Best of all they served it in a cardboard fish & chip box so the batter remained crispy. Many chip shops use polystyrene containers and by the time you get them home the fish is soggy. The seating is unique, you can either be conventional and eat in the restaurant or eat in the bus. Yes this must be only place I've ever been to where you can eat in a bus. Family owned and it shows, it really is a gem. Only downside is parking can get a little tight but nothing can detract from this wonderful place.

Being boring we decided to eat inside the plaice (see what I did there?) and we both opted for the same food namely jumbo haddock,chips and mushy peas,or to give it's real name,food of the mythical sky beings.... Large haddock said the menu,and bloody large it was too,it was hanging over the side of the plate large.It was also really,really lovely,the batter was crispy and bubbly in equal measure and the fish inside was soft,flaky and tasty. The chips did indeed taste of chips and the mushy peas were also of the top notch variety. Grandma pollard also sells home made pies (none of that Hollands mush) and their own cakes,and even though we were incredibly stuffed from our fish feast we decided to get a couple of pies and a brick sized vanilla slice to take home with us,all of which were very nice,especially the vanilla slab!! I am now very happy because i've found a proper chippy that is not too far away from home,and at the end of the day that's what's important in life,a proper chippy!!

Yanni's was hands-down the best fish and chips we had in the U.K. (or really anywhere for that…read morematter). The batter on the fish was so light, not at all greasy and most definitely delicious. The fish was firm and flaky... crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Served with either tarter or curry; both are super. The staff was lovely and the outside seating is perfect for people watching.

Unlike many of its rivals however, Jackson's has the pedigree to boot too as it has recently been voted Best Chippy 2010 (although I'm not quite sure where). As you might expect with such a title, Jackson's offers very good fish and chips that is delicious and filling. Their fish is delightfully crispy and golden, whilst their chips are perfectly fluffy and just the right texture between dry and soggy. Their prices are fairly competitive for the area, meaning you can get fish, chips, mushy peas, bread and butter and a hot drink for less than four pounds, which is great value for money when you consider the quality of the food you're eating. Ordered the Haddock Fish with an order of chips and mushy peas. Fish was great! Chips were decent, not the best, but the fish was definitely the star of the show, cooked to perfection in a light, not overly oil-saturated batter. The kind lady behind the counter let me try a dollop of their gravy (it was wonderful)! Such a gem with good quality food in a no frills package! Great for a quick lunch or dinner as you're walking about and exploring the area. Would definitely come back!

I instead order a battered sausage and some chips. the ambiance was terrible with a thick clammy smell as if there was no airflow for years. Alright food but wouldn't consider going back until they figure out their problems and get their priorities straight and hire new faster less judging eyeing staff who clearly did not like my appearance and hope they figure out what the smell is and that they remove it immediately. really a shame about those because the food was great and five stars just wasn't worth the wait and the smell.
