Meh. I wanted to rate it 2 stars but during writing I just could not give them any credit for the bad food they served. Short summary in case you want to skip the full text: bad fries, bad sauce, bad bun, weird squishy burger, lame toppings. Go to Mel' s Diner in the 1st instead.
So, here goes the full text.
I have been trying out some burger places in Vienna and when I saw the mouth watering pictures of the classic burger on the BB facebook page, I just had to try it after a long day of working. SPOILER: I think they hired the same Photoshop guy from known fast food chains to put those burger pictures online.
BUN
The bun looked like a McDonalds bun, as in: a big disappointment. Complete flat, limp and unappealing. Unfortunately looks were no different from taste.
And even worse, it had this typical sweet aftertase you get with breakfast buns.
MEAT
The meat was rather flat with an unpleasant soggy biting experience. I was told that the German/Austrian style of burgers is usually more on the squishy than dry side, but I have already eaten way better burger meat in German speaking countries to know this was not the norm. I also wonder how many people are fooled by the 120grams mentioned on the menu.
Not even close.
TOPPINGS
According to the menu, the added ingredients were pickle, caramelized onion and tomato.
You would think it is nearly impossible to screw this up, right? However, they did and I wanna talk tomato. Because it was such a poor production of a tiny but relevant basic element, and it is literally the easiest thing ever. But BB cannot achieve that level.
I wish I was being sarcastic.
FRIES
+: not your typical, still-white kebap fries aka they looked golden brown and appealing.
-: soaked in oil, no flavour. This was a clear case of potatoes being drowned in oil rather than boiled due to too low temperatures of frying oil.
EXTRA SAUCES
Cocktail sauce: I refuse to believe this is home made and I cannot believe I payed 1€ for it. I am a dumbass.
Mayonaise: the hell is this, salad dressing?
Get real, BB, if you claim to be a burgerbar, up your standards and actually serve burgers. read more
