Thanks to the colorful signage and the bouncy house in the yard, this shop was all our kids would talk about and refer to throughout our entire meal. We stopped in for a "brief visit" on our way back to our car and ended up staying an hour+. There is the bouncy house, a porch swing and benches, and toys, and puzzles galore inside. There were some really unique items for kid bedrooms, like paper unicorn heads to mount to the wall or gorgeous rocks and gems to bring their day luck and a bit of pizzaz. Don't forget the huge candy selection, both bulk and pre-packaged. There are also kid tables set up with interactive stations with puzzles and crafts for kids to try out and stay occupied with. We ended up doing gem mining in the back yard of this shop. They have a patio setup where kids can pan for gems and fossils found within sand and sediment in pre-purchased buckets from inside. It was a hit! My kids were so excited. We will certainly stop in here again when in Ellijay. Shop small, y'all!

One of the employees gave us a quick blurb on the candy factory's history: It's a family business of many decades dedicated to handcrafting a diverse range of Southern sweets and delicacies. The founder is Stan, aka "The Candy Man." Aside from the wall-to-wall and candy dispensers, SCK also offers Gourmet Popcorn, Pralines, Divinity, Cakes/Pies, and various gift ideas. I walked away with bags of some of my favorites - Hot Tamales, other Mike & Ike's flavors, Sweet Tarts, and Cherry Sour Balls & Jelly Beans. It was cool to watch the gourmet popcorn, chocolates, and candied apples being made. The sweet landmark you have to stop by when in Nashville. Just don't snack too much before dinner.

I moved from California…read morethis summer and by far I have come to discover that southern hospitality is a real thing, since moving to Huntsville I have felt welcomed everywhere I go and the hospitality has been by far better than I could have expected. That's until I walked into the Morgan price candy company. At first when I walked in, I noticed several women making candy & chocolate, there was one woman in the register and not a single one greeted me. Secondly, I saw them restocking chocolate and I approached one of the women restocking to ask what chocolates are their best sellers, since this was my first time here. She responded in a very snarky way by telling me there's all types of candy all over the store and it's up to me what I'd like and what my taste is like. Then proceeded to walk away. When I went to the register I asked the woman there if I could have one of their chocolate covered apples which she said they didn't have any left, then I showed her the entire batch that was in front of me and she proceeded to tell me they were not for sale. When I kindly asked when they would have more available for sale she then responded "well I don't know, we've been so busy because of the holidays, we don't know when we'll run out of things". Ahhh got it! This place doesn't need my business, then I proceeded to walk away. The fact that they are overwhelmed by the holidays doesn't give these women the entitlement to act so rude when someone is simply trying to experience their store for the first time. I didn't have the opportunity to buy anything as it seemed like they didn't want me as a customer, therefore I cannot rate the quality of their chocolates or candies. But if it's as bad as their hospitality, then I wouldn't have high expectations.

May I just say that some "things" have changed at MPCC. Please come back and try again! :)read more

A Sweet Spot in Chattanooga!…read more Rocket Fizz is one of my favorite chain stores to visit whenever I travel, and the Chattanooga location is truly a gem! We had just wrapped up a fun-filled afternoon at the pinball museum down the street and decided to walk over for a treat--best decision ever. The store is bright, clean, and packed wall-to-wall with colorful candies, vintage sodas, nostalgic toys, and quirky gifts. It's like stepping into a time capsule of fun. The displays are well-organized and make browsing a total blast. Whether you're hunting for your favorite childhood candy or looking to try a bacon-flavored soda just for laughs, this place has it all. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, happy to answer questions and chat about some of the more unusual flavors on the shelves. Their enthusiasm added to the experience and made us feel right at home. I left with a cold soda and a bag full of goodies--and already can't wait to come back. Rocket Fizz Chattanooga is a must-visit stop for anyone with a sweet tooth, a love of pop culture, or just a craving for something delightfully different!

They have I believe 90 different flavors of taffy, which is wild! Naturally I had to get one of each, duh. They had another 3/4 of the store that I only glanced at. They truly do have a lot of options so if you are looking for something specific they probably have it. This is a great spot to casually check out while walking by. They also had drinks. In my mind, this is more of a sweets shop because of the variety. I was expecting more of a scoop-style like a classic candy shop where they have bins that are covered. All the options for putting into bags are individually wrapped. I was perfectly happy with that and it makes sense from an operational angle. Just a different vibe than what I was expecting.

Cadence is hands down one of the most professional and personable people I've ever come across in retail. Every time we come in, she goes out of her way to make us feel welcome. The way she treats my kid really stands out she's patient, kind, and genuinely cares, which is something you don't see everywhere. You can tell she takes pride in what she does. The store is always clean, well stocked, and has all the latest trendy and viral candies, but what keeps us coming back is her. She creates an experience, not just a quick stop for sweets. She's the kind of person you just know is going to go far, whether that's running her own store someday or leading a team. I really hope the store recognizes how valuable she is, because employees like her are rare.

But let's be real: It's SUGAR is the ultimate candy destination. It's not cheap, but it's a one-stop shop for all things sweet. Located in the heart of Bridge Street, where rent isn't exactly budget-friendly, this isn't your Dollar General candy run before a movie. It's a place designed to bring joy--especially for kids. They have a great mix of build-your-own-bag options in the center of the store, pre-packaged favorites lining the walls, and a fantastic selection of novelty treats, classic throwbacks, and even international candies. The staff is friendly, helpful, and ready to answer any questions. For me, it checks every box for a five-star experience. Yes, it costs a bit, but if you calibrate your expectations, you'll appreciate it for what it is. This store is a staple of my kids' childhood, and even now, at 21, my oldest still lights up when we visit. That alone makes it worth every penny.

Don't think that you'll be finding a lot of bargains at the Russell Stover store - there is a discount area but the majority of the store is full retail price. The store is absolutely filled top to bottom with chocolate but what struck me was that there was a lot of duplication of product. I found the same box of chocolate covered cherries in three sections. There were displays of "chews" in numerous locations throughout the store. Don't get me wrong, there was a wide variety of chocolates but not nearly as much as I initially thought. Also, there wasn't anything really unique - I've seen a majority of these products at one time or another at my local grocery store - and there I can often get them on sale. The discount area was the biggest disappointment. There were boxes of "mistakes" - you have no idea what you'll get - even though the boxes were discounted, I wasn't willing to take a chance on getting a box of icky creams and my husband wasn't willing to risk getting a box of his aversions - coconut, cherries and raisins (though I'd be thrilled with that box AND I wouldn't have to share!). Other items were leftover holiday candy - half off valentines and Easter candy - really? Even at Walgreens, those satin heart boxes will go to 70% off. I didn't leave the store empty handed, come on - we are talking chocolate, but I did leave the store knowing that I wouldn't go out of my way to go back.
