I also prefer Lay Bare's cold wax over the usual hot wax that the other spas use. I have sensitive skin so there's no burning sensation and it doesn't get irritated with the caramel-like substance that they use. I especially like it when I have my lower legs waxed because I feel like my calves are getting some well-deserved pampering. It feels more like a light massage and less like a waxing session. Every one in the staff is nice, but I always request for Ms. Vicky. We both lived in Abu Dhabi at one point in our lives so we like talking about the place during our waxing sessions. She's very friendly and she does a good job at making the awkward moments (for waxing those private areas) less awkward and the pain more tolerable.

In fact, I don't care much about beauty and grooming regimens, that's why my list of Yelp reviews don't include much of these places, aside from the barber shops that I usually frequent. Given that I don't really preen much, I surprised myself one time by letting my best friend talk me into trying out an eyebrow threading. Though most of my friends say that they like my thick and bushy eyebrows, they can sometimes get out of control and that time, I agreed that I needed to do something about my unibrow. She booked a waxing session, and hooked me up with her favorite eyebrow stylist at this Lay Bare branch. I should say that I have never tried any eyebrow treatments before, and nothing, and I mean NOTHING prepared me for the sheer torture and pain of getting my eyebrows threaded. I'd rather get another tattoo than go through that pain again. It is an intense hybrid of wanting to pee so bad, and having the skin peeled off from my forehead. My eyebrows definitely looked neater, but it felt so raw and painful despite the ate giving me lots of chances to catch my breath. She was very gentle, and she tried very hard not to laugh and take my curses personally. I was a screaming and yelping baby, and I seriously don't understand how girls can put themselves into that kind of pain. Tiis ganda? No, thanks. I'd rather stay ugly. Still, not a lot of guys could say that they have had their eyebrows threaded at some point. I'm not a particularly hairy person, and I'm glad it takes forever for my unibrow to grow. I actually resorted to just shaving it off with a razor.

SM SOUTHMALL BRANCH Feb 10, 2025 (Around 3pm)…read more I had an extremely terrible experience here. I naturally have thick, bushy eyebrows similar to Brooke Shields or Andrea Brillantes, and after a waxing accident when i was 20 that removed almost half my brows, I had to get them microbladed because I didn't have the patience to wait for it to grow and it became a huge insecurity for me. Since then, I've avoided waxing and only go for threading. When I came in, I specifically told the staff to only tidy my brows a bit and made it very clear that I didn't want the inner part cut or the overall shape changed. I wanted to keep my natural 'Nike arch' shape, which all my siblings and I have because of our parents. I also warned her not to touch the length, especially since my eyebrows tend to look uneven when the inner part is tidied to much since they don't always get it equal. Instead of acknowledging my request, she seemed annoyed and sarcastically responded, 'Oo, tidy ka lang naman diba,' implying that my instructions were unnecessary. Despite this, I trusted her to follow what I asked. Instead, she did the exact opposite. She didn't even bother brushing my brows before cutting, and the entire session lasted only 2-3 minutes. She cut my left outer brow extremely short and the right one slightly longer, but still too short. The shape is completely ruined and uneven. To make matters worse, she didn't show any sign of regret or apology for the result. It felt rushed and careless, with no effort put into ensuring they looked neat or symmetrical. I'm extremely disappointed, especially given how much i trusted Brow Lounge to take care of my eyebrows and I never tried other salons to avoid this exact outcome but it still happened.

Hey ladies, if, like me, you find a hard time having to make a U-turn almost at the end of…read moreKatipunan Avenue just to get to Laybare for a wax, your problems have been solved! Hey Sugar! is a newly opened Waxing Salon at the ground floor of UP Town Center's mall that offers not only waxing services for both men and women, but also threading and eyelash extension. Although more expensive than the more popular waxing salon at the other side of Katipunan Avenue, the experience was definitely better. I availed of a hot waxing service for my legs because they had a 30% off on Hot Wax Services promo and I read somewhere that hot waxing is a better though more expensive option than cold waxing. I was reluctant to try hot wax at first, but my waxer was very reassuring. She even adjusted the heat level of my wax when I found it too hot at first application. After a while, I got the hang of it. My waxer was nice and courteous, and normally I don't like conversing while I'm getting waxed, but I loved speaking with her. The only regret I have was that I neglected to ask her for her name. When I go back, I'll find out for sure! As for the waxing service, you really have to set aside time when getting a wax. If you're looking for quick service, better try cold wax or cheaper waxing salons because Hey Sugar! values quality. My wax was 30 minutes long because my waxer made sure not a single strand of hair was left on my legs (I availed of the half-leg service). She even applied cold wax after the hot wax for the stubborn strands, and afterwards, a threading technique to take out the really tiny strands. I also love how it's All-Natural and All-Organic sugar wax that they use. Hooray for sustainable living!

The one who manages their Instagram page said they'll conduct an investigation. Took days before they responded, btw. When I followed up, they just told me to call the branch directly. Wow.

I did some waxing salon research and the one that called out to me the best was Lay Bare. They use natural ingredients - cold sugar wax, so it's safe for all skin types. Jazz Mall is my preferred branch because there's fewer people and I like the staff and service there the best. Anne, the girl who waxed me was super nice & friendly and made me feel totally at ease as she guided me though the smarts of pulling. They're hygienic, reasonably priced and they also sell their own cream to soothe your raw skin. I always try to go when I have extra cash, especially if it's summer. I suggest doing some research first before visiting but mostly likely you'll see all the information, reminders and tips you need on their website. It's also advisable to reserve instead of being a walk-in so you don't have to wait. I either call the salon or reserve on the site. :)

Their staff is very efficient, professional and friendly. The waxing rooms are clean with dim lights and you hear the running water sounds from the fountain nearby. The vibe just makes me feel comfortable and relaxed for any service. For some reason, it also makes me happy whenever the attendant tells me that I have a high tolerance for pain while hearing other girls shriek in other rooms. (LOL!) Another factor why I like it here, I really appreciate that they go over the waxed areas with tweezers to get...everything! Too much information? For me, if I'm going through all that pain, it better be worth it! Tip: take a pain reliever 30 minutes before your session. I've tried almost every nail spa in the area as there are several, but BeesWax is hands down my favorite one. It first opened in 2012, and I've been frequenting the place at least on a monthly basis since then. What caught my eye was their "organic" theme -- from their hot and cold waxes to their Zoya nail polish -- none of these contain harmful chemicals. I liked the sound of that. This place also offers threading services. I've become friendly with the receptionist/manager (hi Jel!) and the therapists are always kind and pleasant. Yellow and black decor in line with their "bee" theme; the chairs are comfortable and I leave a happy and relaxed customer each and every time. Love you BeesWax!
