From the moment I tried to provide the official court documents proving my mother is my grandmother's legal medical guardian, Carmen blocked us at every step. I handed her the court papers myself, yet Carmen refused to acknowledge them and demanded "original documents," a requirement that does not exist under New Jersey guardianship law. Carmen continues to treat my uncle as the authority, even though he is not the medical guardian. This is a serious breach of protocol and raises questions about what unauthorized paperwork Carmen is relying on. During my Mother's Day visit, my grandmother's hearing aids were not in -- again. When staff finally put "hers" in, they were broken and not even her pair. A staff member admitted they only let her hear when my uncle is present, and Carmen allows this abusive restriction. Denying a resident the ability to hear unless a specific family member is present violates the New Jersey Nursing Home Residents' Bill of Rights and deprives her of basic communication. er hair and facial hair were unkempt, and when I offered to cut her hair -- something she has always allowed -- Carmen's staff refused and treated me with hostility. Their priority was keeping me away, not caring for her. Even after sending the court documents again, Carmen still refused to acknowledge the legal guardian and continued blocking access.

He spent most of his life living at home, but when he required more care we looked around for a place that could take care of his needs. Sadly, the place we picked was unable to take care of him after just 4 months, because of aggressive behaviors that are actually not atypical in the disease process. After 2 traumatic hospitalization in psych facilities (which are just not equipped for this population), we found Arden Courts of Wayne. It was such an unbelievable find!!! From the moment that we contacted them they showed so much care, respect and compassion not only for my dad but for my mother and the rest of our family as well. The staff took the time to get to know us- and although they were not fortunate enough to meet my "real" dad, they made sure to ask about who he was and offered him the best possible care. Staff at Arden Court are superb, from the top down (or from the bottom up??). The aides that take care of the daily needs of the residents really seem to love what they do, and they do it well. They also seem to get the respect and support from the "higher-ups" including nurses, director of nursing, etc. My dad was always well-dressed and clean-shaven- 2 things that were very important to my mom. When he started to refuse to eat, they made natural adjustments to his diet and took the time to find the foods he liked and tried to coax him (in such a nurturing way!) to eat. My dad was unable to participate in the regular activity programming at the nursing home, since it was too over stimulating for him. However, he participated in a daily program in a darkened room, with soft music and massage- which was just perfect for him. Sadly, my dad died just 6 weeks after entering Arden Courts of Wayne. But to the last moment, our family could not be more sure that he was in the right place. We were all taken care of to his last day (and even afterwards when we returned to clean out his room). I would not hesitate for an instant when making the difficult decision of placing someone you deeply care for under the care of the staff at Arden Courts of Wayne.

Also this Rehab did NOT give my mom a shower Mondays and Thursday even after complaining night after night!!!! "IF" I did NOT complain to the RN in person, this Rehab would NOT have given my mom one, UNACCEPTABLE!!! You need to provide your own camera!
