First time here for a work event. This banquet hall is fantastic for weddings, receptions and other events. We were served with a few appetizers of shrimp,orange chicken and Italian sausage bites. All were fantastic. Unfortunately I was not able to take and pictures of the food as it was set up buffet style. It was your typical banquet hall food of salad,chicken,beef and fish with sides of pasta and veggies. The food was better than other banquets I have attended. What a beautiful venue for a fundraising event, fashion show, and luncheon. The place is easy to find, but parking can fill up quickly for a big event. Nice, comfortable seating, lovely decor, even if the place seems a little dated. The servers and staff here work hard and are pleasant. Food was delicious. I like the layout of the place and large ballroom area. But the coat room line was quite long and moved slow. Although there were a lot of people at the event I attended, it didn't feel too crowded at our table of ten. I loved that servers offered us boxes to take home our leftovers, as the portions were big. One note, I ordered a chicken meal for my choice. I have used The Carlisle twice now. The first was for my wedding when I worked with Joanne; she was an absolute nightmare. She was sloppy, scatterbrained, an avid chain smoker, and I dreaded having to see her. It got to the point where I made my husband respond to her emails because I had enough. To The Carlisle's credit, she is no longer with them. I chose them for capacity and proximity to the church- those there were the driving factors at the time. The second occasion was my brothers engagement and that was because of necessity. They were available last minute and able to accommodate our party. This time we had Nikki who was much better than Joanne; she is knowledgeable, organized and reliable. If you get the chance to work with Nikki, you're in great hands! The venue has 3 rooms and each has a $10,000 food and drink minimum for a Saturday evening booking. The cost of additional decor was not included in the purchase minimum. The rooms are clean and well cared for. I don't know if I would recommend for smaller parties who book only a portion of the venue since parking is limited, only 1 bridal suite, and 1 set of restrooms. Noise does tend to carry over between rooms so it can be a nuisance. read more

I came here for a wedding and was very impressed by this venue. The room was absolutely gorgeous and the food was outstanding. I was incredibly impressed by the food. If you are thinking about planning an event here, the food options are awesome! Everybody at my table loved their food! Some of the highlights were the meat and cheese plate, cream of chicken soup, and the steak and mashed potatoes. It was great! The only "downside" is that the place tends to be super popular and there was another wedding happening next door with SUPER LOUD music that was playing right when the speeches were going on. They might want to invest in slightly thicker walls, but I am not sure if thats really the Carlisle's fault. Either way, good food, good drink, and good friends getting married! read more

If I could give The Carlisle a 100-star rating I would because they certainly deserve it! We held my daughter and son-in-law's wedding reception at The Carlisle this past weekend and to say that it was incredible is an understatement. This venue is a hidden gem in the western suburbs of Lombard and hands down beats some of the expensive hotels in the Loop. The room was beautiful and immaculate. We chose the Elite package and upgraded to the seafood/hors d'oeuvers table instead of the passed hors d'oeuvers. There were 3 long tables loaded with raw oysters, baked clams, raw and breaded shrimp, caviar, eggrolls, meatballs, and vegetable tarts just to name a few of the huge selections offered. We had 300 guests who were able to choose from a filet, sea bass, or chicken as their entre' and every meal was served piping hot. Lastly, the sweet table was spectacular and plentiful. Our guests have all been raving about the food and Martini luge. Last but certainly not least, Laura Papa, the event manager, is nothing short of AMAZING! She was such a pleasure to work with throughout the planning process and was on site the entire evening. She wasn't just on site she was in the room throughout the evening making sure everything was perfect. She is truly an asset to this venue. I would not hesitate to book future events at the Carlise. When the server got to our table we were told they ran out of the beef filet even though that was what we requested when the RSVP was returned. They had no control over what they were serving people. This was an elaborate wedding and I feel bad for the wedding party that paid a lot of money for their guests to be disappointed like this. Shame on this management. In addition there were huge lapse of time between each of the courses, with the main course finally served at 9:15pm. Lastly, the rest rooms were atrocious. The paper towel dispensers ran empty with trash from the paper towels over flowing. There was no up keep during the reception to keep these rest rooms clean! Not a banquet facility you would be proud to share with friends and family! This was a first where we were asked to pick a second choice for our meal! Good luck! read more

We had a beautiful wedding at the Carlisle in January. Planning was so easy. Lara and her associates were so receptive and listened to everything we wanted. There was exceptional attention to detail from Cocktail hour to last dance and send off! We chose to have 3 food stations, Greek, Italian, and carving. The food and mini desserts were absolutely delicious. They are experts in every aspect of wedding planning and worked together with all the other vendors such as florist, bakery, music, and photographers. Parking lot was well shoveled and salted. I celebrated my 70th Birthday at the Carlisle a couple of weeks ago. I am still getting comments from our guests about how good the food was and how beautiful the place is. The event planner, Laura Papas, was so pleasant to work with, very accommodating and flexible during the planning process. The service the evening of the event was excellent, food served hot, dessert table so beautifully done, everything was perfect. The ballrooms are so beautiful they don't need much decorating. This is a really pretty venue but parking can be crazy. There's not much room for a major amount of cars that would typically be left on the lot while a large-scale event is occurring. Otherwise, the inside of the building is really clean and a nice place to host an event. read more

I was there for a family wedding on Oct 19. The place was very nice but it lacked security in the parking lot. As I went to my car after the reception, I had noticed a busted out window as well as a couple others which had items stolen. We had addressed this to the manager at the time for them to check surveillance cameras. The location which I was parked was out of range or a blind spot and minimal lighting. Later that week I called the office to make a complaint and asked for a reimbursement for my damages. The office personnel took my information down and till this day still no word. I probably will not get anything out of this but just to make all aware that the parking lot is not safe. read more

We had our wedding ceremony and reception at The Carlisle in November of 2023. As most people, we looked at multiple venues to select the best one for our special day. After visiting several locations, we went to The Carlisle and from the moment we entered we knew this was the one. The Carlisle is very elegant with a lot of mirrors and crystal chandeliers and after meeting with the event planner we were sold. Laura Papa was welcoming, professional and explained everything clearly. She answered all our questions with great detail and made suggestions, but never tried to upsell us. Checked out this venue for my wedding. Menus were available online, and I didn't have any difficulty booking an appointment. However, the wedding consultant was a bit rude when I arrived. We were asked how many guests we expected and then shown a room that would be appropriate. The room looked too small, so I asked to see the other room. The consultant appeared annoyed and told me I couldn't have the other room (though it was available). Also, they have a minimum tab you have to meet. Most venues in the area only required a minimum amount of guests. Too much math. Not friendly. Decor is a little outdated, and there are lots of comparable venues in the area like Ashton Place, Drury Lane or the Abbington. read more

We hired the Carlisle for our wedding reception and due to COVID19 it was impossible to have our reception this year. We politely requested our deposit back from the hall and they refused to refund our money but felt they were entitled to keep our four thousand dollars without providing any value to us regardless of us not being able to conduct the event this summer. We are deeply saddened by how we were treated. After seeing how my friends and family were treated by other venues, I would not recommend this venue to anyone, as they are lacking ethically in how they treat customers. We are pursuing legal action against the venue for our money. Do yourself a favor and hire a venue that cares about your big day and your personal interests!! read more

I first came here in Nov. '10 for a fraternity initiation, and then again a few weeks ago for my school's winter formal. The FIRST time I was here, I was pretty impressed. The food was halfway decent, and the interior matched the exterior's snazzy look. When I came a few weeks ago, I was expecting good food & a fun time. Unfortunately, the food fell extremely short of my expectations. I had the chicken dish with mushrooms, mashed potatoes and pea pods, while my husband has the beef shish kabob. The chicken was dry and mediocre at best due to the lack of marsala sauce. It just tasted...boring. Peas are one of my favorite vegetables so I was really excited about them, but they turned out to be kind of chewy and uncomfortable to eat. The mashed potatoes were just disappointing. My husband was expecting an actual steak since he signed up for beef, but Carlisle figured out how to economize by giving all the beef lovers shish kabobs instead. I guess it's a clever tactic... The bathrooms were super clean & elegant looking and the staff was really friendly, so I guess that's a plus. The location is convenient, although it's kind of a pain to actually get into the lot and find parking when it's busy. If only the food quality matched the decor... read more

Attended a wedding in the Oakbrook room on Saturday. The food, drinks, and overall service was great. The room itself was falling apart. The wallpaper was peeling, the ceiling was leaking/peeling/chipping. The website states it's remodeled... But it's not. The lights are just turned down incredibly low. I had my wedding here a couple weeks ago, and despite my initial fears, everything went pretty well. The servers were friendly with everyone and went out of their way to make my guests happy. The food tasted fantastic, the cake that came with the package was pretty and tasty, and any questions we had were answered on the spot. The staff even made us new table cards when our's didn't fit ( and they came out looking great) I have only two issues with the Carlisle My husband and I were thrown into different coordinator's hands. We went from one who had a back problem and left, to another who had personal affairs to attend so she was on and off. Then the night of we were with another woman who we hadn't met prior to the event. Now, all of these women were nice and helpful but it didn't feel very personal to have to keep switching. We shared the banquet hall with what appeared to be a college "prom". The kids had wrecked the restroom, apparently vomited on the floor , and tried many times to crash my wedding. If I didn't have an extended family of bikers and a cop for a mother, I have a feeling my wedding would've been a disaster. I wouldn't have had an issue with it but my elderly guests had a hard time getting to the restroom with 50 college kids blocking them from moving anywhere. Only after my mother yelled at a manager did they send an employee to guard the area. The price was great and everything worked out well. If you can handle a snag or two and are tight in the budget department, this is the place to go. read more

I was here as part of a bridal party, and was pleasantly surprised. This was the best wedding food I'd had in a while! We had chicken and beef, and just when you thought the meal was over, they came out with pasta and sausage! It was all so good, I could've burst out of my dress. The dessert table they had was also very nice, the bride opted for many options including fondue. I didn't like that the brides room was on the opposite side of the venue, that was a little inconvenient and a little worrisome when leaving personal belongings in there. I just had my wedding here on 04/26 and I wanted to write a review based on my great experience since I see some not so good ones on Yelp. Our wedding coordinator was Kris and she was great. In our initial meeting she took her time and spent time with me and my now husband to go over all the different options. Even when I was undecided and hadn't booked the hall we would go in and ask her something and she was never bothered. The prices are not bad at all and it is grea value. The food is delicious plus their prices include the cake. This banquet hall is gorgeous, it is really not outdated at all. It is beautiful and looks very classy. All of our guests commented on how beautiful it was. We only booked one of the smaller rooms and yes it looks small at first glance. On the big day however with everything set up, it looked huge! We had 140 guests and we had room for more. They set up all of our favors, placecards, guestbook, champagne flutes and took care of everything. It made my day just so much easier! Everything was gorgeous when we walked in. Everyone was also so attentive the day of our wedding. The person in charge of our room was making sure me and my husband were taken care of and was very helpful. Kris was even there part of the time and made sure everything was going according to plan. She even went out of her way and brought in some Red Bull for my husband since he wouldn't be taking advantage of the open bar! Even the owner came in and checked on us and made sure everything was perfect that day. I also dealt with Megan and she was just as nice. Do not use this facility! Nothing but incompetent, unprofessional staff. We fired our consultant before my wedding and had a manager take over due to nothing but stress and problems while wedding planning. We (bride and groom) had our cake taken away before we ate any of it, never got any h'or deourves, and half empty drinks were cleared any time someone walked away for a minute. Since we didn't eat our cake, I ordered one for our anniversary only to get the run around and be lied to when they gave my cake to the wrong person. My husband and I just got married at the Carlisle this past Friday, the 11th of October, 2013, and I must say that this place did an AMAZING job! I worked with Kris and Maureen throughout the past year and a half planning my wedding, and these women went above and beyond to make sure that my wedding was everything I ever dreamed of! The place is absolutely GORGEOUS, the way that each table was decorated and the way that the sweet table and all the little intricate details were arranged... my expectations were exceeded! We had 205 people, and had two rooms (oabrook and lombard). Not ONE of our guests had anything bad to say. The food was delicious. The cake and sweets were delicious. The bar was completely stocked. Staff was extremely friendly. I could NOT be happier with how things turned out. And I cannot thank the Carlisle enough for making our wedding a night we will NEVER forget. My fiancé and I had an appointment and came in for a wedding tour and information on pricing last month and it was the worst experience we have had in a banquet hall. We were excited to check this place out but our moods changed completely after talking to a lady named Maureen. The moment we walked in, we did not feel welcome. During the quick five minute tour and during our brief meeting, I had the feeling as if we were bothering her... Her attitude really killed our day and hopes of liking this place. She was not enthusiastic or interested in our views; she never asked what we liked. She acted as if it was a problem that we were there and that we weren't "good enough" for them. The funny thing is that she didn't even give us a dollar estimate on how much a wedding would be... That didn't seem to make sense at all to me. When we sat in her office, she simply put the meal options packet in front of us and didn't say a word, it felt awkward. She also seemed to not give me straight answers on the questions I asked. We really wanted to like this place, but Maureen killed it for us. I wouldn't recommend this place if you want to be treated with respect or want to feel important. Lacking customer service. read more
