I bought 4 X 50 inch Skyworth TV's from The Brick in Nanaimo less than two years ago. I bought these for a resort that I run. Two months ago one of them failed by giving us verticle lines across the TV. I had to replace it. Today I learn of a second one that's doing the same thing. So, yet another replacement. In less than 2 years I have 2 failed TV's out of 4 that I bought. And on top of that....it's near impossible to talk to someone as you get looped through nonsense so....I gave up. read more

My husband came 3 times to attempt to purchase a floor lamp but was ignored all 3 times. The last time after my daughter asked a female sales associate to help him, the sales rep started going to help him but then decided to answer the phone instead. We had a pleasant shopping experience at the Brick in Nanaimo. Jacob was very informative in helping us select a set of dining room chairs. We wanted chairs within a specific height and width, and Jacob had a tape measure and directed us towards a selection of chairs that would fit the bill. I needed a hood fan replaced. I bought it at the Brick and it was under extended warranty. I sent two emails and attempted three times to contact by phone to their warranty company, King and State. The emails were never responded to and I was on hold for about an hour on the phone so I finally hanged up. I went personally to the Brick for assistance and after further attempts on their part, I finally was able to have a service company call me. Then it took King and State five months to supply the oart. All told, it took eight months for the warranty company to replace the part. By then I had already given up. The Brick, knowing the situation should have replace the hood themselves. read more

Good deals, The delivery people where very professional however I was not able to get their names. James helped us at this store, originally we were there to get a store credit which James who helping another customer obliged and helped us all at the same time. We saw a couch on the way out and James was able to negotiate a deal for us. Special thank to James ( You smelled great too, lol.) I bought a love seat from the Brick a few years back. The frame of the love seat broke in half when I sat down in it recently. In looking inside it was made very cheaply out of particle board. It actually may have been okay but it looks like the manufacturer was trying to use scrap pieces and attached two pieces together. The reason I came on here is to warn customers if they buy from the store to pickup their purchase and not give an email or phone number. I am not exaggerating, I am going to phone the Brick for the eighth time to try and get my name off their phone list. read more

01/09/2019 It was a rainy Sunday in September, the churches had let out and the beaches were empty. Our family had just moved over 2000km to the island and we had "forgotten" the metaphorical glue that kept our brains together, our beds. This "accident" was not so much of a problem but an opportunity, but we were tired and beaten by the road... we were in no mood to go through the motions of being sold something that we've got a near collective 80 years of experience with. In and out, get the first bed that seems comfy was the plan. Thankfully we came across Roxy, as smooth as a merlot and welcome as that third shot of tequila, she helped us see the light and take the time to subjectively define the quality of a bed... Roxy not only educated us on the why of the what BUT saved us money... she even managed to make us smile the whole time. We'd decided to be miserable, she turned it around. Now we sleep warm and cozy at night, grateful to have had Roxy stumble across or weary heads in her showroom. Come all ye weary travellers, the Brick in Nanaimo will provide. read more

On JAN 4/17 I purchased a Fridgadaire 20.5 cubic ft fridge. We plugged it in and it was dead. Called the Brick, they sent a serviceman , he showed up 2 weeks later and by then the food was rotten. I called the Brick about the spoiled food, wanted food spoilage insurance and they declined because there was no extended warranty purchased .We are long term customers will never purchase there again ! Bought a sofa bed from here Nov. 25th/16. The brackets pulled away from the from 3 days later. Ive heard every excuse and am still waiting for them to fix it. It's now Jan. 9th/18. Also two thumbs down to the furniture medic out of Port Alberni that they contract out to. He's probably lost my work order once again. read more

2 bad experiences. Both times they had ridiculous excuses for not doing what they should be and said they would do. Most recently, bought a boxspring from them and within 6 months it completely broke and snapped. We contacted them, only to get some email with all these questions and that a technician would come to see it in person (even though we sent photos). We said we were not comfortable with someone coming in our house during Covid when it is not necessary. It has been over a week, still no new boxspring. We are currently sleeping on our mattress on the floor. They will not refund the money. We said we did not want the same boxspring, as it is clearly not good. They compared it to a car sales (you wouldn't return a broken car after buying it), which is not the same at all. They took zero responsibility. Finally we got an answer and the delivery fee was more than the boxspring itself. So now, we have to find someone to pick it up for us, and we know it will break again because it is a horrible product. This is the 2nd negative experience in the 2 times I have bought from them. I was able to discuss my purchases with her over the phone before hand and as a result, the transactions were completed smoothly and efficiently. Price matching was honoured with no fuss and there was no sales pressure whatsover. Laura is very knowledgeable of the Brick's products and I would not hesitate to recommend her. read more

Gotta problem/problems with the Brick. I am upset as we have had a long history with them, buying maybe $15K worth 16 years ago and other purchases even before and after that that I do not now remember. Bits and pieces ever since like a d/w 2 years ago and 3 appliances 3 weeks ago. The latest purchases were all screwed up and altho' we had heard other stories of incompetence from other customers that were negative, well, now I have to confirm them. Watch out for sales peoples' reassurances about delivery, installation and warranty. I think they are either ill-informed or that they lie. The 'in-stock' on sale w/d set were delivered by some nice fellas who could not even extract the power cord inside the back of the dryer. They said a techie guy would be out soon to take the back off so as not to invalidate the warranty... That guy arrived a week later. But then, the techie was unable/unwilling to position the unit in place and my hubby and I both in our 60's and unhealthy were unable to budge it...:( Eventually, with some shimmying we got it in place to do laundry again after 10 days without access. Today, we cleared the old fridge/freezer unit. All of this had been measured and we were assured that the Brick installation team could deal with it. The guys got here and wanted us to have done the water turn off (?) and have the water stopped and unit turned off (which we did). We had only cleared it out as per the seller's instruction (note this is now 2 weeks past purchase). So we have had to hire a plumber (minimal rate $160 because the Brick installers are not trained in installation!! That is a minimal estimate...). Plus the Brick staff say they cannot commit to sending their staff with our new unit while the plumber is here (!!). Went to the 'management level' and we shall see. We are also working around floor sealing etc as we are going to sell this house. Guess what? Installation of new hardwood floors takes less time than installation of purchased appliances from the Brick. BEWARE!! This is just friggin' nonsense. If we were employed (and not even poorer, 'ho we are poor, as we are on limited pensions) and we were not trying to sell this house which was made clear upfront to everyone, it would have cost us days off work. Instead it has cost us stress unnecessarily. Of course we shall be listing later than planned and that too is stressful. So, if time is important, DO NOT BUY from the Brick!! read more

We are so overly frustrated with our experience with the Brick in Nanaimo! We decided to re-furnish our home, which included purchasing a Livingroom set, Master Bedroom set and a Kids Bedroom Set. Our purchase was $6000. The salesman was very helpful and did his job well, as per usual he was a little pushy but we held our ground. Once we committed to the purchase, that's when things started going downhill. 1) We put a deposit down on our purchase and were coming back in 2 days to pay off the remainder (a Saturday). We were told when we put the deposit on our purchase that if we pay the remainder off on Saturday our goods will be delivered on the Tuesday. When we called on the Friday to double check the amount we needed to pay and then they told us the goods will not be delivered until THURSDAY. We put up a stink about this and they corrected this agreeing to deliver it on the Saturday. 2) Delivery: We were told they would be delivering between 8-10am and they showed up at 1:30pm. We were told they would set up all the furniture and they set up the master bedroom but just put the boxes of stuff in the kids bedroom and left saying "we dont set it all up". 3) Then when we went to set up our child's bed, the design on the bed was completely cracked and ruined. It looked awful. We called them and they had to order another headboard and footboard and it would not be in until Tuesday. We then had to bring back the ones we had (we live 40 minutes from the brick) and pick up the new one. We demanded the box be opened at the store and upon opening it discovered that this one was damaged as well!!! This one was not as badly damaged as the first one, and they said they will have to order another one and it would be another 3 days!!! We are doing the bedroom as a surprise for my Daughter who is away but coming home in 2 days. We told them we will just keep the one we have and try to repair it but they need to give us a partial refund on the product - which they eventually did with hesitation. Would not order from here again. Ordered a washer and dryer and delivery was over a month, which was not stated when ordering. When addressing the slow service, I asked if customers were given a discount because of all the delays, the shipping coordinator stated it was specialty items. It was never stated anywhere it was a specialty item nor did it indicate they did not have the items in stock. Horrible service. read more

I made a purchase from Clayton, he was awesome with my 89 year old mother and 86 year old father. He could not change the sale price to the correct price in the computer; Lee assisted and was also awesome! Unfortunately, Lee could not change the sale price either.The Assistant Manager was called I pointed out the sale price was wrong on the computer. He told me I was wrong, I picked up the yellow sales card and showed him the sale price was lower than registered in the computer. He yell at me and was beyond rude. If I was not purchasing for my mother I would have continued to purchase.This store need an Assistant Manager who know how to train his staff and has competent customer service skills. I score Assistant Manager in customer service 1/10 as he was capable of overriding the sale price. Everything else I fail him on. He also tried to inconvenience us with a changed delivery date on a floor item. This store needs a new assistant manager that has people skills. As a long term loyalty customer off The Brick, I am appalled at this managers lack of social skills and rudeness to customers. read more

Aftermarket Service sucks. I purchased and installed a Bosch dishwasher and withthin 2 weeks after installation it needed repairs. When I called Brick for service information, the lady at the Brick in Nanaimo gave me a 1-800 number. She did not know where the service company was located or what the service company could do for me. She just kept repeating that I needed to call the service company and talk with them about my problem.h Brick in Nanaimo is great at selling , but once out the door,byyer beware.
