I got a quote a little higher than I wanted, so I called around and it was about 200$ more at both places I called. As a female college student who has a mechanic for a dad, I had some questions I wanted to ask to make sure I wasn't being ripped off. When I called Firestone back to ask those questions, I spoke to a woman needed to put me on hold about three times to get answers. Finally, she came back and somehow the price had gone up about 40$. I asked her how that was possible and she said "I don't know that's just how it is." I asked her another question and she then proceeded to hang up on me, as if my car was not literally parked at the shop to be worked on. I immediately called back and a man named Matt answered the phone. Matt was more professional than the woman I spoke to and answered all my questions and listened to my concerns. I think due to the woman being unprofessional and hanging up on a paying customer, they gave me a discount which was very much appreciated. When I went to pick up my car, the woman then rudely questioned my discounted price in front of me. My discounted quote was upheld. Firestone was able to get me in very quickly and get the parts needed quickly as well. While I don't appreciate being hung up on for simply asking rather routine questions, every other staff member I spoke to was very nice and helpful. Thank you Firestone for taking care of my car and my wallet! And thank you too Matt as well.

My MINI, just shy of 130K, inhales oil these days so the 8000-10000k recommended interval between oil changes is LAUGH OUT LOUD hysterical. I'm getting 4K at best. At. Best. We had some last minute business to take care of in VA Wednesday morning and my Tuesday was swamped. There was no way I could get the car to my trusted mechanic for an oil change. I was miffed about this since the maintenance countdown was at around 800 miles when I left. Still, I reasoned that I could just take care of it in VA (and secretly prayed I wouldn't get the low oil warning while on the highway). We made it into town fine. Last night on a 4th meal run the dang low oil light came on (3,000 miles since my last oil change mind you smh) and I said welp I'll just get an oil change anyway instead of topping it off. Now, I've only had dealer changes under maintenance plan or at my actual mechanic so living like the proletariat and going to a quickie lube service did not bring me joy. The $15 off full synthetic coupon did. As did the fact that I could sit in the car in my jammies. Ahem. I pulled up and was in the service bay within 10-15 minutes. This is when the fun started. No one could get my hood open. It's basically just a double tap on the hood once I pop it from inside. At one point there were 5 people trying to get it open. Hello - doesn't anyone YouTube??? During this roundabout the mulberry bush that was the bonnet, someone else asked where is the brake fluid? Like--- I was asked about all the services that don't actually need to be done and declined natch. Then I was told my front wipers were fine (they aren't, they're shredded like cheese) but the back one was "a little flat." It's actually perfect. I bet if I did a price comparison on front vs back wipers id fine something interesting... Again, I declined. Oil change is complete and I roll off only to see that the service light wasn't reset. So then I rolled back around lol. At one point my brother texted me "dude just get the hell out of there." That said, the employees were nice. I don't see too many MINIs in this rural town and experience is the best teacher so I guess they were learning on the fly. I was hype about the total $104 price for a full synthetic oil change. MINI and my guy typically take me behind the woodshed for $130-$140. But they also know where the brake fluid is sooooo. The real test will be if I make it the 500 miles back home unscathed. I will say though it rides like butter now, so something went right.
