This place is legit. Everyone comes here to eat and definitely drink. You can sit and watch the beach. Or the people waking by. Sit outside or inside. The atmosphere here is great. They have out door couches to lounge on. Chairs and tables to sit and eat. You can easily sit and relax away a good couple of hours here. My friends and I got here after we had left our luggage at our rental. And sat here what it seems like a week. We sat down and had a bite to eat. The fish and chips. They are amazing. We found this beer called Summer. And it was $25 Aussie for a bucket. Not bad. We hung out for about an hour. Then we decided to hit the water. So we decided to ask where we could get sunblock. And they brought over Carla. She was our savior. The sun is very hot here. We hit the water and came back after a little sun cooking. We stepped up our buckets. We stayed there until we left. Day 2 we did a lot of the same. We kept a ritual of just stopping by and having a bite and beers. The weekend is off the hook. Very busy. All day and all night. But they close at 12. Everyone and anyone is there. People celebrating the weekend to people out for bachelorette parties. Also birthday parties to small wedding reception. On Monday Feb. 12,2018 we were there just enjoying a bite and a couple beers. We weren't going to stay long. It wasn't too busy. Which was nice after the weekend. Then all of a sudden. All these well nicely dressed people started to show up. We new it was some type of party. But not for who or what. Girls/ Ladies dressed to impress. And impressed we were. Guys somewhat dresss nice also. Some better than others. And all of a sudden 3 guys in these bright loud jump suits. We were like huh? Then they decided to get on the microphone. Just being. Loud. It was my turn to get a pitcher of the passion fruit mojito. Which is really good. Don't judge. But when in Aussie. Drink like the Aussies. I asked one of the guys in the suits. What's up with suits. He said. Trying to get attention. They were going to have a fundraiser for Brain Cancer Awareness. I told him. He was doing a great thing. Not knowing that lot of the people there were celebrities. It's not like we watch Aussie tv everyday. Ok we did while on vacation. But still. How are we to spot tv actors and movie star actors. Then they sent out their ladies to sell raffle tickets. It was Bianca Zouppas. And another great looking actress. Sorry didn't get her name. But if you know who she is. Go ahead and let us know. Anyways. How could we say no to them. We weren't going to. It's a good cause. But they did get us to buy more tickets. We also got into the fun of the auction. I ended up winning a bat. For only $300. And after mingling with everyone. It was a great night. This place gave up their inside area for an event that raised some good money. This place has a staff that is not only great looking. But have the best attitude I've been to in years. Probably the best in all the world. Guys and girls. Both treated us with great respect and were always professionals. Staff was fun and always helpful. If you ever visit Bondi Beach. Stop by and try their Mojitos and their food. And the people watching is very good also. So Mates don't wait. Or you might have to stand in line in the sun. read more

This place is a nice hangout spot on Bondi Beach. Lots of people come here so your sure to make friends if your social. We went on Sunday which is a super busy time as tourist and locals come out to enjoy a fun day before the work week. They have a DJ that plays music which adds to the fun of the place. The food is great (love the fish tacos) but the drinks SUCK! Not strong at all! I suggest getting beer or wine because the mixed drinks are pathetic. Overall - reasonable prices for large portions, my "poke bowl" was delicious if not exactly a poke bowl, and the view and the ambiance can't be beat. Admittedly, the residual warm glow of being at Bondi probably biases this review, but hey, if you go to Bondi and The Bucket List you'll be experiencing that same kind of happiness that is all rose colored glasses too! Food - a few more fresh, light options than the other restaurants in the area. Very generous portions - I couldn't finish my bowl despite surfing for two hours beforehand. They also have things like fish 'n chips and fried chicken if that is more your style. Drinks - cocktails, beer, beer buckets - they know how to do it at The Bucket List. They know their audience, and it's the kind of place that begs you to sit and enjoy a fruity cocktail or a cold beer while gazing out on the turquoise wonder that is Bondi beach. Ambiance - I've alluded to it before - this place is all about the beach vibe and the view. Outdoor space drenched in sun as well as shaded areas. You can post up at the raised banquette area and people watch in the foreground or gaze at the beach and water in the background. It's a very popular, busy place, but I didn't feel rushed, and if I hadn't wanted to get in another surf session, I definitely could have hung out there, sipping a cocktail or iced tea for the afternoon. Prices - eh, maybe a little pricey, especially if the US dollar is stronger. At $.75 US to 1 AUS, my poke bowl was about $22 USD, but it was huge, had a lot of salmon, and I recognize I was also paying for location and the view. Plus, you don't have to tip in Australia, so it wasn't far off from SF prices for something similar. Service - efficient, friendly, and laid back. Perfect for a beachy restaurant location. read more

Pop-up bars are still aces, and will be for a while yet. (At least until slinkies make a triumphant comeback sometime in 2013). The Bucket List is drenched in casual cool - milk crates, low-slung couches, bench chairs with cardboard cushions, and prime people-watching position smack bang in the middle of the world's most famous stretch a' sand. The wait staff team indie-hipster-fashion-stylings with surprisingly likable attitudes, they're remarkably down to earth and people I'd actually want to be friends with. I know - amazing, right? Plus, when I was there they were playing Weezer's "Blue Album" at high volume, which was unutterably, unimaginably RADICAL. It's like they knew exactly what to do to impress the panties off me . . . once the DJ dropped "Say It Ain't So" I supplicated myself in front of the wheels of steel and engaged in a bit of wholly justified venue worship. To be honest, I had my heart set on some cheap take away fish and chips but was out for lunch with my mum and this place caught her eye. So... Off to a grumpy start for me. On top of that I was really craving a chocolate shake only to be told they don't sell them. (The barman did point out a cafe two shops down that had the same owner so I could have brought one back in with me). My mum ordered the pulled pork burger and to my disgust... Brussels sprouts! Much to my surprise it was delicious with a hummus base, chilli and crunchy chickpeas. My fish burger with chips, at $23, was expensive but I rationalized that to the location; what others have coined 'The Bondi Beach tax'. The burger was amazing though and easily outdid other fish burgers I've had. Real fish; a thick fillet with creamy coleslaw and tartare. The chips were crunchy and salty and the cup of tomato sauce was a playful touch. Getting in earlier for lunch made the place appear unpopular but wasn't long before tables filled and a crowd formed waiting to order. We also spotted whales from our table inside. Been here a few times and its consistently a great spot to hang out and chill on a lazy Sunday afternoon in Bondi. For some reason I'm always here on Sundays. The staff are always friendly, no table service -- you go up and order your food and drinks. The crowd is the typical impossibly beautiful, cool Bondi Beach set. The music is always great. Perfect spot to sit on a crate (literally) and people watch with a drink - its right on the pavilion, where that seafood restaurant used to be, was it called Nick's or something? It's all about the pitchers of sangria, the wine barrel outdoor tables and the people watching along the Bondi promenade. All the other star-giving factors seem to fade away as these three things are so excellent, it's tough to focus on much else. If we're being picky, the venue is cavernous yet seemingly always crowded with the type of people you've been running from since high school and it perhaps leans a wee bit too hard on the casual beach-chic stylings. But refer to the three aforementioned items and try and rate this less than 4-stars. You see, as someone normally on the sweaty side of this argument, even I can admit that there are few things more satisfying than watching smug fitness buffs tirelessly working out, mock-disdainfully judging your plate of greasy fish 'n' chips, while trying to hide the bits of drool and jealousy dripping down their chins. Both parties know who has come out on top in this particular situation. So get here and enjoy it. read more

This venue was very nice. I headed there with a few of my friends who lived in the eastern suburbs of Sydney where we tried some of the food. The mussels were fresh, the zuchini was delicious and if you think chips are boring, give these a go you will most certainly be suprised. I showed up for sunset there - the venue had organised live entertainment and was extremely family friendly. Beautiful surrounds, good food, great wine selection. There's something about the Bucket List that exhausts me just at the thought of it. It's a great space (on a summer's day, you really can't beat it) and there's nothing really "wrong" with anything in the bar... I've actually enjoyed myself every time I've been there (which is often... I live 500m away)... but something keeps it from being a favourite. Maybe it's the fact that this bar is located so close to the beach, yet embodies so little about genuine beach culture? Why are there never people there with salt and sand on them? Why are all the girls wearing so much make-up? What's the deal with all that Mexican/Mediterranean influence... this is Bondi.... Surely an icon with a pretty amazing culture of its own? Why is everyone so boringly aware of being seen? Can't we just relax at the beach, grab a few drinks and enjoy the sunshine? Maybe I'm being too hard on this place? The drinks are great, albeit not cheap (highly recommend the White Sangria), the food is fresh and delicious, staff are friendly and it's a really nice place to hang out with a group of friends laughing/drinking the day away... but if you're looking to chill out after a day at the beach or a dip in the ocean, I'd probably keep walking up to the RSL. If you're looking for a less-casual experience in a more fashionable setting, the Bucket List is the place to be. By no means a "bad" bar... just not a favourite for me. read more

It's kind of hard not to hit up The Bucket List, as it's one of the main spots right in front of the beach! You really can't miss it, it was the only bar scene that we could see in the vicinity. Had a couple of jugs to share (most economically efficient), everything was delicious. We weren't really interested in eating, but the fish n' chips looked tasty. It's a great spot for people watching, they offer heaters and blankets on the cold/windier afternoons. I came here for lunch after doing the Coogee - Bondi walk and checking out Festival of the Winds. It was packed out but after perching on milk crates for a moment or two we managed to score a table right on the beach side. I ordered the crispy polenta with goats cheese from the main meal list and a glass of sav blanc. It was very tasty and just what I needed after the walk. The rest of my crew were very happy too...cider on tap, salmon and fish and chips all got rave reviews. The atmosphere of this place was great. Whilst it was very busy it maintained a cool vibe and the staff never looked too stressed. I'd definitely come back again. Location, location, location - The Bucket List has all of those things. Unfortunately, the social media hand doesn't seem to communicate with the physical restaurant hand. We came here for Aus Day as I had been wanting to check it out, and that seemed like prime time. In the week leading up to our booking, I saw promises on their Facebook page of Triple J's Hottest 100 and Drink Specials all day to celebrate. Neither of those things emerged. No drink specials to be seen, and when I asked the barkeep about Triple J, I got a shrug and an "oh, I know nothing about that". That dispassionate response was roughly on par with the feeling I got from the rest of the staff. There was the server who plunked down her utensil tray in the middle of our table to fill up the communal utensil bucket - grabbing the forks and knives by the "business end". And the unsmiling runners pushing through to grab an empty glass. Everyone just seemed completely disinterested. Personal let downs aside, once you factor in the "Bondi tax", the prices are what you'd expect (my crab club was $27), and the food was fine - nothing outstanding. They've got an eyebrow-raising selection of imported beers, including negro modella for $9. Draught beer was roughly $8-9/schooner. I can't say how much exactly as I consumed many a White Rabbit Belgian Pale Ale during my 6 hour stay, and didn't receive the same change more than twice. For a beachside drinking venue, The Bucket List is perfect, but for me it doesn't rise to anything beyond that. read more

I called and made a booking 7 days in advance for my birthday celebrations.The restaurant rang to confirm on the day of my booking for the 'Fish Bowl' section of the restaurant which overlooks the beach. When we turned up for dinner we were told that there was no record of my booking and were sat right near the noisy kitchen, we asked if they could check if there was another table available, we were moved and then moved again. After we were seated at our third table we were ready to order and sat there for 20 mins waiting for our orders to be taken, before someone came up to us and told us we were to order at the bar. The food wasn't too bad, probably over priced but was tasty. Overall I'm very disappointed with this establishment, we didn't feel welcomed by staff, the atmosphere was awful and they lost my booking. Great location but I wouldn't recommend it. read more

A new year, a new me. OR SO I THOUGHT!!! We traveled for 10 days on a sydney bus to get from the city to the far end of Bondi Beach to sample the delights of The Bucket List in the middle of the British suburb of Bondi. Starving from our travels, we decided to soak our troubles with ice-cold beer (delicious and served in glasses as is the tradition), and order some "bar snacks" to share. The fries were - as we were delighted to find - fried potatoes and served with a whisper of aioli (almost enough for half the serving of chips! Dickensian generosity at its best. Please sir, may I have some more?) Our horror began with the $9 sweet potato chips. Or should I say chip. As the Paleo diet takes off in popularity with your worst friends, it would seem kumera chips too have become a common staple of posh pub snacks for wankers. What 'The Bucket List' fails to mention on their scant menu description is that the serving size for these chips is based on the dietary requirements of a single mouse. I'm not talking about a friendly Disney mouse either, with a cheeky unending appetite only satiated by Cinderella's kindness. Nay, I mean a mouse laying lifeless in a trap, its corpse twitching as, with its last gasps of air, it reaches for the two - mayhap three - slices of flaccid, wet squash covered with a pubic dusting of sweating, shredded cheese. The local among us, a British born and bred in Bondi, swore this was not the norm. Nay $9 elsewhere in the Irish shire of Bondi can catch an entire bushel of fish or a twelve Scottish locals! Nice athmosphere and music will go with the hype surrounding place. However the foods fell a bit short of taste and choices.
