I highly recommend this store. I only recently got into running and the first time at the store I was a little intimidated and didn't know what I wanted. I explained that I was running in keen hiking shoes and the employee made me laugh by saying I was basically running in boots! He let me try on the shoes I purchased and let me test them in the parking lot. Who does that? I took the leap and bought 140 dollar shoes. I loved them so much I just went back and bought another pair. He gave me 10 percent off and was polite and helpful throughout the exchange. *Long review, but worth the read!* I have been a server/waitress for 5 years now, so naturally I've tried every possible shoe and changing shoes out every two months. I naturally have extremely wide feet and when I started working at the hospital, I knew I needed something with longevity. Wide shoes are so difficult to find that fits perfectly. I came into the store because I was hoping someone with some knowledge of shoes & the proper fit would help me and that's exactly what I found! I've been in the store two or three times. The first time, Ms. Luanne guided me through the process of finding the right sizing, the right insole; literally everything. Because I'm a server, I'm required to wear non-slip shoes, although the first shoe I purchased didn't quite work out, I was able to exchange my pair of shoes for something for my second job. The second time I came in, she fitted me for numerous shoes & insoles. She was exceptionally patient and didn't once rush me in my purchases. She was very understanding and so knowledgeable on the variety of products the own. Being a younger female, people usually brush me off and don't really take the time to help me because they assume I'm not not there to buy anything, or is just looking for the cheapest product. Ms. Luanne didn't make me feel that way at any point. I'm extremely thankful that she guided me towards the best decision I've ever made for work shoes. It's been about three months since I've purchased my shoes & insoles, and I'm able to work (3) 12hr+ shifts every week with no problem. I needed something other than my Chucks to walk in and use for walking on treadmill. I wanted to shop local and found this store. I am not a runner but wanted something that would give me support. They measured my feet - left wider - and brought out a few pairs. One pair looked like the old Earth Shoes, I tried those but didn't fit quite right. Finally went with a lower sole (no Hoka's) so that the transition from Chucks to a real shoe wasn't too shocking on my body. I was told to try them out in the house and on my treadmill to see how my feet reacted to these shoes. If I wasn't happy I could bring them back as long as they haven't been worn outside. This was like going into Payless Shoe Source. Terrible service. Zero knowledge. Just cycling through people like they're walking idiotic wallets. "I just told you that I have narrow feet and my current shoes (one of the styles he just pointed out to me, so I pointed back at them...again...) are way too wide." ... I recently visited Ken Combs Running Store to purchase a pair of shoes to use for working out, and my experience was fine. I honestly didn't know exactly what I was looking for when I went in, and the store associate wasn't very helpful in offering advice. She basically asked me what I wanted and expected me to know. I explained to her the type of workouts I was doing, and she came back with a couple of pairs of shoes. I liked one of them (as much as you can like running shoes, I honestly don't think any of them are cute), and they were comfortable, so I purchased them. They have worked out fine for me, so I am happy with the purchase. I had an appointment for at a fitting at another store, but they said they were busy when I walked in and it would be late. So I drove down to Ken Combs. And I'm glad I did. The store is small and comfy in a good, friendly way. They have a wide variety of shoes. I was greeted almost immediately and fitted for new running shoes. My associate was really nice and patient and recommended several pairs for me. When I had trouble deciding between two, she recommended I try them outside on the sidewalk. All the staff I met that day at Ken combs running store were very helpful and pleasant. The older gentleman with the white hair helped me with my hoka purchase,even told Me to walk outside in the to test them out. Diane was also pleasant and helpful. I've been buying my hokas online and wanted to find a store locally that sell them. So when I stumbled across this store I was very happy. Until it was time to check out. Don't know if it was the color of my skin, or she just doesn't feel good on the inside. Well that the only reason I can say is why people are rude and unpleasant for no reason. Anyway I asked her what was the return policy here. I'm familiar with the hoka 30 day return policy. But I got the impression she felt some Type of way by telling me once you wear them you can't return them and that we are in the business of selling shoes?? Overview: rude and pushy staff, large selection of shoes with range in prices I feel like I'm being generous giving this place 3 stars, but they do have a large variety of shoes and apparel to chose from and a range in prices. I went here looking for shoes because someone suggested I go here saying they will watch you walk and suggest shoes based on that. I went in and was not greeted. I had to find a staff member and tell them I was looking for new shoes but wasn't sure what I needed. They did not even offer to watch me walk and when I mentioned it he said we didn't need to do that. He gave me a random selection of three shoes and sat there and stared at me as I tried each of them on without saying anything. I asked about a specific brooks shoe because I saw they were on sale online and he didn't say anything. Just stared at me like I had said nothing and basically refusing to let me try on the ones I wanted to. I have gone to this store when I was first starting cross country and got shoes and spikes there. A man named Dominic helped me and he was terrific. I went back this year to get new shoes and a woman named Dianne helped me. Helped us in an overstatement. She treated me poorly and like myself like I was were less than her. The shoes I got gave me a blister so I went to return them. When I went there Dianne was there again and did the same thing. She was very rude then too.
