I have been taking lessons for a year now with Taylor. The improvement in my singing and getting over the fear of performing in front of people have been nothing but remarkable. I can now go to open mics anywhere and my heart rate is not at 120 anymore just sitting and waiting for my turn. Without her encouragement and coaching, my journey would not have been possible. I was asked to play a half hour set and I said, yes. At first I thought I could do it, but as the day got closer, the less faith I had in my ability to pull it off. I would not only be playing and singing, but would be playing all of my own songs that I wrote after attending Taylors songwriting workshop. The week before my performance, I went to my lesson and told Taylor that I was not sure I could do it. I thought my voice was terrible, my songs were no good and my guitar playing was mediocre. She kindly built up my confidence and courage to go through with it. Well, I showed up and played and sang. It was such an incredible experience and I was able to do what I had waited so many years to do. I really felt like I did belong up there playing. Taylor is hands down the BEST! I'm someone who has always loved singing but never thought it was worth taking lessons. Taylor's studio more than lives up to the name. At the beginning of this year, Ms. Crawford started working as my vocal coach. In the past 7 months, I've regained a lot of my confidence and I feel like a much more competent singer. I never knew there was so much to learn about my voice as an instrument! You can expect to work on things like breathing, posture, shaping of your mouth, and so much more. The amount of technique that I have learned far surpasses any expectation I'd have had for any single private instructor to arm me with. I am a serious musician and play guitar. I have been in semi professional bands and I've always wanted to be able to sing. I have a very bass oriented voice with limited range. I just had my first voice lesson with Taylor and what an uplifting experience! I love to sing but as a "closet singer" I don't have a lot of confidence in how my voice sounds. Although I was nervous when the lesson began, Taylor made me really comfortable and gently encouraged me to work through the vocal exercises. I was really impressed with Taylor's knowledge of the science and physiology of how our body's muscles work - which in turn affect the quality of our voices and our singing.
