside and you could hear everything outside so a little more window insulation for one of the bedrooms would be ideal read more

The Carlyle is plagued with incompetent front desk staff. Never ever have I met anyone who can talk so much and convey so little. On the day of the move, when we got the keys and our truck was right outside, we noticed cowwebs, dirty carpet (with a black patch) and noisy tiles in the kitchen. The front desk was oh... nah.. is it.. and first came denial and then came apology and finally offer to address their incompetence. We are still living with these challenges because we don't want to engage with them anymore. They handover the gate keys which stopped working on day 2. Property manager was courteous and worked through extended hours to provide replacement. I have just been here for 3 months but I can see why this beautiful space gets so annoying. It's just do with this front staff who lack respect for the job they do. They don't hear you. They don't understand you. They love talking. They are incompetent. They don't send you invoice. They don't send you statements. They put random charges and surprise you. They made mistake in my lease and asked me to make banker check of X amount and the day of move in they wanted one day extra payment because they didn't do their maths. Thankfully they accepted the payment of difference by the personal cheque. Please stay away if you don't want to feel miserable meeting this front desk on regular basis. You will regret every interaction with them. I hope the management reads this feedback and takes some corrective actions. read more

The Carlyle is a beautiful, pleasant apartment community with serious management issues. I have worked a number of service jobs in my lifetime. Service jobs are hard; people everywhere are demanding and unreasonable, and around here people are entitled to boot. I understand that sh*t happens, and occasionally problems arise that have no good solution. I am the person who understands when things go awry. But sometimes, no one is handling the situation and things are going wrong because of poor management. (Read: The Carlyle.) The Carlyle had an inordinate number of glitches with their online rent payment system, which tenants were required to use. It was a monthly source of frustration. They managed to run checks twice (the same check), they lost packages of ours (delivered to the actual office), frequently couldn't find packages (we had to ask the office staff to look again, no seriously - look again), they double-booked their guest accommodations so we had to find a place for our guests after arranging with The Carlyle months in advance... basically there was a level of incompetence in the office that was a constant source of annoyance. While I worked hard to be kind and friendly - always hoping they would return the same - they often managed to be condescending and slightly unpleasant in person. The grounds are really lovely there. It was nice to have outdoor space. We lived on the third floor and got great light. The building maintenance guys are super professional, quick, and tidy. The apartments are good and the outdoor environment is great. It's building management here that is the problem. There are issues of basic maintenance in their community areas that shouldn't be a problem. "Amenities" include a gym that is rarely cleaned, often has no water, and is almost always out of wipes to wipe down the equipment. The community bathrooms next to the gym haven't been cleaned in weeks. The soap in the dispensers in that bathroom hasn't been refilled in - literally - over a year. I washed my hands and black grime came out with the soap. I wouldn't care except - ew. All it takes is one person, once or twice per day, to do a circuit of the upstairs space. Got water, wipes, soap? Yes? Cool! No? Quick refill. This isn't rocket science. As for cleaning: we pay ~$3200.00 per month for our two bedroom. Seems like their profits should be high enough to have cleaners hit the bathrooms and the gym once a week. ... ... .... or even once every few months. Gross. Again, this is not building maintenance's problem - those guys are awesome. It's office management's problem. The Carlyle cycled through a number of management teams while we lived there. (From Nov 2010 to Dec 2016.) They replaced the actual management company the month we left. I thought: "well, maybe it will get better right as we're moving out," and who knows - maybe it will. But when we left, the new folks still hadn't cleaned the bathrooms or refilled the soap. read more

IT'S A BUSINESS... Not a home. READ THE FINE PRINT. Expect a reasonable rate up-front and a 20-25% rent increase on renewal, they like to trap you. The amenities are nice enough but the management is horrible. Their staff is always new, and they have no idea what is going on (not their fault, poor management). Pipes/Plumbing is bad, floods, mold, etc. Constant maintenance requests, intrusive 'inspections'. Patios are basically for decoration, no kids toys, BBQs, etc. No point in having a patio at that point. If your looking at the place, just walk around and see all the empty apartments...
