This week I made a trip to Pix Shoes in Louisville, KY to find a hat for a special occasion. I…read moreneeded a navy blue hat. Hat or fascinator? What was the occasion? What kind of outfit would I be wearing, dressy or casual? After giving the store owner the information, she immediately went around the store pulling every navy blue hat on display. Then, she went to their stock room and found even more. I was overwhelmed. Then I was asked if I might be interested in any shoes. I wear a size and width that is unavailable in most stores and can only find them at Stout's Shoe Store in downtown Indianapolis, or at Zappos online. She recognized the brand name of the shoes I was wearing and said she had a pair of the same brand on the shelf. Unfortunately, it was a pair that I already own. Then she and her husband set out to find at least 5 more pairs of shoes in my size and width. What is the superlative to overwhelmed? I left the store with 3 hats and a pair of shoes that sell for more than twice what I paid. Needless to say, I will be returning to Pix Shoes on Preston the next time I visit Louisville.

I figured it would just be a little shop but I was pleasantly surprise that it's got some massive square footage, let alone for the location. A lot of the stuff isn't cheap, let's be real, but so far it's all held up fairly well. We spent a little over an hour here just wandering around, taking a look at everything the store had to offer. Fitting rooms are spacious and well lit, plenty of selection for all types of needs. If you're at all familiar with the brand and they have what you're looking for, this is worth a stop for sure. Staff was extremely friendly, offering to take stuff that we knew we wanted up to the register to go ahead and fold for us to make for a quick and easy checkout.

The staff asked if I needed help a couple of times without hovering, and when I checked out, they showed me how I could get an additional 20% off (without opening a credit card or anything like that). The store is always tidy and organized. Checking out is typically painless and DSW sends out coupons and gift cards for people that frequent their store. Shipping is free if you can't find the size you need at the store. Walked out today with a dressy black bootie and sandals to keep for warmer weather.

I did appreciate they had a dressing room available, which isn't always found in each Nulu store. Today was Nulu Fest and the store had small racks and discounted items along the street. We had the shop to ourselves, so I'm guessing the shop owners were part of the crowd outside.

I just found a pair of boots that were over $70 and got them for $14 taking advantage of the mark down to $27 and using the buy two pair of shores to get 50 percent of one pair. They always give you friendly service each time you come 2. Seeing the large Christmas tree in the parking lot and hearing the music made the whole experience magical as well. Even though I spent $70 something for 2 pair of shoes total, I really spent around $35 a pair before tax on quality shoes that will last for years.

I entered the store in hopes of finding a shoe really similar to my current Sketchers slip on shoe. The reason I have loved these shoes is they are light weight, slip on, a neutral grey color that goes with many outfits, and most of all COMFORTABLE with a Memory Foam insole. When I entered today I was greeted by a friendly young woman employee. She asked if she could help me and I replied I was looking for a shoe much like what I was wearing. Of course I didn't expect to get much help. Wrong! The employee, I think her name was Stephanie, walked me back to an aisle that had shoes almost identical to mine. Then she said she had another Sketcher shoe she thought I might really like. It looks much more like a traditional walking shoe but it has a step-in feature that is just that. You simply step in and to take it off you just tap the heel with the toe of your other foot. Light weight, check, easy to put on, check, comfortable with memory foam, check, a color and look that goes with many outfits, check! I'm sold. Then I asked the young employee if they had the buy one and get half off the second pair. She was apologetic that they no longer have that deal but asked if I had a smart phone.
