We have lived in this community for a total of 19 years, and over the years we have lived in three different apartments within the same community. That alone probably says a lot about how much we love living here. This place truly feels like home to us. The entire staff is amazing and always so welcoming and helpful. Molly, the manager, consistently goes above and beyond to make sure residents are taken care of. Victor from the maintenance team is also fantastic and always helpful. And of course, the ladies in the leasing office and the entire front desk team are wonderful, everyone is friendly, professional, and genuinely cares about the residents. We absolutely love living here. We really appreciate the amenities, the beautiful community, and especially the sense of safety and security we feel. It's a peaceful, smaller community while still offering great amenities and everything you could want. After 19 years, the fact that we chose to come back says a lot. We would definitely recommend this community to anyone looking for a peaceful, safe, and welcoming place to call home. read more

Molly made my apartment tour an excellent experience. She was warm, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable about the property. I really appreciated how she explained everything clearly--from the unit features to the community amenities--and made sure all my questions were answered. Her attention to detail and genuine care for residents really stood out. Molly goes above and beyond to make the process easy and stress-free. I left the tour feeling confident and well-informed thanks to her guidance. read more

My wife and I lived at The Carlyle for over 3.5 years, and having recently moved cross-country, we can confidently say that no other place compares. You truly don't realize how good you have it until it's gone. The Carlyle sets the bar high with its exceptional service, beautiful apartments, and unbeatable location. A huge shoutout to Ricky and his team--they were always quick, professional, and thorough in handling any requests or issues. Since moving, we've rented from another so-called luxury building, but it doesn't even come close. The Carlyle's management and responsiveness are on another level. If you're considering living here, do it. You won't find a better-run, more welcoming community. We'll always miss our time here. read more

Review only for viewing apartments and interacting with management (we do NOT live here) In the recent era of self guided tours, interacting with Meghan in person at the Carlyle was a pleasant experience. She went above and beyond to show us all available options (including taking videos of units that were getting work done and not available for us to view the day we went). Although we have decided to sign a lease elsewhere, wanted to note that we had a great experience with the Carlyle management. read more

I've lived here almost a year and am relocating to the East Bay to be closer to family + work and let me tell you all you need to hear in this review: I truly believe that there will be no apartment complex that will ever compare to my experience at The Carlyle. From the amenities to the incredible staff to the absolute peace of mind you get in the safe community, this place comes out on top of any apartment hunting list. The gym and the pool (with two hot tubs and BBQ grills) truly are a necessity. I feel like I'm truly living in a resort. I have a unit in the back with a garage and getting out of my car and straight into my apartment is a luxury I know I won't get at many other places. The 800+ sq. ft space really gives you the flexibility to design in just about any way you want. The trash garages are a short walk from the units, mailboxes are well placed, the package room is secure, and the extra parking for guests is a huge plus. 10000/10 recommend The Carlyle for your residence -- I'm sad to be leaving. read more

Just wanted to update my review. Now, I've been living in this community for over a year. The club house has not been open since I moved in. So again, they have not been transparent about the construction and I have no faith that this will be ready anytime soon. Community has your strong qualities (apartment layout, location) but it is overpriced compared to other communities in the neighborhood that will offer a clubhouse at least. I haven't moved away for the simple fact that I wish not to deal with moving yet. read more

The walls here are so thin that you can hear every step your neighbor takes up above you. They also send contractors at random times of the day, doesn't matter if it's mornings or evenings. Would have been nice to be given a warning from management that contractors would show up on a Saturday morning to bang on hammers and create all sorts of ruckus right above me read more

We love it here. Beautiful Setting. Updated apartments. Great facilities. Wonderful staff. Can't wait to use the refurbished pool, jacuzzi and barbecues. We have been here 4 years and have made many friends. I know my work may take us elsewhere, but we have loved our time here. read more

The Carlyle is such an amazing place to live. My husband and I have been here for a few months. Despite the remodeling of the fitness center, the pool area and beautiful grounds make The Carlyle our sweet home. Pamela Peterson's professionalism and friendly personality makes this place 5 stars. We love the Carlyle! As a disabled veteran with a special needs child this feels more like a home than an apartment to us. The staff is so friendly and absolutely supportive of any of our needs in a timely manner. Special thanks to Nichol Hendricks who has been a tremendous help in my housing experience! The pool and the fountain and the grounds itself are beautiful. We love the wall-to-wall windows they let in so much light into our home. Walking distance to local parks which is so important for my son. We hope to continue to live here for many years to come! read more

My daughter and I currently live here at The Carlyle and wanted to take the opportunity to recognize the EXCELLENT service provided to us by Vivian Neria and Jenly Lam. They both exceeded our expectations and have been nothing but kind and compassionate. Needless to say that the complex and maintenance management is very efficient in solving an issues. The property is beautifully maintained, upscale, clean and safe. The units are updated and larger than in the newer built complexes. I'm grateful to be living here and enjoy every moment of this resort like experience everyday! Thanks! read more

Recently toured the Carlyle while looking for an apartment for my sister. We had a great experience touring the property. With customer service lacking theses days, we were pleasantly surprised with the level of service we received. We are looking forward to returning as her move-in date gets closer. read more

Little boxes, on the hillside, little boxes made of ticky tacky. The first three months of my American adventure were spent in a corporate housing type deal here at The Carlyle. I sat on my sofa and watched the hilarious (before it polevaulted the shark) series Weeds and remarked to myself how Agrestic and The Carlyle seemed to be cut from the same cloth. The highlight of this time period was having quite a raucous barbecue around the swimming pool, knocking back champagne and generally misbehaving while families looked at us in a bemused fashion. I think my friend Piggy went swimming in her underwear. Oh my. But to their credit, not one person raised an eyebrow and we were allowed to continue our party unmolested. The housing was comfortable and clean but didn't have a great deal going for it. It will always serve as a memorable introduction to the USA but also made me promise myself that no matter how desperate I got, I would never ever live in one of these places ever again. read more

Love the place and how close I am to the pool, parking and mailbox. Just really wish the gym was available. Opening day seems to be getting pushed back quite often, even though was told it would be ready months ago. Aside from that, management and neighbors are friendly. read more

The community is gated, very safe. There are beautiful trees and lovely garden in the community. It feels very quite and cozy. Next to a trail along with a small river on the backside of the community, very accessible if you love walking and enjoy the nature. Our unit was fairly big and the price is very reasonable, and the best part of it: it comes with attached garage so that our Tesla can park inside and charge. The leasing management staff are very friendly, helpful and also very responsive. They also got amenities updated recently. Me and my wife enjoy our time living at Carlyle. read more

David and Jenly are always friendly and helpful! The maintenance staff is awesome. They are prompt and competent! Mike, Jeramie and Chuy (Jesus), are always friendly, too. My spouse and I were thoroughly impressed with The Carlyle's staff that we encountered; Nichole and Mariana to be precise! We were apartment searching and found The Carlyle on Zillow, and we are SO glad we did! We cannot wait to actually move in and begin our lives together in this lovely area! The community is beautiful, the pool and hot tubs are pristine, the BBQ areas are sweet, and the fitness center is awesome! The property management does not provide clear guidelines/ any proper information. We don't find enough parking spaces inside the community to park. If I could rate this complex zero stars, I would. There are several serious difficulties I am currently experiencing with the staff at the Carlyle Court property in Santa Clara, CA. As a resident of almost four years, I am sad to say that I will no longer be recommending this property to anyone. I've been completely disrespected and mistreated on several occasions. If it isn't bad enough that I've been talked down to, and made to feel inferior, I have also been shoved aside by the manager of the property so as to not have to deal with my concerns. This person is a despicable representation of the company, and I am beyond offended, disgusted, and downright outraged at the lack of professionalism that continues to take place at this residency. read more

Great place to live. I have been living in Carlyle for 3 years. This is very cozy and homelike place. The complex has that relaxed and calm atmosphere where everything is taken care of. Nice pool with salted water, 2 hot tubs, great barbecue area. The spa zone in general is very relaxing and scenic. Central zone of the complex is done like a little European village: cozy trails here and there, trees, beautiful arcs and benches. Little a paradise, perfect place for families. Great nearby surroundings: a lot of free tennis courts, long trail for those who likes hiking or jogging. Good quality Safeway is just in 20 minutes by walk. The quality of life here is very high and this high quality wouldn't be possible without people who works there. These people are a cherry on the top of the cake :) My big gratitude to the managers team which runs the apartments. They are always helpful, polite and respectful. Whatever you need - they are fast with response and try to do maximum as they can to solve your problem. The complex is maintained clean and the guys checks that the established rules are followed. It is great pleasure to deal with them. My especial gratitude to maintenance guys: Jesus Lopez and Fausto Ramos. Several times I reported a problem with my apartments: broken disposal, change air filters, leak in washing machine, .... Every my request was processed very fast and with high professional approach. I was pleased when guys entered in my apartments and used shoe covers. Actually everyone in the maintenance team deserves high score. I am enjoying my life here and I hope the team of people who works here continue keeping that high standards. read more

I lived at the carlyle for 2 years and absolutely loved my time there. I moved to another city or else I would have stayed longer. I had a 2 bed 2 bath apartment. Some pros are: -spacious apartments -washer and dryer in units -nice sized balconies -free parking (although I wish you could pay for an additional assigned spot, during covid not many people moved their cars so if you left for a few hours and didn't have the garage spot and came back you would often come back to not many open spaces and have to park farther away) -AC -nice sized balconies -managers are nice and communicate promptly through email -maintenance guys are competent and awesome and are super nice and always helpful and always arrive on time with appointments -nice, large walk in closets in both rooms (I miss them) -master bath is also large and plenty of storage space -car wash station -trail behind apartments -walkable to a park -noise is pretty good within walls, I didn't really hear my next door neighbors in the master bedroom and living room, the only place I could hear my neighbors was in the bathroom and smaller room but that wasn't really a problem for me it was still fine Cons: -I lived near the gate so it was nice to be able to use my gate opener from the balcony but sometimes the gate would wake me up because it has a high pitch and squeaks--this comment is just to consider which apartment to choose based on what is more preferred by you -I personally had some issues with my hot water heater, even after they fixed it if both showers were in use the water would get cold within 10 mins so I always had to time my showers but it may have just been isolated to my apartment so test it out ahead of time to make sure it works by the time you move in -the smaller bedroom has an extremely thin window, it was always super cold in the room when it was cold outside and you could hear everything outside so a little more window insulation for one of the bedrooms would be ideal read more

The Carlyle is plagued with incompetent front desk staff. Never ever have I met anyone who can talk so much and convey so little. On the day of the move, when we got the keys and our truck was right outside, we noticed cowwebs, dirty carpet (with a black patch) and noisy tiles in the kitchen. The front desk was oh... nah.. is it.. and first came denial and then came apology and finally offer to address their incompetence. We are still living with these challenges because we don't want to engage with them anymore. They handover the gate keys which stopped working on day 2. Property manager was courteous and worked through extended hours to provide replacement. I have just been here for 3 months but I can see why this beautiful space gets so annoying. It's just do with this front staff who lack respect for the job they do. They don't hear you. They don't understand you. They love talking. They are incompetent. They don't send you invoice. They don't send you statements. They put random charges and surprise you. They made mistake in my lease and asked me to make banker check of X amount and the day of move in they wanted one day extra payment because they didn't do their maths. Thankfully they accepted the payment of difference by the personal cheque. Please stay away if you don't want to feel miserable meeting this front desk on regular basis. You will regret every interaction with them. I hope the management reads this feedback and takes some corrective actions. read more

The Carlyle is a beautiful, pleasant apartment community with serious management issues. I have worked a number of service jobs in my lifetime. Service jobs are hard; people everywhere are demanding and unreasonable, and around here people are entitled to boot. I understand that sh*t happens, and occasionally problems arise that have no good solution. I am the person who understands when things go awry. But sometimes, no one is handling the situation and things are going wrong because of poor management. (Read: The Carlyle.) The Carlyle had an inordinate number of glitches with their online rent payment system, which tenants were required to use. It was a monthly source of frustration. They managed to run checks twice (the same check), they lost packages of ours (delivered to the actual office), frequently couldn't find packages (we had to ask the office staff to look again, no seriously - look again), they double-booked their guest accommodations so we had to find a place for our guests after arranging with The Carlyle months in advance... basically there was a level of incompetence in the office that was a constant source of annoyance. While I worked hard to be kind and friendly - always hoping they would return the same - they often managed to be condescending and slightly unpleasant in person. The grounds are really lovely there. It was nice to have outdoor space. We lived on the third floor and got great light. The building maintenance guys are super professional, quick, and tidy. The apartments are good and the outdoor environment is great. It's building management here that is the problem. There are issues of basic maintenance in their community areas that shouldn't be a problem. "Amenities" include a gym that is rarely cleaned, often has no water, and is almost always out of wipes to wipe down the equipment. The community bathrooms next to the gym haven't been cleaned in weeks. The soap in the dispensers in that bathroom hasn't been refilled in - literally - over a year. I washed my hands and black grime came out with the soap. I wouldn't care except - ew. All it takes is one person, once or twice per day, to do a circuit of the upstairs space. Got water, wipes, soap? Yes? Cool! No? Quick refill. This isn't rocket science. As for cleaning: we pay ~$3200.00 per month for our two bedroom. Seems like their profits should be high enough to have cleaners hit the bathrooms and the gym once a week. ... ... .... or even once every few months. Gross. Again, this is not building maintenance's problem - those guys are awesome. It's office management's problem. The Carlyle cycled through a number of management teams while we lived there. (From Nov 2010 to Dec 2016.) They replaced the actual management company the month we left. I thought: "well, maybe it will get better right as we're moving out," and who knows - maybe it will. But when we left, the new folks still hadn't cleaned the bathrooms or refilled the soap. read more

Have lived here for 7 months now. My wife and I have also lived in apartments in several other cities. Yes, it is expensive, as the other reviewers have mentioned, but this is CA and everything here is expensive. We took an exhaustive tour of about 36 different apartment complexes in Santa Clara and analyzed them based on age, amenities, space, price, distance to my work, etc. We chose Carlyle and have been happy with our decision ever since. We have a third floor apartment with vaulted ceilings, 2 bdrm with just under 1200 sq ft. Rent is comparable to other places with similar amenities, and in some cases Carlyle is actually cheaper than smaller, newer places. We have central air, a large kitchen, and a nice balcony overlooking the mountains. The grounds on this property are stunningly beautiful. The amenities are nice, but not over the top. Some places charge more for offering tennis classes and movies and outings but we didn't want to pay for all that. Carlyle has a billiards room which you can reserve to play pool and watch the game. The main lodge has a well-maintained work out facility facing west and overlooking the pool, and overlooking a water fountain that runs down the middle of the complex. So, you can watch the sun set as you are working out. The adjoining bathrooms have saunas and full shower facilities. You can also drop off dry cleaning at the main office. The main office has free coffee. We have had appliances break down. Appliances will all eventually break down. Our water heater lost its pilot light in the middle of the night on a weekend. We called maintenance and they were there within 30 minutes, had a piece disassembled and replaced with a new piece, all within an hour. Now that is service. The front office help is always happy to talk to us and listen to any issues we may have or questions. We have reserved the guest suites in the main building twice, and had glowing reviews both times from our guests. I like the underground parking (one space per unit) and extra (free) storage lockers in the underground parking garage. There are always plenty of extra parking spaces around the gated complex for yourself and visitors. Even arriving home late, 8pm, on a week day evening, I can find a spot no problem. It is within 1 mile (walking distance!) of Safeway and many restaurants in the Rivermark Plaza. (We've also stayed at the Sierra Hotel in the plaza and liked it very much.) It is also right next to a nature preserve which runs the length of the river out back. Great for evening walks, just go out the back gate to the bike path running along the river. We like the cool features, the floor-to-ceiling windows in every room, vaulted ceiling, great kitchen space, extra large main bathroom, nice hardware and distinctive touches throughout the place. Our little courtyard area has its own water fountain with ferns and other plants/flowers. Maybe we could have paid a couple hundred less for a smaller place, in an older apartment complex, with no central air and no underground parking. But that wasn't where we wanted to be. We are happy we found The Carlyle. read more

After living at Carlyle Court for over two years, my last 6 months were HORRIBLE. I have never been so disrespected in my life. The first property manager was unwilling to work with me and hear my issues. She reasoned that the company valued money over customer/resident satisfaction and I had to really argue with her to even get her to contact her boss with the questions that I raised. She tried to lecture me in business management, even though I have twice as many years of experience. She later tricked me by saying she would put in the notice of ending my lease at the right time. Which now costs me $3000. I later find out her attitude was the reason she got fired. The second property manager would not even see me to give me a chance to explain the situation. After my complaint about the first property manager, one would assume the current manager would be more accommodating. After the very unpleasant surprise of my lease termination failure due to property manager number 1, the current manager blindly stated that there is NOTHING that can be done except charging her 2+ year resident (whom has never been a disturbance, not has ever been late with rent) $3000 dollars due to late termination of the lease. I would never in my life recommend someone leasing from Carlyle Court again. This place has become a plague of disrespectful employees who seem to care more about having coffee than doing their job. I mean, come on, at the very LEAST speak to your resident and hear their concerns. One star is one star too many. read more

This place does not get 5 stars mostly because of the cost to live here. We had one visit to the area to find an apartment as we were moving from the midwest. We chose the Carlyle. The Carlyle is a large complex with many corporate apartments. Surprisingly, there were quite a few families with children living here. The grounds were impeccable. I had Fridays off though - and that was a grounds day, so the lawn mowers started at about 8:00 am on Fridays, which didn't allow for sleeping in at all. We had an underground parking spot and there was always a spot in the parking lot for friends and visitors. It is a gated community - so we always felt pretty safe. I utilized the heated pool starting in May and throughout the summer, but they have two spas that people use year round. They have a small gym that looks out onto the pool. We would use the gym 5-6 days per week and usually were able to use one of the 3 treadmills, 2 elipticals, or 3 bikes. The downside was that people would mess with the air in the gym and sometimes it would be 80+ degrees and you couldn't change the temperature setting. The apartment itself was lovely. We had a two bedroom, 3rd floor unit. It was 1200 sq. ft and had high ceilings. The bathrooms are huge. It has in unit laundry which was wonderful. The tiled counters are pretty annoying in the kitchen and the appliances could have been updated. But overall the unit was impressive. When we first moved in - we never heard our neighbors. We contributed that to good design, but about 4 months before we moved out, we received new neighbors below us and they were quite noisy. We realized we had just had good neighbors before that point. You can also hear airplanes starting at about 5:30-6:00 am until about 10:00 pm. The longer you live there, the less the air traffic bothers you. During the winter - we developed a small problem with ants. I mentioned it to management and they added us to the "Tuesday" exterminator visit. So, I guess that they are used to the winter ant problem as we were added to the list. Overall, I really liked living at the Carlyle. Now that I live else where I realize that we paid way to much for the place though. I didn't want to move and didn't see many negatives, until I moved out. Then I was able to really look at the apartment and what worked and what didn't. The place spoiled me!!! But I realize I don't need all the extras to be happy! Management was always responsive to our work requests. This is not a bad place to live; especially if you can afford it!!! read more
