The First Baptist Congregation in Columbus built the cathedral now housing the Bluestone in 1898. Much of the architectural elements remain, while the purpose of the structure has fundamentally changed. It has been converted into a multi room entertainment venue, hosting large regional and National acts. As it is easy to imagine, the acoustics are superb. The ambience is special in that it is not a plain, bland, run of the mill auditorium. The several concerts that I have attended here have had strict security entrance requirements. This can result in lines of people queuing up, waiting to be screened and cleared. This of course can result in some delay for entry. My advice is to show up early in order to accommodate this extra time needed. I have posted some photos of the line so you can have a better idea of what goes on. There is parking available nearby, but this is also an issue that should be thought out in advance. Pretty cool venue. Right off the highway I-71. Good sound system & lighting. Nice big ground floor with no seats so great to stand. Second level has seats but you can stand behind them. Be sure to get a good buzz before entering because drinks cost waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much. $14 for a beer. Cheaper at the ball field. read more

Man ok. This space is so cool, but the sound is so, sooo terrible. I went to two different shows this summer and one sounded so bad we left early and the other just sounded like garbled mess (but we stayed because I'm a huge fan). In both experiences: the upstairs bartenders are nicer than downstairs. Also, seems sodas are not free even for DDs which is less-than. Could be amazing. Probably never will be which just really sucks. It's going to take a really amazing situation for me to ever want to go back. read more

It pains me to do this, but it's necessary. I've been coming to shows regularly at The Bluetone for over 10 years. It's a cool venue being that it's an old church. It has it's charm. That said, it's going down hill and it sucks because they have control over the issues, yet they do nothing about them. The biggest concern is the overselling of tickets. Now many might say that's the promoters fault, but I disagree - it's both of them. They know their capacity limits and they knowingly disregard them. I was at a show over the weekend that I bought ticket's to in 2024, knowing that they would sell out. And they did, of course, but the space was dangerous. It was so packed people were getting stepped on and getting hurt. You couldn't access the on/off ramp from the bottom floor to the main one because it was lined with people. People were passing out from the heat, it was wild. The women's bathroom line was so long it was taking 20-30 minutes, causing you to miss a good portion of the show. The gengtlelmen in line for the men's bathroom were letting women in because of how ridiculous it was. And they have other restrooms, they just block them off for VIP. And I get the perks of buying a VIP ticket, but you shouldn't be forced to, to simply be safe. Getting out of the venue was also a shitshow. There are double doors at the enterence, but they only had one open while ushering people out. It was practically a stampede. I was anxious the entire time and my whole group had a bad time. This was not the first time I've seen it like this. They've even had the firemarshall in while I was there once. It's a bummer. Columbus is growing fast and the music scene here is, too. I feel like greed is taking over while the safety of their patrons is going down. I don't see myself coming here again and I know I'm not the only one. Talk threads and groups online are all talking about it. Get your act together. read more

Was most recently there for the February "Highly Suspect" show. The event literature said the place opened 45 minutes prior to show start which was 7pm. The doors didn't open until 655, with lines wrapped down the block. I even purchased the Quick Pass tickets, and was rewarded with waiting over 45 minutes in 25 degree weather, while a venue sat empty. Do better Bluestone, be more aware of your environment and care more about your revenue stream. read more

I was so excited to visit this place, the pictures online looked like it was going to be a cool venue. I saw Jerry Cantrell and Filter play there on 2/18/25 and it just wasn't great. Unless you're up front or at the rail in the upper section and are 6'8", you can't see SHIT. The alcohol prices are pretty egregious. $10 for a 16 ounce beer sucks. I got two for me and a friend and gave the lady a $2 tip and well she wasn't thrilled with that. No thanks or acknowledgment whatsoever. Tipping stopped after that. read more

For a repurposed church, it's a pretty good music venue for a small-medium crowd. But... the church thing really throws me off. I attended a DJ Matt Bennett show (which was phenomenal!!) but I think if I hadn't been in the front row that I would have felt like I was attending a VBS Rave. I have no idea if it still serves as a church in any capacity, but if not, I think they should cover the church sign or at least create a Bluestone sign that isn't a low-res projection. It's nice that there was a reserved seating area for folks with disabilities, but odd and probably not pleasant that there is a huge window in front of said area. I can imagine that would really kill some immersion and sound quality. The public restrooms are all upstairs. The conditions looked clean, but it was stinky and at least one of the locks was broken. There are 2 bars: 1 to the left of the entrance toward the stage and 1 directly in the back. But the left bar was very dimly lit, and considering the back bar was crowded the whole time, I think most people didn't realize there was another bar at all. I wish I had, because the bartender I encountered was extremely rude. In addition to talking to me like I was stupid (I seriously don't know why, I just ordered a couple drinks and a water), he asked me "what kind of vodka" for the vodka cran and then after an awkward exchange of "um, I really don't know, anything is fine" and another eyeroll from him, he asked "what kind of tequila?" for the tequila pineapple. I've never had someone ask me what kind (brand?) I wanted for a well drink. Who knows. Anyway, the drinks were really bad lol. Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend this place or return myself, but if Matt or another artist I liked came again, I would. Tickets, website and the event said show started at 7 and doors open 45 min prior. They didn't even open the doors until 7 and the headliner didn't come out until 940pm. It was 27 degrees, the website and event needs better communication on these details. Also would have been nice to know that you can check your costs for $5 fee. The crowd was beyond rude. Several people trying to start fights. It would have been decent for the venue to open up to let people inside out of the freezing temperatures. read more

Was excited to visit The Bluestone Venue after not being there for a many years. The BlueStone is an old Baptist Church converted into a venue. They have definitely upgraded the facilities all around. Visited on Friday night to see Wolfgang Van Halen (Mammoth) and it was packed. Parking was super easy in the lot behind the venue and was $10. All night, the staff was fun, energetic and helpful. Friendly as they were getting people inside (during light rain), but serving drinks with a smile as everyone was enjoying the show. Downstairs bar setup (main floor) is a was too crowded to visit once show started as people hung out there to watch show. Metal/other bartenders were fun. But second floor bar was always accessible and had hang out space. Will have to say drink prices were higher than BlueJackets or Concert venues typically are ($15-$20 for single drink); so you may want to visit a local pub before you enter. *We tried Old Towne Tavern. Venue is outstanding for small audience 1-2k. Great views and fun environment. You will have to pick your spot carefully as the sound differs significantly depending where you are. Very muffled on the sides and under balcony areas. Upstairs great sound but need to be in first row or two to see anything. Suggest getting there super early and get a railing seat on first floor, or balcony railing. Main room -Sanctuary definitely had best sound. if you need to sit, a few tables in the seperate east side first floor bar but only 10 seats. Thanks for a great night Bluestone. The Bluestone venue is a pretty neat place for live music. There is an upstairs and a main floor, but for the concert I went to, only the main floor was open. There are 2 bars on the main floor, and the drinks are PRICEY. For 3 drinks, it was $45. Those 3 drinks were 1 white claw, and 2 Moscow mules. Parking was easy, staff was nice, and the concert ticket for Thursday night was $25. Loved the stage and ambience at the Bluestone. Reminder not to bring a camera indoors... This week was my first time going to a live concert since covid, so I forgot and had to run it back to my car. Overall, great place. Easy parking. Nice staff. Open ambience. The one thing I wish I had known before coming to a concert here: there's no AC! Or at least not one that's on. It was seriously hot in this venue -- I truly felt like I was on the verge of passing out. I wasn't even in a spot where I was super crowded by a ton of other people, so I can't imagine how bad it was on the first floor. I would also 100% recommended getting here early. Unless you are on the 1st top row or the first row at the bottom, you will have a very hard time seeing anything. There's another row on top, but we tried that and honestly, that view was completely obstructed. It's definitely a commitment to standing in the heat for more time than necessary, but it may be worth it. I had a great time at the concert, but I got tired super quickly because of the heat. Water also wasn't readily available. I believe it was being sold at the bar, but the bar line and the merch line didn't seem to be separated at all, so it didn't seem worth it. The acoustics were still good, and the staff was friendly (with the odd exception). The bathrooms were clean and fancy (you could definitely tell this used to be a church), so it wasn't all bad. I will say having worked there for one shift, I was told NOT to fill the 3 sink sanitizing station, along with having the dump sink that you empty peoples spent drinks into being the same place that you set down your shakers only to rinse them with only water to make your next drink. I was here when it was a night club named Boma. Night club turned to a concert venue is really cool. I like that there is a good view from everywhere. The only place you will struggle seeing is if you aren't able to get to the rail on the second floor. Bar service is good and quick. All the bars are connected to your open tab so you are able to walk around and get drinks anywhere. I recommend going upstairs to one of the bars when you arrive to start a tab because they are way less crowded. read more

Such a missed opportunity. I've been been here for shows before, but most recently to see Tropidelic. Great venue, coo layout, and really not a bad seat in the house. If only they had a professional soundman! Coukd not hear the vocals at all. And the music is the reason for coming to shows, right? On top of that, the beverage prices are beyond punitive. Way too much at top & bottom, as well as balance mix lacked substantially with their amazing vocalists .... female and males (most saddening)... like so many smaller concert venues it was pushed way too loudly... please wear good ear plugs. The show I saw was 80% full. A few barstools and no other seating. Drinks were okay priced and I drank from a can. Parked on the street 100' from the venue. For a cold weather event it was great. Not so sure standing in the balcony for 4 hours in August would be. Didn't use the bathroom so N/A. Staff was friendly and helpful. Tonight was my first visit to the Bluestone but I had always wanted to check it out. We went to see Chris Janson. It seems like they host a lot of country artists. It was a really neat venue! An old church originally but now a nice venue. It's fairly small but that just means you get a great view from any seat in the house! They have an upstairs balcony as well as standing floor room. The two large bars were very easy to walk right up and get a drink. It was $14 for a bud light and a vodka sprite, but I'm not sure of the breakdown. They have a pretty full bar though. Bathrooms are located upstairs and were clean and way nicer than I expected. Someone posted a photo of the sinks- I was so surprised to see those fancy things here!! They do have parking... but it's a lot behind the building that you can access from the back without paying. But I have no idea if they really check, they were just giving people white raffle tickets to place in the car window. So up to you if you wanna risk it. We parked in the ally in the back for free. If you go late enough, you could grab a meter. Just remember they have a 2 hour limit so make sure you're there late enough to fill it up for the night! There was also a food truck out front where you could grab some grub and take it into the show. I'm guessing they swap out trucks but maybe not. I would definitely check out other events here. It was a cool atmosphere. Think a smaller version of Newport but with church windows and nicer bathrooms. read more

Very pretty venue, way oversold. We saw Maisie Peters in August and the venue way oversold the show. It was packed with no where to go. We were upstairs and there was no air circulation. It was so hot with probably more than 200 people in just that little area. My friend and I had to sit in on of the side areas by the elevator because we were feeling sick and water cost $6 or something outrageous. The workers were nice and it's very pretty but it definitely needs work on becoming a concert venue with that size of crowds. read more

I attended the breakaway afterparty knock2 on 8/26. These are patterns I've noticed at the Bluestone after being in the EDM scene for years. Once I entered the venue, I noticed this show was entirely too crowded, with little room to move or even get on the GA floor, and extremely hot with little ventilation.. in August, after a massive music festival. Our group ended up going outside after about 10 minutes due to how unenjoyable it was. Quite frankly, as a nurse, this is a massive health hazard. What if there was an emergency in the crowd? What if people overheated due to dancing all day before this in 90 degree weather? I'm disappointed because it felt like a money grab. My impression was bluestone was taking advantage of as many festival goers as possible. Do better, guys. I also sent an email to the bluestone regarding this and never heard back read more

HATE CRIME AT THE BlueStone This weekend my friend flew in from Tampa to go with me to see a concert at the BlueStone. We Ubered to the venue. I purchased a record and two Koosies and they agreed to let us keep the items behind the table. My friend and I proceeded to step into the standing room area as we waited for the performance. Security called me aside and told me I had to leave the standing room. There was no reason given and my friend and I were very confused but complied. We went upstairs and sat at the bar. We were explaining our confusion to the bar tender and I asked if we could speak to a manager. Instead of brining a manager over to help add clarity to the situation, the same security guard and two Columbus Police Officers escorted me out of the Blue Stone. I walked out with them and was told I could not stand under the covering while it was raining and I had to leave the premises completely. I stood on the sidewalk with my friend while it was pouring rain. Saturday we spoke to the event coordinator and explained that this was a hate crime. I was singled out as a gay man, separated by security from my friend who told me I had to leave but they didn't say anything to my friend. The police didn't provide a reason they only stated that they were told to escort me out of the venue. Kayla is the event manager and said she didn't believe our story and that security wouldn't have behaved in such a manner. She interrupted my friend and told my friend to act like an adult. We spent less than 20 minutes at the BlueStone. I was charged $36 at the bar for drinks we didn't receive. My friend did pick up the record which now is just a symbol of a bad experience. I am seeking assistance as this was what I believe to be a hate crime because I am gay. This was an embarrassment and humiliating experience. I have tried to call the BlueStone to request additional information as they has not provided us with the information of why this action was taken against me. They have not called me back and they are denying that any egregious actions occurred. read more

I have been to several events here, many of them being concerts but also city held fundraisers. In my opinion the venue is perfect and ideal for a concert! I love that you have the option to be upstairs, viewing with some space to move around or downstairs in the heat of the action! The bar staff has always been friendly, and security has made me feel safe yet not to daunting upon entry. They do provide a self-serve water station but keep in mind that there is only one and they only provide small cups. I recommend exploring upstairs because the bar up there is usually less crowded, and they have a couple spots to lounge if you need a break from the craziness. In addition, their bathrooms have always been well-kept, and I've experienced multiple times where there is someone in there checking to make sure things are kept clean and prepared for more customers. I believe they have a parking lot next to the building but I'm not positive, I do know there are meters nearby if you're driving. Keep in mind that with any show, trying to get an Uber of Lyft at the end of a show can be difficult and you might be waiting. One thing I feel inclined to share, and is the main reason for taking a couple stars away, I went to a concert on a very cold night, many people were carrying around coats (though they did offer a coat check) but many people were losing coats, one of my friends was going around looking for his at the end of the night and he witnessed employees throwing jackets into the garbage, when asked, the employee said he was instructed to do so because there had been so many left behind. I understand being overwhelmed with items left behind but there are so many other ways to handle that situation than to simply throw them away. To sum everything up for you, I recommend keeping an eye out for shows that pass through this venue. I have found a lot of my favorite DJ's have shows here and it's a great venue for a light show in specific! read more

I came here for a concert that was also a "beer fest". This was 100% not a beer fest, but I'm not going to hold The Bluestone accountable for not malarkey. It is a converted old church with so much personality; you certainly won't be bored walking around and admiring the decor, architecture, etc. For a concert, it was a perfect location. Acoustics were great and the place is an open layout so that everyone seems to get an awesome view. It's also in a decent location within Columbus. read more

This place way oversells tickets to its shows. If you're not there early to get a middle spot, the sound and sight lines are horrible. Acoustics are some of the worst I've ever encountered for a show. Sound is muffled in many areas of the space, especially the sides. Avoid this venue for any kind of a concert. Two years in a row I've been here for the Beatles Marathon which lasts 12 hours. I keep forgetting that this place has other things going on there until someone mentions attending another concert event here. I have yet to go upstairs for anything other than the restroom so I can only say the photos I've seen taken from there are great because there isn't anyone standing in front of you to ruin your line of sight. There is parking behind the venue ($5 for event parking) which could use some additional lighting. Since the stage is at the back of the building you can hear the music clearly when walking up from the lot. read more
