What's NOT to love about this place? It's sugar heaven! We like to come here and handpick our own candy before catching a movie. :)

I moved from California…read morethis summer and by far I have come to discover that southern hospitality is a real thing, since moving to Huntsville I have felt welcomed everywhere I go and the hospitality has been by far better than I could have expected. That's until I walked into the Morgan price candy company. At first when I walked in, I noticed several women making candy & chocolate, there was one woman in the register and not a single one greeted me. Secondly, I saw them restocking chocolate and I approached one of the women restocking to ask what chocolates are their best sellers, since this was my first time here. She responded in a very snarky way by telling me there's all types of candy all over the store and it's up to me what I'd like and what my taste is like. Then proceeded to walk away. When I went to the register I asked the woman there if I could have one of their chocolate covered apples which she said they didn't have any left, then I showed her the entire batch that was in front of me and she proceeded to tell me they were not for sale. When I kindly asked when they would have more available for sale she then responded "well I don't know, we've been so busy because of the holidays, we don't know when we'll run out of things". Ahhh got it! This place doesn't need my business, then I proceeded to walk away. The fact that they are overwhelmed by the holidays doesn't give these women the entitlement to act so rude when someone is simply trying to experience their store for the first time. I didn't have the opportunity to buy anything as it seemed like they didn't want me as a customer, therefore I cannot rate the quality of their chocolates or candies. But if it's as bad as their hospitality, then I wouldn't have high expectations.

May I just say that some "things" have changed at MPCC. Please come back and try again! :)read more

Don't think that you'll be finding a lot of bargains at the Russell Stover store - there is a discount area but the majority of the store is full retail price. The store is absolutely filled top to bottom with chocolate but what struck me was that there was a lot of duplication of product. I found the same box of chocolate covered cherries in three sections. There were displays of "chews" in numerous locations throughout the store. Don't get me wrong, there was a wide variety of chocolates but not nearly as much as I initially thought. Also, there wasn't anything really unique - I've seen a majority of these products at one time or another at my local grocery store - and there I can often get them on sale. The discount area was the biggest disappointment. There were boxes of "mistakes" - you have no idea what you'll get - even though the boxes were discounted, I wasn't willing to take a chance on getting a box of icky creams and my husband wasn't willing to risk getting a box of his aversions - coconut, cherries and raisins (though I'd be thrilled with that box AND I wouldn't have to share!). Other items were leftover holiday candy - half off valentines and Easter candy - really? Even at Walgreens, those satin heart boxes will go to 70% off. I didn't leave the store empty handed, come on - we are talking chocolate, but I did leave the store knowing that I wouldn't go out of my way to go back.

Previously, you could find them at pop-ups around town and more recently in their distinctive mirrored food truck. They still participate in these events, but now you can go get an apple on almost any day of the week. This was my first time trying them, but it certainly will not be my last. The storefront is still being built up/decorated but they have a nice glass wardrobe with the apple flavors available for the day on display. They also have a menu on a tv screen that displays their other goods - I remember chocolate strawberries and Biscoff pudding cups. I believe Scooty herself was there when I visited last Tuesday. Whoever it was, she was so welcoming and genuinely pleasant. We had a nice chat about the business. She was working on making apples when I arrived but there was still a solid selection to choose from. They have a truly impressive number of delicious sounding flavors that I'm sure you could order online if you didn't find them in store. I got a buttery caramel apple, a cookies and cream apple, and a German chocolate apple. Literally ALL of them were fantastic. The apples were so wonderfully crisp and juicy. The caramel was indeed BUTTERY and the perfect balance of sweetness with the tart apples. The cookies and cream was sweet and covered in chocolatey cookie crumbs and sweet vanilla cream. My favorite was the German chocolate because it had such an amazing blend of textures and flavors - and you could taste them all! Sweet and moist coconut flakes, slightly salty pecans, rich dark chocolate, buttery caramel, tart apple...legit one of the best desserts I've had in a long time. My husband hasn't stopped asking me to get more since we ran out and to be honest, I haven't stopped thinking about them either! I'll be back -- soon. You should visit, too, or find them at one of their popups around town! They post their schedule very reliably on social media. Thank you so much for such a delightful treat!

It's a small little shop tucked into a tiny mini mall with a very cute, welcoming atmosphere. We met one of the owners, who told us they make the apples fresh every single day. I went for the Apple Pie Caramel Apple and a cup of Banana Pudding. Gurl! When I say that banana pudding is on point, I mean I would push my grandma--may she rest in peace--for the last one. It is that good. Creamy, perfectly balanced, and addictive in the best way. The caramel apple was equally fantastic--you can tell it's fresh, with soft, chewy caramel that they make themselves from scratch. You can literally taste the love and care in every bite. And can we talk about the irony? A former dental hygienist now selling caramel apples. Hilarious and amazing. Highly, highly recommend this place. Will definitely be making this a weekly treat!

I was surprised to find it in the old Whisk'd location -- RIP to Whisk'd; I loved that restaurant. Street parking only but the street is quiet and it's easy to pop in and out. Inside there's a huge array of confections: classic chocolates like turtles, chocolate covered pretzels, marshmallows, etc., as well as fresh baked cookies and a somewhat startling amount of freeze dried candies. I know that's sort of having a moment right now, but WOW there was a lot of freeze dried stuff to choose from. I don't dislike it but I prefer chocolatey treats so I skirted around the big display. I came about 1.5 hours before closing and will admit the selection (other than freeze dried) was a little sparse. I'm glad they're not letting products go to waste, but in the future, definitely come early if you want to ensure you get everything. More than one customer asked/called in for something only to be turned away while I was shopping around. Of course, the holidays might also have something to do with very high demand. Anyway, I wound up leaving with two cookies (only about four varieties were available when I arrived -- I took a chocolate chip and a brown butter cookie), three chocolate covered pretzels, and one pecan turtle. The service was limited to being rung up at the cash register, but the employee was nice in our limited interaction. My husband and I enjoyed all the treats over the following days! The chocolate was smooth and rich on pretzels and pecans, the caramel chewy and satisfying. The pecans and pretzels were both crispy and fresh -- no problems with staleness here. The cookies were good, too, though perhaps a tiny touch oily. I liked the brown butter better but both were enjoyable! They're the perfect size to share. I'd definitely return here for sweets!

The outside of the shop advertises all the goodies inside. It kind of reminds me of a candy store you might find in a resort/tourist town like Pensacola Beach or Gatlinburg: fudge, popcorn, candy apples, lots of different kinds of confections. A bell rang as I walked in and someone came out to serve me right away. He was pleasant and eager to share with me all about their products. He offered me samples of all the popcorn and fudge and also told me about their loyalty program and their monthly drawings. One thing I really liked was they had a lot of popular treats (turtles, chocolate covered graham crackers, chocolate covered Oreos, etc) each available in all the different varieties of chocolate (i.e. milk, dark, and white chocolate). They also have turtles made with cashews, as well as the traditional pecan. I got a dark chocolate cashew turtle for my mom, a regular milk chocolate pecan turtle for me, milk chocolate covered graham crackers for my husband, and a bag of cheddar cheese popcorn. I don't remember the total off the top of my head, but I do remember feeling it was a touch on the pricy side. Each item was wrapped nicely. Mom enjoyed her treat and so did husband. He was nice enough to give me one of the graham crackers and it was very good! Nice ratio of chocolate to graham and the chocolate was super nice and creamy. I still haven't gotten around to my chocolate but I imagine it will be similarly tasty. Haven't yet met a turtle I didn't like. The cheddar popcorn was just alright. I thought the cheese flavor was a little too artificial for my preferences, and some of the popcorn was a tiny bit stale, though none of it was unpleasant enough to keep me from eating it, lol. Just nit picking. Overall, this is a nice little shop with lovely service and especially good chocolates. Give them a try if you're passing through!
