They sold out of bread two customers before me, but I hear it is delicious! Prepare to arrive early or call ahead or visit their website. Small dining area and tables outside. Wow, The moment you walk in the front door the smell just makes you feel good. I was like a kid in a candy store, looking at all the different items. We had lunch there first and then left with 10 different items. We plan to go back again soon!! read more

Got up and ran for breaky. We had a delicious meal after a short drive. We were welcomed when we walked in the door and were assisted in making decisions based on as available. So glad we were able to make a stop here on our road trip. We feel super lucky because this gem is only open three days out of the week: Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. We loved the window display and loved the news article about how this establishment started. The story of how a physician changed career paths so he can have a family business with his special needs daughter! The menu is extensive but it does depend on when you get there as some items can be sold out. We were so lucky that we were able to pick from a nice fresh selection of sweets and savory items. We ordered the chicken pot pie, Mac and cheese, the huckleberry cream pie, the raspberry cheesecake and the basque cake. Everything was delicious! Couldn't complain about a single item. They were so delicious we went back inside to get more pot pies but apparently we bought the last ones. Luckily we were able to buy them frozen! Such a nice establishment and a heartwarming story on how it got started. Definitely recommend this place to anyone and everyone. The staff were friendly and a pleasure to speak with. read more

We live in Wellington Co. My husband lived in Torington growing up. We were told by his sister in law Marilyn Glandt of your wonderful bakery. I ordered two dozen of the English muffins. Wow, do I love them. I toast them with a good cheddar cheese Nothing better! The Black Russian bread is also superb as well as the sourdough bread. I've been in Torrington for 60 days and in that time been to the Bread Doctor north of 20 times. It's run by the local Emergency Room physician and his beautiful family, who are always friendly and ready to recommend something. Menu changes by the week, so you don't know what you'll see until you arrive. There are always a dozen types of different sweet breads - things you wouldn't make at home unless a VERY special occasion - and loaves of sandwich bread. The Russian black you'd swear is from Kiev or Moscow, the French loaf a la Paris, I recommend his own Wyoming spelt full of hearty goodness. You will not buy grocery store bread ever again. Specials I've tried are a baked macaroni and cheese, an Italian-style thin pizza (with sourdough!), and today (16OCT21) a tortellini that would sell out in Palermo. Have you walked into a bakery with a sweet tooth and left with a pizza? It's that kinda place. My Sicilian grandmother, picky as ever with American bakers, would approve 10/10. It beats anything I've had in New Orleans, Portland, or San Francisco. If you're within an hour's drive of Torrington should go here. If you're within 2 hours drive and bored one morning, you should go here. read more

I've a pretty high standard for french bakeries and patisseries and if this place was in a larger city I'd have given it 4.5 stars. But since its in the middle of nowhere in Torrington, WY, it deserves a full five. Just goes to show that excellent food can be had anywhere in the world, be it a metropolitan or a small village. Right in sleepy downtown of Torrington we found the Bread doctor. Brightly polished wooden exterior made it stand out on an otherwise dusty street. We originally wanted to go to another place which had more reviews but since it was closed we just took a chance and went in here. And we didn't regret it. They have a mouth watering array of pastries and breads. I got the Schnecken (german for snail, named so because of their shape) flavored with apple, raisins and brandy. Just mouthwateringly good. My friends got the eclair, cheesecake and the nutella flavored roll which were just as good. I only regret not buying some more of their pastries for the road! A sure shop stopover if you're doing a roadtrip in that region. read more

This bakery is just what the doctor ordered. I have been excited to try this awesome little bakery since I heard it would be opening a few months ago. Over this past week I visited twice and was able to sample many of the amazing pastries and baked goodies. A few of my favorites are the turnovers (both cherry and apple are divine), the challah bread and the heavenly chocolate croissant. I have never in my life tasted a chocolate croissant like this one (and I have had sampled a few). This bakery even has a few savory options, my husband ordered the pot pie and let me have a taste. The pot pie has a little bit of spice (curry perhaps?) that gives it a little kick, it truly makes the pie. The icing on the bakery cake? The wonderful family who runs it. They are truly a staple in the Torrington community and work hard to promote both their business, and other small businesses around area. Came to town from Colorado for the Eclipse. This place had tents set up on the street with tables and chairs, a cash-only express lane selling fresh cherry turnovers, and after a reasonable line, the most amazing pastries you could ever have. It was so great that we didn't take pictures because we were in the moment. It was my first time coming here so I didn't know what to expect. We ordered an empanada, lorraine quiche, cheesecake bite, and lemon tart. EVERYTHING was delicious! The empanada had a little heat which I liked and the crust was light. The lorraine quiche heightened my standard for all quiches. It was moist and the crust was so buttery. The cheesecake bite was so nice if you want to try the cheesecake without commiting to buying a whole cake. It was also covered in chocolate so that was a huge plus. Lastly, but certainly not least was the lemon tart. It was beautiful - in looks and taste. Tart of course but it had a cream base that complimented the dessert. The cherry on top of this amazing experience was the staff, they were nice and recommended lots of great options. Additionally, they served us even though it was during closing. I will definitely make the Bread Doctor a necessary stop on my way through Wyoming and you should too. read more

We've lived in the Torrington area for about 25 years, having lived previously in a larger city out of state. The Bread Doctor is second to none in quality--both in food and atmosphere. Housed in a beautifully remodeled old building on Torrington's Main Street, the quality finishes extend from the decor to the tableware a guest receives when he or she chooses to enjoy eating "in." I concur with the other reviewers when it comes to the exceptional pastries, confections, and breads. I've tried a wide variety of their offerings, and have yet to find something that was not delightful.
