This quaint eatery sits alone on Ninilchik's shoreline, a popular fishing destination in the summer months. Family owned and operated, The Boardwalk Cafe's four-sided dining area is light and airy. All but one of the walls have windows that span corner to corner (the fourth wall is the counter). It provides an excellent panoramic view of the three volcanoes across the inlet on a clear day.
The Boardwalk Cafe, it seems, is famous for its seafood specialties. Its stock of seafood is believed to be locally caught or at least around the peninsula waters, and the proof of freshness is in the flavor. Their savory menu includes clam chowder, king crab legs and panko breaded halibut. All are very tasty, although their prices can be up at the tourist range. As far as I know, this place closes for the winter and most of their revenue come from tourists in the summer months.
They also serve breakfast and desserts. Their cookies and pies are supposedly worth trying but I never had the chance to "evaluate" them.
Overall this place is probably *the* place to eat when taking a break from fishing for kings or silvers, as it's the only place to grab a bite at the beach area if you haven't packed anything for your trip. There are other places to eat in this tiny community, but they're relatively far from the fishing spots. read more
