I started going to Lori for voice lessons in 2018 and it's one of the best decisions I've made! I wanted a new challenge in my early 30's and Lori helped me realize that it's never too late to learn a new skill! Lori is very patient and I've never felt judged by her. She gives great analogies to help you understand concepts. When I have no clue how to overcome an obstacle in a song, she gives the right exercise to overcome it. I'm an adult with zero singing experience and Lori has been amazing nurturing me into being able to sing decently. For the first time in my life I'm not ashamed at my voice and I actually surprise myself by being able to match pitch and notes now! You can take lessons over Zoom from the comfort of your own home so it couldn't be easier. I found Lori on yelp and am very happy I did.. she works in a cool place called lock out studios in downtown Santa Ana.. I feel like such a rock star when I go there. I initially just wanted my daughter to take lessons but then I ended up taking lessons as well. It's so much fun and Lori makes me feel very comfortable and I can really get into the sessions and not feel embarrassed. Her space is very clean and comfortable and she knows her stuff. I decided to take vocal lessons to surprise my fiancé on our wedding day by singing a portion of my vows... I didn't have a lot of time, so I wasnt sure how much vocal lessons would help. THEY HELPED A LOT!!! Especially because of Lori! She spotted my weaknesses and gave me tips to improve them. She identified my strengths and helped me emphasize them. Taught me vocal exercises to increase my range and projection. And all within just a few lessons!! ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!! And she is an actual TEACHER! I absolutely love working with Lori. I've been her student for 4 months now and I really feel like I've been making massive strides. My issue vocally is that I sing with a "mask" which is a tough habit to break. With Lori's help I've been utilizing better technique and while it's been challenging overcoming my fear of "sounding bad" Lori has been nothing but encouraging and always takes the time to make sure that each vocal exercise we do strengthens my voice and ensures I'm singing correctly. Lori has helped me tremendously starting from ground zero. I've had experience with violin, trumpet and mainly guitar but never any voice training, and any training I did by myself was a disaster.
