I went with high hopes based on others reviews but if this is Vienna's best hamburger I am in trouble. :( This is not an American style hamburger. If you are expecting a 5 Guys or Fuddruckers quality burger, keep looking. As an American who knows hamburgers I was disappointed. The meat was fine and cooked well it was everything else about the burger that was a disappointment. The main problem I had was the burger being served on an thin 'English Muffin' style bun. English muffins are for Egg McMuffins at Micky D's. A hamburger needs to be on a large soft bun or Kaiser bun. Next it came with mayonnaise and ketchup which was not listed on the menu, and I would have left them both off if I was aware they came with the burger. The Chili sauce I ordered with the burger was not spicy as expected, and I chose not to put it on my burger. But my biggest disappointment was paying 4.70e for a 'Vanilla Shake' that was milk with 1 scoop of ice cream run trough a blender. I am not kidding when I say this was the worst milk shake I have ever had. I payed 4.70 for 400ml of milk that had an almond aftertaste to it. Will I return, no but your experience may be different.

Perfect burger! And tasty beer!!! If you love burgers - this place for you! Good service and location

Medium farmers burger with wedges on Monday night.

This is a great burger place near Swedenplatz, so it's very easy to get there. We went there on a Monday evening due to many other places being closed. Because of the nice and warm weather we were able to sit outside on the terrace in front of the restaurant. The menu offers a variety of food and drinks. Vegetarians as well as meat lovers should find something nice to enjoy. There is a reasonable selection of burger, most of them can be ordered in two to three different sizes. Depending on the size (small, medium, large) you get some extra Pommes/wedges, a homemade sauce and a salad with your burger. As you order, the waitress will ask you to decide between three different types of buns (white, brown or sesame) - all of them looked tasty. I should mention that you will be asked how you want to have your meat patty cooked. My partner went for a sesame cheeseburger with the whisky sauce, I chose the farmers burger on a brown bun with some guacamole. We both ordered a medium burger with wedges. Our food was served shortly after the drinks arrived. The wedges were very crispy and well-flavoured, but it was a rather big portion. I really liked how juicy the medium-cooked meat was. Just as I want it to be. I am not entirely sure what happened with the salad, but there was some sort of flavour with it which wouldn't fit 100%. That's why I left the salad to one side. My partner had no problem with it. There are seven tables on the terrace and at all of them there were people happily eating their meals. You might smoke on the terrace as well as in a seperated room inside. Because of the filled terrace the waitress seemed to be in a slight rush. Once every table was dealt with she clearly calmed down. Despite the facts of her being on her own the whole time, she was very friendly to all customers. Definitely I would recommend this location to everyone who wants to enjoy a good quality burger for a fair price.

Smokey's was indeed very smokey inside. I did not see any non smoking area, but i also did not look, so maybe there is a place for me there. I did not eat anything this time, but i am told they have the best burgers in Vienna, so i will need to go back and try them. They also have outside seating, but i fear it would be very loud on the very busy street. But it seems to be a nice place and i look forward to having a great burger and much less smoke.

On the other side of the Schwedenplatz across the Danube you'll find a surprisingly nice burger place! Thanks to gigantic windows you'll have a nice view over the Danube :) If you don't get the chance to sit in front of the window don't worry, the decor on the walls are nice and fun! As for the food: you won't be disappointed :) The burgers are delicious, with quite a large selection of ingredients combinations! The meat was perfectly cooked and tasty. They are served with pommes or wedge potatoes and/or salad and you can have wholegrain bread if you choose too, which will make the meal quite healthy if you choose too! As for the salad: the big size is indeed big, served with toasted bred and enough meat to file you up :) It was exactly what I was hoping for that night. Plus the staff was very friendly and made us feel even more at ease in this sympathetic local. The only minus point of this great place is that they don't have any non smoking area. It wasn't that annoying when we were sitting there but we did smell of cigarettes when we left!

Very good. Burgers almost too thick to eat but grilled perfectly! Very friendly service.

While staying at the Le Meridien, I wandered into the hotel's bar and asked for a Sazerac, and the bartender got a wistful look and smile and said that he didn't have all the makings of it, but he knew where I could go to find a true cocktail lounge. I wandered in on a cold and rainy night, and sat down at the bar. I asked the bartender if he had absinthe for a Sazerac, and told him about Silver Bar and Keita. He had a chuckle, and said that he knew Keita and respected his opinion, but that he made all the classics. As there were only a few other patrons, we had a chance to speak at length, and I soon learned that the bartender was actually Gerhard, the owner. For nearly 24 years, Gerhard has run this small temple to mixology, and he has stocked it with the finest of what the world has to offer. In particular the rums and whisk(e)ys span the world and the decades, with vintages I've never seen before (like a 25-year old Edmund Dantes Havana Club). In terms of variety, Nightfly's is maybe second only to The Brandy Library in New York City, but in a much more intimate environment. The space is dark and feels like you're walking into someone's den or study. The bar itself is underground, and the staircase leading you in is lined with boxes and bottles of glorious spirits that have been enjoyed by prior guests. The main seating area will be right in front of you, with small tables perfect for couples or small groups. To the right is the small bar, with room enough for 6 or so, and just past the bar is a sealed non-smoking room. Yup - Nightfly's is smoker-friendly, and you can either bring your own cigarettes, cigars, vape, or select from Gerhard's great stock of cigars for sale. If you sit at the bar, you can enjoy both Gerhard's company as well as watch the man at work. Each drink is made precisely, and will be mixed while the glass in which it is served is cooled down with ice cubes that are carefully drained so that you're never getting excess water in your cocktail. After each drink is made, Gerhard hands his tools off to his talented apprentice, who serves as both waiter in the main room as well as barback. Each shaker, blender, and stirrer is cleaned within minutes of being used behind the bar, and prepared for the next round. It's fast, efficient, and a marvel to watch. In my few days in Vienna, I managed to make it here twice regretting only that it could not be more. If you only have one evening for a well-made cocktail or top-shelf whisk(e)y or rum, Nightfly's is where you should go. If you actually live in Vienna, well then I can only congratulate you for being so fortunate as to come here whenever you wish. I wish Gerhard many more years behind the bar, and look forward to enjoying his craft again next time I'm in Vienna.

The Loos Bar was designed by famous Viennese architect and design Adolf Loos in 1908. It's 290 square feet of onyx, marble, and mahogany. It really is an incredible space. (They do have outdoor seating but if it's your first visit to the Loos Bar, you want to sit inside - it's part of the experience.) It's a cocktail bar, so my friend and I each ordered a cocktail according to our preferences from the menu - which is huge. My friend had a cocktail made with mezcal, and I had the Adolf Loos Spritzer (champagne, soda, strawberries, and mint). We both enjoyed our cocktails. Mine was exactly what I wanted on a warm afternoon day - refreshing and light. We went in the early afternoon, because I worried that this tiny little bar would get packed if we went at a more traditional hour for cocktails. It was pretty empty when we arrived and sat inside. So that's what's great about the Loos Bar - the design, the style, the drinks, the history. What's not so great? The service wasn't great, pretty unfriendly/unwelcoming (our bartender seemed almost offended we'd bothered him by ordering a drink). And they have a dress code - no flip flops, backpacks, or shorts (although "elegant shorts are welcome outdoors"). The dress code is reasonable, I suppose, and I probably wouldn't have minded if it weren't for the poor service. Despite this bad service, I can't give the Loos Bar any less than four stars, because it was one of the coolest bars I've ever visited: an amazing, historic space and some great cocktails, too.
