I bought this candle at one of its fundraisers for my school. it smelt amazing and lasted me a very long time yes. But when I went to use it this last time. I was intending to leave it burning for only a few hours. just like I have don't before in the past. as I was doing stuff around my room away from the candle. I heard this cracking noise. and I thought it was very weird and suspicious so I went to go check it out and the entire top part of my glass container where the candle was completely black and it was cracking the glass and so I quickly put the top over it put the Kindle out and after it was for cool the glass was extremely hot and so I picked it up in the entire came off the glass jar. I was very surprised as it has not done this in the past. needless to say, I am very disappointed with the product. read more

Left Midland over 12 years ago and really missed the candles I'd always loved from Candle Cafe. Decided to call to ask about possibly shipping them to me. The sweet owner (Brandy) boxed up my order and it arrived so quickly. Perfectly packed, too! Sunshine is my favorite candle and Pink Katz is really special. Nothing beats my old favorite, Leather, but I tried some new scents and am glad I did! All amazing! Thanks again. Just placed my second shipping order and my co-workers are ready to order their favorites, next time, as well. They even poured some Longhorn burnt orange for us Austinites. My absolute FAVORITE candles. Nothing else even compares. Found this place when I briefly lived in West Texas. The quality of the candles is amazing, you can burn it and the smell stays even after the candle is blown out. They create some unique/amazing scents that you don't find just anywhere. Butt Naked is my all time favorite, blue suede shoes is quickly becoming a favorite. I try to buy local for Christmas and routinely buy Texas scents like leather n lace as gifts for our of state friends (or even local!). They have amazing seasonal scents too. Every time someone comes to my house and I'm burning a candle cafe candle i get asked what candles I use and get so many compliments. The price is absolutely comparable and a honestly a steal compared to the "worlds best candle" (B&BW-quality isn't even as good as candle cafe). I have to have the candles shipped to me since I moved to San Antonio, and I die a little bit inside dropping $30 on shipping to stock up, (I usually get around 15 at a time lol), but with the shipping price the candle price is still a good deal. I am interested in purchasing fragrantly scented candles & wax melts at a reasonable cost, also I live in Midland, Tx & am also an Artist of many mediums, so supporting local small businesses in my area has always been important to me. We all need to do that for each other & keeping your money in your home town is advisable & important. I've read the reviews & with everything in life, everyone sees & feels situations differently. I like the idea that they have many fragrances available, so I'm anxious to go & see what they have. It would most likely be more convenient & economical to purchase these items locally read more

Best candles ever! Seriously. These are the best smelling candles ever. Since most of them are only $13 that's honestly less than the big brand candles. They are better & cheaper so, I happily purchase all of my candles from Candle Cafe. They make amazing gifts too. I also buy the wax melts which are amazing for a constant good smell. This has been my favorite candle store for many years. Since I don't live in West Texas anymore, I order them and they ship to my house free! What more could you ask for! Love love love this place! I thought it was a safe buy purchasing a cinnamon candle, I mean, how can it smell bad?. Well, it was the worst smelling candle I ever smelled. I tried to take back to try and exchange it, but was told nothing they could do. I offered to buy another candle, maybe they could take 50% off or something to accommodate me. But was told No. When I sent owner message, she was very rude and sent several 4-6 inch responses literally yelling at me with reasons why she wouldn't exchange or make it right. She has no tact and surely doesn't deserve my business when there are so many other candle makers out there, that don't make bad batches of candles. Not once did she even acknowledge that perhaps the candle did smell off. She only told me about the store policy if no exchanges, blah, blah, blah. No customer service skills at all! Oh how I used to love this place. This was the only place I would buy candles until I met the owner. She is utterly rude. This place is the epitome of bad customer service! As much as I love their candles I will not return. If you care to hear about my experience read on: I used to live in Odessa, but live in Austin now. I still go back to west texas at least 4 times a year. Every trip I made back home I would pick up 9-12 candles for myself and my friends. Each visit I would spend well over $100. I've had problems with the candles several times where the fragrance separates from the wax. One of the employees told me this was a fire hazard and if I ever had that occur to bring it back. Well, I used to unknowingly burn the candles anyway. So after having been told this, the next time it happened I set it aside for my return trip to Odessa. The next time I visited I brought the defective candle in to exchange it. The woman working scolded me for having burned half the candle (although it takes burning the candle to realize that there is a problem). The woman was very rude and made me feel as though I was cheap and tried to make it sound like I was taking advantage of this independently owned business. All this despite the fact that a previous employee encouraged me to bring back the candle because it was in fact a fire hazard. After the lecture she exchanged the candle, but told me she would exchange it just this once. I was so upset by the way I was treated I didn't even get the candles I wanted to buy that trip. I really wanted to believe it was just a disgruntled employee having a bad day. After I left I called to find out the name of the employee with the intentions of sending an email to the owner/operator and inform them of the negative attitudes representing their business. I was appalled to find out that the woman who was rude and nasty was in fact THE OWNER! This experience totally ruined this place for me. I had been coming here for years, but after meeting the owner and seeing the complete disregard for the basic principles of customer appreciation I am now on a quest to find another good candle shop. :-( read more

This place is a great reason why Midland is so unique. My BFF Roxanie and I have been going here for years! I even lived in Lubbock and now in Denton however still make it up to The Candle Cafe every chance I get. There candles are the best around, the little "gifts" are so unique that you cannot find them anywhere! Who sits for 2 hours and chit chats with the owner and the girls?!?! That's right, we do! These candles burn a loooooong time! There are so many scents to choose from, there is something for everyone. Only problem is I have a hard time picking just one! Luckily you get a discount on a three pack ($33) when a single is $12. The store space is a little small but that's ok! They also sell gifts and wax bars for warmers all at excellent prices! read more

LOVE this place. My sister has been coming for years and boasting about how great it is. I went with her today and immediately wanted to buy everything. It's so hard to chose which ones you like most. My favorite part are the names they choose for the candles for example Mr. Right, Butt Naked, and my favorite Stuffy Noses. The customer service is spectacular not only are they knowledgeable in everything candle, such as properly taking care of it so it will last you longer, but they are so nice that they make you feel like if your chatting with a friend. The decoration in there will not bore at all and will have you looking around constantly while smelling candles. The great part is that they ship out orders. I'm unsure as whether you can order online because I heard the lady say that the website just came up but if you call in an order they can ship it to you which is great cause I don't live in the Midland/ Odessa area anymore. I can not brag enough about this place. Simply amazing with so much to offer, definitely needs more reviews on here. read more

Very rude customer service and not a lot of candles that aren't unique or very fragrant, and it is also not a very good sign when the owner writes five star reviews of her own business I know nobody in the basin who would give that wreck of poorly trained staff, plus flawed merchandise a higher rank over 2 stars. I love to support local businesses, but unfortunately will not return to this one. They do not allow any exchanges on candles. So, if you go home and burn the candle ONCE and it isn't very strong or smells different when burned...you CANNOT exchange it. I would rather go to Bath and Body Works and buy plug ins (they actually let you bring back scents you don't like to exchange for new ones.) read more

The lady that helped me was rude! The moment I walked in, I immediately felt unwelcomed as she didn't even greet me. I walked in wanting fall scented candles and told her I don't really like "spicy" scents. She replied "all our fall scents are spicy" with an attitude. I told her I still wanted to smell them and if they had anything "warm" for the fall. She replied with a shrug and said "no, not really." So I walked out without buying anything or even smelling anything they had to offer. read more
