Excellent selection of books. If you walk through the back of the store there is a lot more of the store than it initially looks like! They even have new releases, and a cool selection of music stuff, comics and board games. We have been here several times since moving to willits a year ago and I always find what I am looking for. It is definitely a must stop if you're looking for a gift for someone too! Everything is a reasonable price, and the process for trading in stuff for store credit is easy and straightforward. Holy smokes, you just don't stumble over bookstores like this every day! On a road trip, and staying a couple nights in Fort Bragg, we decided to take a drive over the mountain and see what's what. I clocked the "Used Books" sign on the way through town and had to check it out. I can only wish we still had a shop like this in Santa Cruz. Miles of used (and new) books--like the Tardis, it's bigger on the inside. The mystery section alone was jaw-dropping. I picked up some excellent technical volumes for my archaeologist kid, plus some LPs and a cookbook. Yes, they have used LPs. And puzzles, DVDs, CDs, musical instruments, art supplies. Other eccentric customers for atmosphere. A cool dog, named Zeus. And owner, Chris, was lovely to talk to. This place is pure magic--you should go. read more

This store was surprisingly large for a city the size of Willits. The building is narrow, but it goes way back. I wish more Bay Area stores would offer such a wide selection. Plan to spend plenty of time. read more

I'm a book worm, a nerd, a dork. It's 100% true, I swear. I go on a mini vacation, and what do I do? Run into the nearest used book store to "check out the inventory". I'm beyond help, really. Fortunately for me, I loaded up on lots of books I had yet to read. Think of every used book store you've been in filled with tons of political diatribes, sociological page turners, dry textbooks, outdated dusty narrow-minded tomes, and know that the Book Juggler is nothing like that. First step into the store and you think, great place for escapism books. You know what I mean. Murderous mysteries, haunting horrors, and raunchy romances. Everything I long for when going into used bookstores in the bay area, and everything I often find lacking. But they have all the serious stuff too! And it's up to date, recent publications, things you know have been written sometime this century, and probably even this decade! It's a book worms wet dream (or the equivalent to whatever worms dream about). Their window display caught my eye. The deals outside on the carts lured my feet to walk over. But those endless rooms of books that stretched all the way back captured my heart forever. read more

I've worked for independent bookstores for 20 years now -- both new and used stores -- and The Book Juggler is among the best of my compatriots. It's a "destination stop," and my husband and I allow an extra hour to stop in Willits whenever we're on the road. They are very reasonable in their used book pricing, and the staff is helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. Really, how many times have you gone into a large bookstore and asked for Roland Barthes, and had the staff lead you to 3 titles, shelved in 2 different sections, without using a computer?? They have a clean public restroom, are open long hours, and take books for trade credit (you can pay for up to 75% of the purchase price with your trade credit and 25% in cash, which keeps the business viable). Today I bought two little books of haiku, and when I got home and checked the prices online, I was satisfied to see that at $2.95 each, Book Juggler had priced their copies at HALF the online price. They don't have much in collectible and antiquarian titles, but the general stock is very wide and priced to sell, so I've never left empty-handed. I've been meaning to write this review for years; for a town the size of Willits to have such a stellar used bookstore is unusual, and I hope between the local readers and the devoted out-of-town fans like myself, we can keep this business thriving for many years to come. read more

I haven't been to the Book Juggler for years so I can't give it five stars b/c who knows what it's like now. I don't even think its in the same location anymore... This review is completely nostalgia based: When I was a kid we would go to the Book Juggler and read comics here...they had adult comics that were back behind the regular comics and we'd always sneak these and read them. One was called "Omaha the Cat Dancer" about a cat stripper. Whoa it was a total furry porn! I just realized that and now I'm kinda creeped out with myself. Anyway, we got caught one time but the guy was cool about it, he was like "I don't think you guys are supposed to be reading those!" and we cut out of there so fast! Embarrassed more than anything. After that it was back to the soft-core stuff like Elf Quest...I totally wanted to have a threesome with Cutter and Leetah. Jesus Damn. read more

I wish this store was here when I lived in a Willits! You will not believe what an amazing store this is for a town this size. Of course there are lots of great moderately priced used books including a lot of vintage books, and out of print stock. There are fabulous sections including children's books, music (sheet music and some stringed instruments), travel (lots of great maps), games and jigsaw puzzles. I'm not into fantasy board games (is that what they're called?), but judging from the incomprehensible discussions, this sections seems especially note worthy. Anyway, if you're sitting around in Willits without anything to do, give this place a try. But be careful, you might discover that you went through a time warp when you leave. We were met by Zeus, the store dog. I immediately knew I was in a friendly place. While the aisles are narrow, the books are displayed to the ceiling. The proprietors are are comic book/gaming nerds (think The Big Bang Theory). I was truly impressed with the vast selection of books available in such a relatively small location. Used Book Stores can be a mixed bag. But, I always stop and hope for the best. The Book Juggler in Willits surprised me...in a very good sort of way. Often times, used book stores a cluttered, disorganized, difficult to shop in. Not so with The Book Juggler! This place was a breath of fresh air. Located on the main drag through town (Main Street), from the outside, you'd never guess how big the store is inside. The place just keeps going and going toward the back. Maybe three or four rooms (my amazement kept me from taking exact notice), and bizzions of books! The various categories were predictable; heavy on fiction and mystery from memory. For me the goods waited in the far rear room. The hard stuff, history, biographies, how-to books, etc. I found a few keepers and pushed on, making a note to myself to stop here again next time I'm in town. Bottom line, a nicely organized and well supplied selection of books for any interest. Parking on the street, or in the city lot behind the store. read more

I love, love, love The Book Juggler! If you're an avid reader like I am you can not only buy books here but you can take books in for store credit. The staff is friendly and helpful. They can order new books too if you're looking for something in particular. They have great, inexpensive non-returnables on the carts out front and that's always my first stop. Their selection is extensive and varied, including cookbooks, diet books, mysteries, Wicca, adult, romance, history, comics, sheet music, and on & on. My only issues are the store isn't accessible for anyone in a mobility device like a scooter or wheelchair and the selections have outgrown the space. read more

The only reason I don't give this bookstore a five is because it's so crowded with books that it's hard to move around and I'm a bit claustrophobic. Other that that, I have never failed to find a used book I was looking for and the staff is top notch and always helpful. read more

Whilst book stores close across the nation and everything is ordered online, it's amazing to be able to walk into a real book store where one can touch and thumb through real books before purchasing them. The Book Juggler is a gem of a book store with new and used books, CDs, guitar strings, games and more. I always find something I can't live without at the Book Juggler, even if it wasn't what I went in looking for. The staff is especially friendly and knowledgeable, and if they don't have what you are looking for, they will order it new! My only wish is that the Book Juggler was a chain and I didn't have to go all the way to Willits to patronize them. read more

I've been coming here since I was a kid to buy comics, dice, and gaming books. It's a neat little book shop.

My brother lives near Willits and took me to this store. He's a loyal customer because they make great recommendations and have turned him on to lots of authors he'd never have found other wise. They don't have everything you might be looking for, but you'll find something you'll want to take home there. Motorcycle and music sections were nearly void unless you like Clymer repair books for 1985 Kawasakis and high school level flute primers. Still, I'd be glad to have this store in my neighborhood. I need to find a replacement for Duvall Books, which closed this month after 40 years in business. read more

This is the BEST used book store that I've ever come across. Greta and Chris, the owners, as well as their staff are very knowledgable about books and are happy to make recommendations. The whole vibe of the shop is classic used book store: narrow aisles and books everywhere. The shop meanders toward the back with nooks and crannies filled with . . . more books. i don't live in northern california but am fortunate to visit willits a couple of times each year and each time i do i make a point to visit the book juggler! they keep a fantastically diverse selection of books organized in a very welcoming space. but what makes the place really special is the staff. it is evident that the owners and the staff enjoy what they do and encourage customers to stay and browse. right now, to encourage reading, they even have various members of the community set up in the window display reading! it is pretty cool but goes right along with their always innovative and positive community action and interaction. they are active in their community in other ways such as promoting fundraising for the proposed dog park. the book juggler is a real gem. i have sent dozens of friends and family there to search the stacks for their favorites and they are never disappointed. although i live several hundred miles away i do much of my book-buying through them. they are happy to take special orders. last week i called on a monday to order a book for my niece's 9th birthday. it arrived to my niece (gift-wrapped at no additional charge!) in seattle by friday. this shoppe is worth a leisurely visit. the owners/staff will also happily point you in the direction of a great cup of coffee, snack or hiking trail. enjoy! read more
