I think there a lot of excellent ice cream options in the area, and I also frequent them, but ice cream cannot beat frozen custard when that's exactly what I'm craving. Admittedly I haven't taken an extensive dive into the Andy's menu, but I know what I like. What I like is the Double Double Malt. Deliciously thick, and I like opting for butterscotch instead of chocolate on occasion. There's a lot of gratitude I have for living near this location since this is one of my favorite comfort treats. Does it completely replace my favorite Wisconsin custard establishments? No, they are still the gold standard. But this is the closest thing to home. Yes, even over a certain chain that originated there. Now, where they have a leg up on Andy's is by also serving food alongside custard, but when I'm just craving the frozen treat, I'll stick with Andy's. Oh, and speaking of Wisconsin yet again, they have Sprecher products! Another +1 in my book for this place.

I also asked if they offered kid's sizes and unfortunately was informed only for their sundaes. The young lady let me know most people ask if they offer anything larger than a large and seemed shocked by my question. He opted for the strawberry oreo shake and as a butter pecan connoisseur myself, I couldn't resist. I also got my husband a root beer freeze to-go. My son really liked it. My husband and I both ended up with instant headaches which usually happens when there is a lot of artificial ingredients but as far as taste, it was delicious. So, needless to say, for what it is and if you're into this type of stuff, it is for you.

no but like we're OBSESSED…read more my friends and i are always on the hunt for the next sweet treat. we were sitting on the couch and GSTC popped up on my feed. we immediately got in the car and made the trip. this shop is tucked away right off downing with plenty of street parking and seating outside. they sell ice cream in two sizes, mini, or pint. there are standard flavors and seasonal flavors. they also have a wide variety of brownie/blondie cups, cake cups which are essentially mini ice cream cakes, ice cream cake pops, popsicles, ice cream sandwiches, etc. the hardest part was choosing what to get because EVERYTHING looks delightful. we ended up ordering a bunch of minis to share. avalanche affogato - one of the best coffee ice creams i have ever tasted. fabulous texture. bristle cone - malted vanilla, salted caramel, candied waffle cone pieces, chocolate chips. yum! lemon curd raspberry - lemon curd ice cream with raspberry jam. this was SO refreshing but still rich like ice cream should be. need more of this. smoked vanilla honeycomb - smoked ice cream with golden honey toffee. it's like perfectly crunchy honeycomb and melty toffee went to a campfire. my personal fave. cannoli - self explanatory. pieces of cannoli / chocolate chips. well done. and then we also got a caramel cornflake blondie. we waited until we got home so that the blondie softened up a little. it was a blondie base, caramel ice cream, caramel syrup, crunchy cornflakes, and whipped cream. i will probably dream about this sundae tonight. we did not have a single bite of ice cream that we weren't absolutely thrilled about. finally a place that mixes in enough toppings!! amazing flavors. amazing textures. amazing service. we will absolutely be making the drive down again soon. mainly because i NEED to try every flavor. i didn't find the pricing to be bad for the quality either! minis were $4.50 and loaded. heads up that it is not a scoop shop and they don't do samples. everything is pre-packaged. only one small standing table inside. super tiny tables out front + large table setup out back. what a treat this was.

BUT OH MY GOODNESS - I THINK THIS IS THE BEST ICE CREAM PLACE IN DENVER. I bought 2 pints and they were so delicious. Perfectly creamy ice cream with a TON of mix-ins if you like that. I think getting the pint is the best way to experience their ice cream, especially if you love mix-ins and toppings. Street parking but it's not impossible to find a spot within 2-3 blocks. Limited outdoor seating. No wait during Thursday dinner.

So some of our group started with their ice cream while we waited. There was only one person cooking and one running the front - and I do mean running. She didn't even have time to take a breath! Their ice cream is definitely their star. The flavors are creative and delicious and the toppings craveworthy. I've had their burgers before at a pop up and they were wonderful. That wasn't the case today. I'm betting that was due to there only being one cook and a large crowd. I'm not sure why they were so understaffed on a warm weekend day but it definitely effected the food quality. All of our burgers were way overcooked and greasy. I had to wipe the grease off the top of my bun before I ate some. The fries were pretty good but cold. They only have 4 small tables outside for seating and all the tables were pretty dirty. There was also a lot of trash on the ground. So I bumped my rating to 4 stars because of the ice cream and the front of house staff person. I don't think I'd order food there again though.
