I can't say enough about this place. In town randomly and needed a meal before heading back to Iowa City. A local recommended it to me and I found one of the most eclectic menus I've seen in a while. German themed restaurant with a brewery. The beer was delicious. They are kind with samples. The food is over the top. The stand outs were the bacon wrapped cheese curds and one of the best soups I've ever had - Drunken Potato with beer cheese base. Wow. Excellent service from Lilly behind the bar. As a solo diner it was a perfect experience. Side note - they also have event space upstairs and video arcade stuff. We really enjoy our time at The Busted Cup whenever we come by! We've stopped by for drinks and also for lunch on a Sunday. Both times have been great. They specialize in German cuisine (think brats, cheesy potatoes, pretzels, and sauerkraut), German Beers, but they also make killer cocktails! I love their spicy watermelon margarita and my friends really like the Dragonfly cocktail. Service is great - their hosts, bartenders and servers are all super friendly, and the ambiance is laid back, chill, with a ton of big screen TVs for sports lovers. We had a really fun time having lunch here. We were greeted immediately upon entering by a very friendly girl. We picked a high top table that had a built in screen in the tabletop with multiple games you could play. Our waitress immediately came over with menus and water. Menu had multiple options for everyone and plenty of gluten free options and substitutes. Beet flights are available along with a large alcohol menu, including in house brews. Food was delicious. Beer flight was amazing. Restaurant was very clean, as were the bathrooms. Highly recommend! read more

Amazing food! The Brussels sprouts were supurb, and the chicken and dumpling soup was the best I have ever had. Did not have to wait long for it either. I'm not a beer drinker, but I'm sure they make really good stuff. The whole place is just really cool. You can buy cold meats, cheeses, and sweet treats as well as a plethora of novelties. You really just have to see it for yourself. I really hope it lasts. I know it's been tough for restaurants to make it around here. The Busted Cup has my support! read more

Been there several times and had good experience the first few times however the last 2 times weren't so good. Originally several in our party ordered the Rueben sandwich which they enjoyed. Last week my wife ordered the Rueben and the meat was so tough she couldn't chew it! And just today while talking to a friend who had gone there last night he related the same problem with the Rueben! read more

We sat at a fun table with many games playing Life and Connect 4 while waiting for our yummy sausages, fried bacon wrapped cheese, warm German potato salad, pretzels, and a roast beef sandwich. Since COVID I really dislike dining out. I typically leave a restaurant, feeling like I have overpaid for something I could made better at home. I don't mind paying inflation prices if the quality and flavor align. This is rare. Then comes the Busted Cup to remedy the situation, first of all, not overpriced, I've paid way more for food with lower quality - the food was absolutely delicious. Presentation was on point! As for recommendations, the pork shank was fantastic. We had two beers: the Dunkels and Festbier - absolutely delicious. Well made and certainly do not fall prey to the lack of craft in many new breweries. Service was as outstanding as the setting and ambiance! Our server and bartender met the perfect balance of attentiveness, friendliness, and space. I can't recommend this place enough! read more

I have eaten here twice. I think the atmosphere is awesome. Had excellent service the 1st time, mediocre the second. The food was good, sides are ala carte. Prices are geared to the higher side. I think it is a great place to take guests (it def has a well thought out interior design) but I don't see myself as a regular. Portions both times were generous. read more

It's not just the craft beer! It's thee curated cocktails with botanical smoke and quirky combinations that work deliciously with the gourmet yet grounded food! We had the sausage flight and a few cocktails then returned the next day for pasta and salads and Black Forest desert. Amazing sports tvs, shuffle board, great service and quality ingredients. What a great space! Filled with hearty food, great service and a delightful after-meal market to browse. You'll have to come over & over again to try all the delicious menu options. The food has okay flavor, the waitress was miserable and very put off. The atmosphere is really cool. However, the warm German potato salad was mediocre and tasted like it was made days ago. (Very Americanized) Pretty sure most of the food was prepared via microwave. The schnitzel was tough and fat (they don't beat their meats) pardon the pun. The wait staff (upstairs) sucks, the dude at the first level host was legit. Overall, it is a business that will exist for the season. Pretty sure it'll be out like yesterdays trash. Don't get it ,unless you ask if it's made today. I didn't drink any beer, so I cannot give a breakdown. Service sucks Food is meh Atmosphere is legit Wait staff ought be fired. They suck! I was so impressed with the food, service and beautiful interior at The Busted Cup! My friend and I had mixed drinks, the potato soup (the best I've ever had) the sausage flight, German potato salad and Brussels sprouts. We then shared two desserts: the pumpkin spice cake and Dutch baby with berries. Both were exceptional. Our server was friendly and on top of everything. The atmosphere is such a sweet spot between casual and formal...I felt very comfortable. I loved getting to try the unique German inspired dishes. I will definitely return! read more

Wait staff at the downstairs bar is horrible. We have been there a few times between 3pm and 5 pm. Not even during the busy time of the day. However the wait staff stands at the end of the bar to chat rather than follow up with customers. Once I had to walk to the bar so I could ask our waitress for another drink. Another time we had a friend join us after we had been there a while and no one ever came to take her drink order. We moved on.
