For some reason I was never impressed with their Gainesville location (by Wegman's) but when I stopped by the Manassas location I was blown away by the pulled pork. Really tender, juicy, delicious. We have eaten at Bad To the Bone in Gainsville for years and were so excited to hear The Bone was opening in Manassas! Smaller menu, hence smaller name. But same great flavor. This place is great! I am so happy to have a real BBQ place so close to home! the Beans are perfect as a side and the pulled pork is spot on I think it could use a bit more of the vinegar sauce but that does not take away from the fact it was cooked perfectly! The brisket I think has been consistently a bit under cooked but the technique is clearly there and the flavors are spot on I would recommend giving this place a try. read more

Great barbecue! Friendly staff, nice atmosphere. The sauce was pretty great! The house sauce was really good and there was a whiskey sauce that I wasn't a huge fan of but I kept bringing myself back to it. It was just that interesting! We've been coming here since it opened and the last two times it's gone down hill. Seems like the staff doesn't care, short staffed and are always out of something. Today it was bbq sauce! Food was cold and the beef brisket was chewy. The Cole slaw was blah and the whole experience was disappointing. The one is Gainesville is way better! I asked if I could get the meat with no sauce and they said I could. I asked the cashier what I should get between the brisket and pulled pork and he recommended the pork. I got the pulled pork sandwich. When I asked about the contents of the BBQ sauces neither the cashier or another person knew anything about the sauces other than they were saucy?! Big help. The pulled pork was rather tasteless so I don't think I shall return. The place was almost deserted when I was in it. I'm not a big side person so didn't want to try any sides. We stumbled in for Friday lunch, drawn by the smoky promise of some serious meat. We were not disappointed. Brisket and pulled pork delivered a rich flavor and like the chicken wings appetizer had tangy sauces. The side dishes were solid, even the coleslaw was way above average. I ordered the triple meat combo with beef brisket, pulled pork, and ribs. The ribs and pulled pork taste great, but the beef brisket was somewhat lacking. The sides are really good. The cole slaw is just right and they make the best collard greens I've had in my life. The food portion v.s price is as expected with BBQ. It was enough food to make me full and I honestly never expect to pay anything below 18$ when I head into BBQ. Definitely will come back when I get another bbq craving. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and it came with a side of coleslaw and an extra side. I ordered the onion straws with it. The pulled pork was amazing with the coleslaw. The onion straws were interesting as they were an unusual option as a side- it was good to put on top of the pull pork, but as a "side" was very strange. The price for the sandwich is $8.50 on the menu both in store and online, but my total was only $7.70. I am not sure why there was a discrepancy in price but overall, it was a really good meal. read more

Solid three stars for this tucked-away BBQ place in Manassas. Hubby had the beef brisket sandwich, and I had the combo pulled pork and ribs. The pulled pork was like butta- didn't need any BBQ sauce - and the rib meat practically fell off the bone. The brisket had a good, smoky flavor and wasn't swimming in sauce so you could taste the meat. The BBQ sauce was 'meh' - we prefer it more vinegary. The cornbread was on the sweet side. I like their assortment of sauces as each one is unique. Price is ok for the food. The portions are large. The cole slaw is light and refreshing. The pulled pork is good and the beans are truly comforting. The cornbread is worth getting over the buns. Ate in with a friend and the place is small and typically empty when I go in. The ambience is kind of homey meets industrial. The chili wasn't memorable and was served lukewarm and I dunno about y'all but I want my food served hot. I had to ask them to heat it up twice. Ordered catering for a birthday celebration and it was easy and the best price I could find. I opted to pick it up, and everything was ready in time and packaged well for us to bring it home and set up. The food was a huge hit and everyone loved it! I highly recommend the corn bread muffins. They went so fast and were absolutely delicious! My only downfalls would be the portion sizes. I had sides leftover for days, but the meat went very quickly. Doesn't seem like we had enough meat for my count, but had double the sides. We actually forgot to put out the buns, which turned out to be a lifesaver as I don't think people took as much meat as they normally would if they were to make sandwiches. Also, I felt a little nickel and dimed when ordering everything as a lot of typical catering setup stuff was priced a lot higher than other catering companies that I have worked with in the past. They were very nice when we came to pick up the food which made up for it, but initially it was a bit offputting. Thankfully I am an event planner and have plenty of wire racks, sternos, and water pans sitting around, but if you do not have those you can expect your bill to increase quite a bit just to simply keep your food hot during an event. It was easy to order and get in touch with the company. Overall it was delicious and the cheapest (for the best quality) that I could find in the Manassas area - trust me, I did a lot of research! A little rough in the beginning when I knew I would have to provide half of the stuff - which is normally baked into the cost of food per person with other catering companies - however, they made up for it in flavor and professionalism from the staff. We decided to have The Bone cater for my son's high school graduation in June.... best decision ever!!! Pat was so accommodating and pleasant to work with. I changed the menu a few times and we finally came up with the perfect menu for my event. Delivery was prompt, the food was hot and so delicious. We had 150 people and the amount of food was perfect, we even had leftovers!! The BBQ has just the right amount of sauce on more on the side for personal preferences. The Mac and Chesse is deliciously creamy and not too salty as most places are. The corn bread was a fantastic side.... get the corn bread, you won't be disappointed. I can't say enough good things about The Bone. I would recommend you use this restaurant for your event and I would definitely use The Bone again. Excellent service, great atmosphere and fantastic food! This was our second time here and we had a fairly picky eater with us. Kristina helped us out with a platter he was very satisfied with! In fact, I've never seen him so satisfied with a meal! So thank you! It can get crowded quickly with a somewhat limited seating but there's also outside seating in the nicer weather. Cool decor goes with the rustic feel of a barbecue joint. Ask for a local brew to suit your thirst as they have several Virginia beers available. Food was about the right cost for the area. We had The Bone cater our wedding in July and the Pat and his crew hit it out of the park! The brisket was perfect and juicy, and the sauce is fantastic. Get the whiskey sauce! Satisfying 150 people is no easy task, but everyone was raving about the food! The restaurant itself is tucked in Old Towne Manassas, right next to the parking garage, and very easily accessible. Wow! I scheduled The Bone's food truck to come to one of the office parks we manage, and quickly snagged them for more dates throughout the summer. Their "no-frills" approach to BBQ immediately shows as their truck menu only has three entrees: pulled pork sandwich tossed in their Carolina sauce, beef brisket sandwich, pulled pork nachos, and sides. Their brisket is smoked for 14 hours, and it is melt-on-your-tongue delicious. The pulled pork nachos, topped with queso, pico, and sour cream, is my personal favorite. If you ask, they'll even pile the brisket on top of the nachos! The service is fast, and it's easy to see why they are one of the most popular food trucks in Northern VA. read more
