Taylor opened my eyes to the joy of singing... without fear! 3 months into our weekly sessions she had me singing jazz songs (something I'd never considered), and 6 months in, i was singing in front of a small and supportive crowd. Was it challenging? For sure. Did I love the process regardless? Absolutely 100%. I'm currently taking a break for personal reasons, but I often look back and think how much fun I had. I look forward to returning and picking up where we left off one day. read more

What an amazing experience! A wonderful introduction into the world of music! I was preparing to sing a song for a first time audition with a local theatre company. I enjoyed the whole process from voice training to performance. I sounded better after each lesson. Taylor knows how to teach and communicates very well conveying a good ear! She's very welcoming, kind and easy to work with. The time was managed so well, I felt like the price was well worth it. I had so much fun! Thank you, Taylor! read more

Best vocal teacher ever! Super kind and knowledgeable and a great musician herself! Would recommend

Adding an additional rating after receiving Taylor's guidance for over a year now... Taylor is a wonderful teacher who has created such a safe space for me over this year. As an otherwise reserved person, I feel so appreciative that Taylor has provided me a space to unleash my most creative sides and truly be myself. I and those close to me have noticed a drastic improvement in my singing abilities. Taylor has instructed me on how to sing healthily, on breath support, and has encouraged me to develop practicing habits. Soooo many recommendations to be a student of Taylor's!!!! read more

Prior to signing up for vocal lessons with Taylor, I spent a decent amount of time looking for local vocal teachers and I'm so happy I ended up going with her. I've played music for a long time, but was always so timid about singing. She was so so helpful, helped me understand my range better, great vocal exercises and so much more. The performance nights are great and a really good way to get more comfortable in your own voice. If you are trying to figure out who to go to for vocal lessons, just stop looking and go with her! read more

Taylor is amazing. Her ability to target my challenging areas have been so incredibly helpful. After 59 years, this is my first vocal lesson and I feel like she totally gets me and what I'm trying to accomplish. Looking forward to all of our future lessons. read more

Taylor, you're such an extraordinary human! The gratitude I have for you helping me achieve my singing goals while building a new self-confidence - thank you! Singing was super scary for me; it made me so nervous; until I met Taylor. Your passion, heart, ears, and, patients are far beyond anything I've ever experienced. Thank you for believing in me. I am the BRAVE VOICE! If you're looking for a voice teacher, you found one! xo, Tim read more

Taylor is an excellent performer and teacher, As someone who is hesitant to step into the spotlight singing in front of people has always been a challenge for me, Taylor was patient and encouraging and was able to slowly coax me out of my shell. If you feel nervous about it, or just want to be able to sing karaoke without feeling self conscious (well less so anyway), this is a great place to start. read more

Taylor is hands down the BEST! I'm someone who has always loved singing but never thought it was worth taking lessons. I'm so glad I took the leap and found someone as badass and encouraging as Taylor! Her lessons are super comprehensive--not only do we sing, but we talk about why our lovely instruments sound the way they do, whether it's our emotions, our anatomy, the weather.... It's exciting to work with someone who knows how to break down anatomical concepts in a way that isn't daunting AND is a fun/radiant spirit that makes the studio a comfortable place to sing in. It helps knowing she has experienced so much on her own personal voice journey; when she hears or sees something that needs to be corrected, she communicates with empathy and encouragement so I know I'm supported. In only a few months, I've personally noticed my growth as a singer. Yes, I still am a li'l self conscious about just letting go, but I feel more confident knowing I now have tools in my toolbox to sound cleaner, sing in my true sound, and just relax! Taylor is not kidding when she says to trust the process. It's not always comfortable trying things you're not used to, but duh, that's the point! I'm someone who gets super paranoid trying new things (personally, I think it's a pandemic-related symptom, but my husband's telling me I've always been this way, so now we're beefing), but I'm so grateful to Taylor pushing me because she is like a personal hype woman/intellectual rockstar/concert wrapped in one! 10/10, would recommend to anyone just starting or rekindling their singing journey. (Also, her studio is magic! Who wouldn't feel like singing their best when surrounded by pianos, ukuleles, box lights galore?) read more

Working with Taylor was a DREAM! She helped me learn to love my voice and believe in myself -- that alone gave me such a boost of confidence that carried over into my daily life, but also showed me I *can* sing and enjoy it. My first goal was to learn how to use my voice correctly because I enjoy singing but struggled with understanding how to use my voice in particular. Then we put my new skills to work by recording a cover song together that I gave to my boyfriend as an anniversary gift. It was so rewarding! Taylor is truly an expert, she deeply understands the concepts she's teaching and translates them to be easily understood by you. All while being warm and lovely, making you feel safe and seen. This expression is rooted in our emotions and Taylor knows how to be gentle with that, how to help heal your struggles around singing, and how to unlock that special part of you. read more

Taylor is talented, compassionate, and great at helping put students at ease. She prepared me for a solo and it went great!

I just wanted to check back in with an updated review to show my appreciation to Taylor of The Brave Voice. We see real, positive improvements in my daughter's voice, range and confidence. Her technique and attention to breath work has allowed my daughter to branch out into public performance, song writing and learning guitar and piano. Taylor has been a great voice of encouragement in all those areas, always willing to work on foundations and new projects. Our experience continues to be wonderful and the impact on my daughter's talents is proven. read more

I have been taking lessons for a year now with Taylor. The improvement in my singing and getting over the fear of performing in front of people have been nothing but remarkable. I can now go to open mics anywhere and my heart rate is not at 120 anymore just sitting and waiting for my turn. Without her encouragement and coaching, my journey would not have been possible. I was asked to play a half hour set and I said, yes. At first I thought I could do it, but as the day got closer, the less faith I had in my ability to pull it off. I would not only be playing and singing, but would be playing all of my own songs that I wrote after attending Taylors songwriting workshop. The week before my performance, I went to my lesson and told Taylor that I was not sure I could do it. I thought my voice was terrible, my songs were no good and my guitar playing was mediocre. She kindly built up my confidence and courage to go through with it. Well, I showed up and played and sang. It was such an incredible experience and I was able to do what I had waited so many years to do. I really felt like I did belong up there playing. It went so good and was so much fun, I can't wait to play again. I truly believe no mater where you are at in your musical journey, Taylor is the best choice to take you to the next level. Her understanding of how the human body and singing all come together is amazing. She can explain it in the scientific terms, but then break it down so I can understand it . Simply said if you are looking for a voice coach, courage coach and someone that will support you in a safe place, give Taylor a try. Thank you so much Taylor for all the you have done for me. read more

Taylor's studio more than lives up to the name. At the beginning of this year, Ms. Crawford started working as my vocal coach. In the past 7 months, I've regained a lot of my confidence and I feel like a much more competent singer. I never knew there was so much to learn about my voice as an instrument! You can expect to work on things like breathing, posture, shaping of your mouth, and so much more. The amount of technique that I have learned far surpasses any expectation I'd have had for any single private instructor to arm me with. Taylor also gives you the space and support you need in order to learn so much technique without feeling overwhelmed. She's also been very gentle with me in terms of helping to guide me to a place where I feel comfortable singing in front of others. I definitely feel braver! I'd recommend The Brave Voice for singers at any age and at any level. You can also work with her no matter where you are located, so long as you have a good enough internet connection, some decent headphones, and a good mic. Thank you so much, Taylor! I really appreciate you as a person and as an instructor. You're easily one of the best teachers that I've ever had, full stop. read more

I took a number of adult vocal lessons from Taylor, and her instruction jump-started my confidence as an onstage performer! If you've seen her sing, you know she's an AMAZING vocalist, but her teaching skills are just as on point. Her teaching approach combines her extremely personable demeanor with expertise in her field, which is perfect for both beginners and advanced vocalists. She made me feel at ease doing something that was very far out of my comfort zone or realm of knowledge all while offering on-the-fly strategies and adjustments during the lessons. As someone with no vocal background, she quickly helped me figure out the core areas of focus for maximum progress. Her knowledge of and experience in how to apply techniques in a live performance setting were extremely valuable to me, and within just a few lessons, I felt more prepared and capable for my band's live shows. I can't recommend her enough! read more

Taylor is simply the best!!! She helped me find my voice and most importantly, helped me find the confidence to sing and write vocal songs. I had previously only written instrumental pieces, thinking I could never actually sing well. Her techniques are completely on point and move you fast into a zone that feels natural, yet powerful. It's not hyperbole when I say that I am forever indebted to Taylor for opening up the most awesome form of musical expression ever. Taylor for the win! read more

If you are searching for a high quality voice teacher, Taylor is the one you have been looking for. The knowledge she has in anything related to the voice is extraordinary. She brings TANGIBLE results. She hears the subtlest changes while you are singing, and actually tells you what you can do to change it. She gives a name to the issue you have been struggling to describe. If you pick Taylor, your confidence, joy, and overall love for singing will grow immensely. The voice is more complex than you or I know. Taylor is the closest person I've met to actually have that knowledge, and is so patiently able to share and describe it to me in a detailed and clear way. She always has your best interest at heart. I could go on, but I really think it's worth reaching out and experiencing it all on your own. You will not regret it. Thank you for all you do Taylor!!! read more

I am a serious musician and play guitar. I have been in semi professional bands and I've always wanted to be able to sing. I have a very bass oriented voice with limited range. Over my life I had people tell me not to sing. I just felt like I never had one of those voices and ultimately lacked self confidence. However, finally In the last year I decided to seek a professional and see what was possible. I discovered The Brave Voice and Taylor Crawford and it has changed my life. It's one thing to be a person who could sing in an acceptable way and then improve. It's another to have zero confidence in yourself as singer and then been taught there a science and far more to singing than just the quality of the voice you were born with. Taylor not only understands what sounds good and has an incredible ear, but she can articulate in great detail the science and structure of the voice itself. Being very analytical myself I really needed to understand the science behind singing as well as how to approach it from all the possible viewpoints. I now perform and actually sing some songs as a lead singer and very well received. My back up harmonies and all the other elements of singing or adding so much more to my musical life. For anyone who has dreamed of singing let me tell you it is possible but only with the right kind of teacher and with hard work. I can't imagine anybody being any better at the art of teaching proper singing and vocal training than Taylor Crawford at the Brave Voice. I am indeed very empowered and brave on stage now more than ever!! read more

I just had my first voice lesson with Taylor and what an uplifting experience! I love to sing but as a "closet singer" I don't have a lot of confidence in how my voice sounds. Although I was nervous when the lesson began, Taylor made me really comfortable and gently encouraged me to work through the vocal exercises. I was really impressed with Taylor's knowledge of the science and physiology of how our body's muscles work - which in turn affect the quality of our voices and our singing. She immediately pinpointed the areas I need to work on to improve my singing. I am practicing a simple voice exercise she assigned to me and I am surprised that I am already seeing progress after only 1 week! With Taylor's guidance and expert teaching I am confident that I will be able to transform from a "Coward's Voice" to a "Brave Voice." read more

Working with Taylor is a great choice for musicians of any age or skill! She has a natural ability to assess where her students are, and give them the tools they need to succeed and reach their goals. My experience working with her was memorable and rewarding. We mainly focused on singing exercises, and improving basic pitch and technique. She's a very well rounded musician. She can play guitar, piano, ukulele, and so much more, and can teach you how to as well! Because she's a working musician herself, she possesses a wealth knowledge on the many different sides of the music business. Learning chords and theory, writing and singing lyrics, recording home demos, performing, basic instrument maintenance, and on and on. Check her out for yourself and see why Taylor is a great resource to help you become a better musician! Thank you Taylor :) read more

Taylor is such a great music instructor. She's really got a knack for making music fun for kids. My son started ukulele with Taylor 2 years ago and recently started guitar. He would love to learn piano at some point! Even though Taylor's specialty is not drums she got my son interested in drums. It was at a time when my son was losing interest in ukulele. Taylor set us up with a great drum instructor and we decided to try guitar at the same time with taylor; she was able to see that there was a need to make an adjustment and communicated that to me. The change was made and my son is thriving musically. He now wants to play ukulele again because "it's easier" than the newer instruments he's taken on. She sets up these great recitals for her students where I've seen kids and adults showcase their talents. read more
