Before visiting North Carolina recently, if you had told me about a bar at at a gas station, I would have simply assumed that you meant they'd supply you with a stealthy brown sack along with your bottle or can. Imagine my pleasant surprise to see this beer garden located on the side of a gas station. I discovered this place while locating El Kim Chi, the Mexican-Korean fusion food truck that parks there a couple times a week. As others have noted, there are about eight taps all priced at $4 with a couple taps available for $3. During my visit there were two $3 specials: New Belgium from right in Asheville and Utica Club (UC Pilsner, as they called it), which is brewed about an hour from me in beautiful upstate NY. Oh the dilemma, do you go for what's local to where to you or local to where you're from? Well, whichever you choose, don't take too long to decide because the kim chi has a real kick to it, so you'll want something to relieve the burn in your mouth. I liked how the gravel-filled area is dog friendly and how the pint classes had designs from nearby breweries. It's a classy touch that's a step up from the unbranded shaker glass. Oh yes, and the location, right across the street from the Isis Theater.

Such an interesting place. Located inside of a gas station in West Asheville is a cute little bar with an outdoor area for everyone to enjoy. Dog friendly, kid friendly, people friendly, there is not a type of friendly this place doesn't have. Even the staff is super friendly! They will have about 6 or 7 beers on tap of which one, will be on special. I have been here a few times and each time I have been, the beer selection is different. Inside of the gas station also has a large beer selection and although overpriced, it is close to home and quick to maneuver. The best part about this place is the large outdoor area where dogs are allowed to roam free, off leash (as long as it is before 8 PM) and the humans can congregate at a picnic table or play some cornhole. Hungry? There is usually one of Asheville's fine food trucks parked out in front of the establishment or, just pop inside of the gas station and grab a quick snack. It is great to enjoy a brew and some fresh air in this place! Never overcrowded and always a pleasant experience.

Stopped here for dinner because our favorite food truck was here...Great little bar in a gas station. Local brews on tap (and they have king don's pumpkin ale in season). Was pleasantly surprised. Will be back, even without the food truck - but not having food in site is a drawback.

Pleasantly surprised with this place. Good happy hour price with $3 drafts and a really cool outside vibe with a swing, a ton of tables and a cornhole set up. My first stop in Asheville and it was a great start!

Great chill spot . Can't beat it. 4 instead of 5 stars because of the interesting/non NC beer list.

In the 1.5 years since, it's still the place I most often come back to in Hendersonville, despite sampling the food and beer at basically every place in town! I love the ambiance of the old converted gas station, the fact that you can sit inside or outside (and on chilly days, they don't skimp on the heaters) and the carousel of great food trucks that are always there. I love that you're not limited to one brewery's offerings, and instead have options from local NC establishments to interesting brews from all over the country. The bartenders know their regulars and are absolutely awesome, and I LOVE that I can take my pup, take my family, take my laptop---whatever the circumstances, Blue Ridge Beer Garden is the place to be. ALSO, it should be noted that in sleepy Hendo (where some restaurants close as early as 8 pm--why??), Blue Ridge Beer Garden is blessedly open till 10.

The beer tenders were friendly and knowledgeable about the beers. There's a little indoor seating, more seating in a secondary area with pull down canvas sides and then several tables on artificial turf for nice sunny days when you want to be completely outside. They have a wide variety of local food trucks on a rotating basis parked in a slot right next to the bar and dining tables. They are close to downtown Hendersonville without being right on the main road, which makes parking and access easier.

Being someone who isn't the biggest fan of kids in the brewery, it was nice that the kids had a place outside to run around while I could drink in (relative) silence inside. As for the beers, yes they have all the New Belgium favorites you know and love from the store, but with plenty of beers that you'll only find on the tap list. Even though the brewery is called New Belgium, they aren't really known in the beer aisles for Belgian styles. Here is where all those Belgian styles are, and they are fantastic. My only regret was that I didn't have enough time to spend there because there were too many other places to visit in a short amount of time. Local beer snobs will probably tell you to avoid New Belgium because it's "too corporate", but don't listen to that nonsense. New Belgium's tap room was one of the most impressive I've ever visited - great quality beers in an incredible space.

I like the way they incorporated samples throughout the tour and the number and size of samples alone is worth the price of the tour. But I also thoroughly enjoyed the tour itself along with the tour surprise. Beautiful grounds at a very good location on the river. My favorite location so far of the 14 breweries I have been to in Asheville. Definitely recommend trying just for the location alone.
